  1. Why so snarky, folks? OP has almost 900 posts on CC and has established his bona fides. Odd that he starts the thread out of the blue but when you're sick on a cruise, you want to go casual and pick and choose what you may be able for, etc. On our more recent MSC cruises, the evening buffet wasn't great, to be honest. There's no need to get all defensive when someone criticises our current cruise line of choice! I've noticed a bit of snarkiness creeping in on CC for no obvious good reason lately. Lighten up people, we're discussing our vacations here! Ken

    Excellent post!

  2. I'm not sailing until June of next year. I know there are a few others booked in the same room here that are sailing earlier and promised to post pics. But, I'm seriously thinking about switching to YC or a Whirlpool suite because, like you, I'm seriously worried about the space for 4 people. I have 2 teenagers and I don't know if the headache is worth it even though I think the Aft cabin will be great.

  3. Aft, sorry.

The floorplan on the website just makes it looked so squished and I can't imagine that the couch pulls out fully without half of it being under the desk lol.

The reason I asked is that I'm booked Aft on the Seaside with 4 people also. I believe the floor plans are for the deck 9 suites and not the cabins withe Aft view which have a different configuration. No one has seen a floorplan of the Aft suites yet as MSC will not release it for some reason. Although, from the deck plan, it does look wider but no one is even sure where the sofa is located in these rooms.

  4. Can someone explain 'photobucket' to me please. I've seen this on multiple threads and it's really irritating since I want to see the photos too!

You were able to add links to the Photobucket servers for posting pictures to 3rd party sites (ie. this site). The pictures are actually stored by Photobucket. As of June of this year, Photobucket is now charging a fee for this link, so you can no longer see the linked pics unless the poster pays the fee. I think you can still store things at Photobucket to view yourself for free, but I'm not sure.

It has broken a lot of old posts.

Why is it bad to upgrade the MDR meals to an American standard, when most complaints are about the quality of the MDR food and service? I mean the slop served when I was on the Posea year back, was a discrase. The only saving grace were the two surcharge dining options: which is why I bought the Dining 4 Package, for my Sept. Divina cruise.

    Well said!

  6. Ship looks great! Msc has some great deals going on for 2018 sailings my only hitch is i don't know what room/where to book a room (will be fantastica balcony) because there is not a whole lot of information out there. Also waiting on our loyalty match (will only be classic but still worth it) to come through.

I have been waiting for my status match for 2 months now. Not sailing until June so I'm trying to be patient.

  7. Just received some details from MSC UK re the size of the Aft Suite, same as on our booking, overall Module area 26 Sq metres (280 sq feet) Cabin 22 (236 sq feet) Bathroom 4 (43 sq feet) Balcony 14 Sq metres (150 sq feet)

Shower in Bathroom, 2 lower beds (usually made up as a Double) and a Double Sofa bed.

No mention of chairs or Table on the Balcony though in the details.

Thanks for the update. When my booking listed 22mq, I was hoping that wasn't including the bathroom. And it looks like it wasn't. I'm waiting patiently for MSC to release the pics.

  8. I booked a year ago an AFT corner on deck 14 port side and also a Yacht Club suite just in case.... My sailings is in march so on December I will decide what to take after seen the real facts. My heart its inclined to the AFT and I really want to keep this but im not sure that they are not going to spoil it at the end. Anyway we have a b2b unit on june on the YC so probably we will keep AFT just to compare both suites.

Seen at the pics in my minds must be a really big unit, Im not expecting 2 bedrooms but I hope a lot of space because they just have 2 units on the aft and the elevator between them so must be a really nice one....

I'm booked on deck 14 Aft also for next June and I'm thinking about booking a Yacht Club just in case. Although, I hate to tie up 2 rooms. I'm worried since I believe these are one of few cabins (along with the 1 BR GS) that we haven't seen at least a rendering yet.

