  1. I try not to be superstitious. Sometimes when you are having a bad game you start to look for anything that can change your luck. Even though being a scientific person I know that how I hold my cards, or when I order a drink have nothing to do with the outcome a game I find myself doing stupid things because the last time I did, I won. Craps players are probably the most superstitious players. And I know what you mean about the drink orders. We had a waitress that seemed to always come up to the shooter during a throw and give them their drink or try to take an order. Everyone would moan when she showed up because it seemed that as soon as she did, the shooter would seven out... The thing is, no one considers the hundreds of other times when the "insert superstitious behavior here" is done and nothing happens. Its only noticed when it happens when a loss or big win occurs...

  2. Take NOT getting stamps as a blessing. If they stamped a visa on every port and you take 3 or 4 cruises you could easily fill up your visa pages. Then YOU have PAY FOR ADDITIONAL pages.

We got stamped on our med cruise (Turkey I think actually stamps each passport) but most of the time we did not get stamped.

  3. It may be just the way NCL runs their casinos. I took one NCL cruise and remember them trying to make it $10 min a couple of times but they ended up dropping it to $5 just to get people to play. I can see increasing the minimum when the table is full but unless they wanted to keep it down to having only one end open due to lack of dealers, I don't understand why the constant $10 minimum.

Of course the same can be said in land based casinos. With the economy the way it is there just isn't as many people in the casinos now. I am amazed that they take a table game that is half full and increase the minimum and watch those that were playing leave and the table go empty. I would think they would much rather have a full table at $5 then an empty one at $10. But I see it all the time... a bunch of empty $10 tables and one $5 table that is packed...

  4. Well on Carnival (and probably on Royal too but I have only used the showers in Carnivals spas), there are lockers to store stuff while in the shower. You can bring all your "stuff" and put what you don't want in the lockers (you need to ask the receptionist at the spa desk for a locker key,but they don't charge for the use. They have hair dryers and towels there near the showers so everything you need to get ready and dressed is right there.

With a family of 4 and my being the only male in the cabin, its MUCH quicker and easier for me and maybe one of the kiddos to run up to the spa to get ready than to have to wait and take turns for the cabin shower. That might change on our Dream cruise coming up because we booked the family oceanview cabin that has two showers...

  5. UCFOG...Line bets are a great way to toke the dealer. If a game is a $5 mininum bet you can still bet $1 (or 2-3-4) for the dealers and not be subject to the mininum. Place full odds behind for pass line and the dealers will love you to death.

I don't think you guys understand what he is asking. He is saying that he wants to make the pass line bet for the dealers (which is fine and the dealers will love him for it) and then make the odds bet on that dealer toke but if it pays, he wants the winnings on the odds (giving the dealers only the even money pass bet). I don't think the dealers would be so cool with this. I have never seen it done and the dealers may assume the odds bet is for them also. You go and try to pick it up and there may be "words". Better to do what LSTEFFA suggests and make a less then minimum pass bet and then give them the odds bet also. I tend to alternate between a two way hardway bet (one bet for me and one for the dealers) and the pass line with odds toke depending on if the hardway tokes are paying off.

So if you want to give the dealers a $5 tip on a 2x odds table, you can drop $2 on the pass line and then drop the other $3 on the odds (unless the point is 5 or 9 in which case you can either drop the odds bet to $2 or increase it to $4 so the payout is even..) I would want to explain to the crew that you were betting there odds bet for yourself after the fact.
