  1. This type post literally pops up with every new class of ships LOL!    Then that class goes on to be the most popular class ever and even those who swore off of it wind up cruising it multiple times.    This forum had an entire group against the Oasis class and Id be willing to bet all of them have been on an Oasis class ship, probably several times.

This is what is called "pasteurized egg product", and is what is almost universally used in the food service industry, not "powdered eggs" that most complain about in the ship's buffet line.  These are used for scrambled eggs, omelets, hollandaise sauces, etc.  The eggs are shelled, scrambled, an emulsifier is added to keep it from separating, and then pasteurized, so that it can be served in a raw condition (like hollandaise, cheesecake, eggnog, etc).

Yeah, years ago I was a "cook" at a timeshare in Kissimmee FL.   I quoted the word cook because I mostly just heated up Sysco food.  Our eggs came in bags from Sysco that you boiled in big pots of boiling water.  Id add cheese and doctor them up a little and they werent bad at all.  We NEVER used powdered eggs. ive never even seen powdered eggs

Mariner is staying out until Friday afternoon sometime

Werent they due back tomorrow morning? A few extra days added on!   I remember Dorian and the folks that got an 11 night cruise on Harmony while mine was reduced to 3 nights lol. What a stressful week that was!     I took the FCC and finally made it to Alaska last year.

Our very first cruise was on Majesty in 2004 and there was a $4.95 cover charge at JR's. Ive seen a 2011 compass for Majesty and it was still $4.95.

It was 4.95 on Freedom in 2012 as well.  I saw a memory on my Facebook not long ago about Johnny Rockets and the extra cost.   It was delicious and well worth it then.  Id skip it now at 12.00

She will get $ credited back to her cc from RCL, and I will give her the difference out of pocket for what she paid.

Then I wouldnt say a word at check in about her being a no show.  If they ask, tell them she hasnt arrived yet.  You will go on to your cabin and not hear another word about it.  You can even give her her Seapass card for a cruise she didnt take lol.

When I check in at the pier, do I notify them that she is a no show or not say anything?  I understand that no shows should receive port fees and gov. taxes back.

I went through this last September with my mom on an Alaskan cruise.  She couldnt go.  At check in, they asked me where she was and I just told them her flight was late.  I didnt say ANYTHING about she wasnt coming in fear of getting charged a single rate.  I never heard another word and still have her Seapass card for a cruise she didnt even take. She got her taxes and fees back.

Won't the OP the be charged a singles rate ?

In my experience, not if she doesnt say anything about the no show.  I went through this last September with my mom on an Alaskan cruise.  They asked me where she was at check in.  I told them her flight was late.  Never heard another word about it., I still have her Seapass card for a cruise she didnt even go on lol

The ticket prices for the Thrill Waterpark at CocoCay are $161 per person if we pre-book now.

Ridiculous.  That is over double the cost of most any water park in Fl, including Typhoon Lagoon at Disney. As long as people continue to pay these exorbitant prices, you cant fault RC for taking advantage of it though.

. We wont even cruise Royal without the UDP package anymore,

Neither will I and only one visit to the MDR to get escargot and tiger shrimp during my last cruise confirmed that.   The escargot were cold and rubbery and not what I remembered from the past and the "tiger shrimp" looked like the tiny shrimp that came on the shrimp cocktail.  None of the food was warm either.   It couldnt have been the crowds as there was only 1800 guests on a ship that holds over 4000.  It was the quality of the ingredients and temp food was served at.  All my specialty dining was excellent however.  Their trick worked on me 😉

Call back up and cancel the entire cruise and take your money elsewhere. Ask for a full refund. It's crazy they can't take care of this with one simple phone call.

You shouldn't have to worry about this.

Based on the reviews Ive seen as of late since Royal went back to 100% capacity with about 50% of their staff, that is exactly what I would do.

    Umm....

The point is not the legality of smoking pot. The point is that smoking anything on your balcony is against RCI rules. It doesn't matter at all if pot is legal or illegal in Florida or any other state or country. You can't smoke it on your ship balcony. Period.

Now, if the discussion was about someone smoking pot in the designated smoking area, then all the debate about legality would be relevant.

That said, personally, I think pot stinks way worse than cigarettes do.

Ummm, thank you Captain Obvious but I was clearly talking about the people at the Hilton. Pot is legal medicinally in FL now.   The cops arent gonna do much if anything at all.    We all know that smoking anything on a cruise ship balcony is against the rules.

So you are limited in the amount of bottles you can purchase to return to US?  Any idea what the limit is?

My nephew has a plan to buy the cheaper alcohol on ship and resell some when he gets home for a profit.  He does this with tennis shoes and makes a ridiculous profit with those.

Honestly, I think "duty free" is mostly hype now.  Prices I saw onboard this past cruise were really not much better than my local package store.

I know the MDR isn't 5 star, but just want to know what to expect.  I can skip the fish and plan a night at Chops instead of ordering a filet at the MDR.

Thats what I would do 🙂  Its been my limited experience that the upcharge steak in the MDR isnt as good as Chops and the fish dishes Ive tried arent very good at all.  For you, it would be like a New Englander trying to enjoy the included warm water MDR lobster tails. You're likely to be disappointed.  The best filet though may actually be at the Italian place believe it or not.  Ive seen that reported many times.

Having a hard time finding an acceptable handicapable room.  With handicap rooms fairly limited, how does RCCL manage them?  ie what prevents someone who doesnt need the room, from checking the box during booking to grab a room if they want it?  do they ask for documentation later?  what happens if someone more handicap comes along, can they bump you?

T10 paraplegic here 100% confined to a wheelchair.  Its frustrating for sure. When I first started cruising 13 years ago, pretty regularly I could book a cruise and find a HA cabin 6 months out.  Now I have to book over a year in advance.  Im not sure how they manage it but It is my experience that RC will NOT "bump" people from these cabins.  I wish you the best of luck!

  15. It is past time to call the daily gratuities what they are, a daily service charge, and make it to where you pay or you dont cruise.   That would essentially do away with these type threads and those who look for any reason to justify not paying the daily charge.   There has to be some kinda tax issue or something as to why they arent already doing this.