One thing I notice from the exterior pic above is that although the balcony is long and wrap around, it doesn't look very deep. Will you be able to get 2 chairs to fit comfortably out there. Does anyone else have an opinion on this? Maybe it just looks that way. My big concern is that it will be 4 of us and I don't think a regular double sofa will work for us. I still can get a YC or a Whirlpool suite with a pullman but I would really like to see a picture of this room before I change.

  9. You may want to go back to the previous page and read post 1185 and 1187 that talks about those Aurea Aft Suites. There is a believe that they are a one open room unless I read it wrong.

That was my take also. There is no partition for a separate Bedroom. I think we all need the pics.

  10. According to our updated booking confirmation for December 23 rd it says the Aft Suite is 22 sq metres and the Bathroom 4 Sq metres, 236 and 43 sq feet.

We will have to wait and see ...

My booking confirmation says the same thing. But if you do a mock booking today for the Aft cabins, the stateroom details show 274 sq ft. I guess it could be the total sq ft. 236+43 is close. If it is 236 with the Bathroom included, I'll be a little disappointed.

  11. I got our booking resolved almost, yesterday, it seems that the MSC system has a flaw in it (bug/Glitch they call it) for some reason if a cabin is booked and then changed the site shows the original booking as Cancelled.

We have our Balcony cabin and MSC have confirmed it by email including a screen shot of their booking system showing the cabin, and telling me that I can now add drink packages etc online.

The website still shows the cancelled booking and it will not let me add drink packages!

MSC have put the blame with the travel agent who they say booked an Inside cabin and then changed it to a Balcony, the travel agent says that they put a hold on both cabins at the same time, somewhere in between lies the Truth.

Instead of adding stuff and changing the look of the UK website they would do well to Fix the issues that are currently affecting it or employ a new I.T team who can sort it out.

Addict ... If you would like to contact me on my mail add below I have some info that may help with your problem.

Thank you for this update. I recently booked a room on the Seaside and had to call back and make a change because the website didn't give me the proper promotion when I booked. Now, the website shows the room as cancelled even though the booking status is confirmed and I have the updated paperwork with the right promotions. I was getting worried. I still might call to see if the website can be straightened out.

Were you able straightened out what's on the website? First time on MSC and it's not going smoothly so far.

  12. What can these GC's be used for? I have to finish paying for my cruise on Tuesday so I won't get them in time. Can I use them to pay the gratuities??

I believe they can be used for almost anything. Cruise payoff, Excursions, Cheers and other fun shop purchases, On-board expenses (including gratuities). I don't know of anything they can't be used for. Maybe the Casino, but I'm not sure about that. Maybe someone for knowledgeable can answer that one.

  13. I have always gotten our Carnival Gift Cards from Kroger. However, I found them at Publix yesterday. Is this new? I have always shopped at Publix and have never seen them there.

Are they selling these at a discount? 10% off? I remember when they were at Lowes. I didn't think they were discounted. I couldn't see the point of buying a gift card at face value?

  14. We cruised out of Galveston last year and rented a car. I did the math and it was about same price to rent the car for a week and park it at the terminal in closed parking as it would have been to hire transportation to and from the airport and to the ship the next morning. And it was a lot less stressful not be dependent on transportation or stuck at the hotel.

    Just an option.

  15. We weren't so much "creatures of habit" by eating at the same time, getting same table, etc. as we didn't want to wait an hour each time we did go to the dining room at whatever time we chose or have five people sit at a table designed for four. I thought if we chose Open Dining that we could make reservations for whatever time we wanted to eat or go at 7:18 PM and get a table within a reasonable amount of time and be seated at a decent table. This was not the way it was however. So the only other option was to go ahead and make reservations at one of the four designated times and if I had to do this I felt I might as well request a decent table also. Hopefully Carnival will get the "bugs" worked out because I still think Open Dining would be the way to go if it worked properly.

Less than 2 weeks to sail for us. Can't wait. We chose open seating also. I hope they get the kinks worked out. We did open seating on Princess and the longest we had to wait was about 15 minutes one time. And this was a larger ship.
