  1. From the document

"Need more non-alcoholic beverages? Pick them up on shore. Carnival doesn't track what you brought on the ship initially and they haven't been known to question you bringing on more non-alcoholic beverages on port days."

They let you bring them on, but they take them till the last day, no?

I have all but once had them taken away from me and that once was on Costa. Otherwise they take them and get your name and cabin number and deliver it last night but I am sure others have gotten it through.

  2. As of now the Carnival Entertainment Dept, they are only "planning" to place bands on Legend and Pride:(

According to Music Motion web site, they joined Freedom in late March and my guess is that contracts extend for 6-8 months.

That's one of the reasons we changed our Aug. cruise to The Freedom from the Pride.

Well I sure hope they "plan" on getting a band by December on Pride when I sail! :p

  3. This is just me but I did this on the Destiny with my girlfriends a couple of years ago and while my husband wasn't upset that I went, I was. I had a good time, but all through the trip I felt so guilty having left my husband and kids home alone. I don't know if I would go again without him. JMHO.

  4. I've seen a lot of threads where people who do things that bother them but because some people bring stuffed animals on a cruise we have to start a thread to complain about it?

Sorry, I just don't get it. Why would it bother you? It's not affecting you and if people want to have fun and this makes then happy then so what. Ignore them. Don't look at them or their stuffed animal. It's their vacation too.

  5. When we sailed on Destiny last October we flew into Fort Lauderdale and arrived at just close to noon. One of our suitcases ended up being not making the flight so we were there another 30 minutes in the offices at the airport trying to locate the suitcase. We left Fort Lauderdale around 1:00 and made it to the Port of Miami by 1:45. It was kinda nice as just about everyone had already boarded and we were on board by 2:15. Oh, and by the way, the missing suitcase ended up to our door BEFORE the luggage that made it. Lol. Go figure.

My point is arriving in Miami at 12:15 may be closer then some would like but its a relatively short trip to the port via taxi or shuttle. I think you will be fine barring any airline issues. This is closer then some would like but sometimes flying in the day of your cruise is unavoidable.

    Have a great trip.

  6. I remember the "make your own sundae" bar on HAL, early 1980's, that included bottles of premium liquor to be used for toppings. Free! I still have a few Delft plates that we received on HAL ships, too.

With the advent of e-tickets, receiving your docs in a portfolio is a thing of the past. However, I do have a nice green leather ticket holder from a recent Crystal cruise.

Yes, dining with officers is still common on many cruise lines. On Celebrity ships we are offered extended tours of the ship's kitchen and food prep areas.

Food was prepared table-side. Flambe desserts, fettucini alfredo, salads.

At the end of each cruise, your waiter would present the week's menus to you.

My parents cruised frequently in the 50's and 60's and have many pictures of all the passengers participating in costume parties. And on formal night, gentlemen were in dinner jackets/tux while ladies were in elegant gowns. In those days, the fashion police were Dior and Channel.

I forgot about the pasta and flambe's being done table side! By that was always fun.
