For what gain?? Most cruisers have not heard of cc or cruisehive.

I don't think unfortunately, those who are cancelled have much legal recourse.

Just OOI, when did LLP announce she was stepping down ?? and this then hit the fan!.

Yep, Dondra, head of sales is also leaving

I’m really upset the way Celebrity is lowering their standards.  I’ve canceled both cruises for this year until things improve.  /s

We’ve been on 20+ cruises since the restart and while, yes, it’s not exactly the same as pre.Covid, we’ve enjoyed every one.  That’s us though and if you require everything to be the same, you were right to cancel.

  3. We have done both and would agree with the prevailing advice to choose the Baltic.  We were scheduled for Russia/Scandinavia with a group of friends this last July.  Obviously, the Russia port did not happen.  We were disappointed for all our friends, none of whom have been to Russia (We have been and it’s a fabulous port), but the addition of an overnight in Stockholm and a day in Copenhagen made for a great cruise.

We love the UK but after our first British Isles cruise, we felt we wanted to do a land trip.  We spent almost two months in Scotland and England this last summer and it was wonderful.

Baltic, although keep in mind that your 14 hours docked in Berlin (Warnemunde) is actually a three hour journey each way from Warnemunde to Berlin! So essentially less than 8 hours in that city. We opted to stay in the port area on our Eclipse Baltic cruise thinking that we'd visit Berlin for a longer time in the future. We did about half a decade later and saw and did so much more than possible on a limited port stop!

Totally agree on not going to Berlin.  We did it once with a private driver and great historian/tour guide and did enjoy it but  it was still 2+ hours each way and super pricey.  A few months ago we went to Schwerin from that port and it was lovely.

I know that specialty dining is included in my suite but I dont know how to reserve a time without paying for a dining package. Would it be too late if I wait until I am on the ship?

Our friends were in a Royal suite in April, on the Apex, and even though she spent hours before the cruise trying to coordinate a schedule, she still had to redo it on the ship.  I would suggest going straight to the retreat concierge when you get onboard.

Kelly: That is interesting.  We board the transatlantic on Saturday, so if you would not mind keeping people up to date on whatever the Captain tells you about Covid cases, that would be very interesting to a lot of us.

So, checking further, it’s in The Club, not the theater and I don’t see any of last week’s theater production shows on the calendar, just guest performers.  We were with a group of friends last week, also watching NBA playoffs, thinking we could see the shows either this week or on the transatlantic.  Now that’s not looking good. Just hoping to test negative on Friday so that we can stay on for the transatlantic!

  7. We’re booked on Solstice September 22, 2023, Vancouver to Honolulu, b2b with October 1, 2023 Honolulu to Sydney.  We did the Honolulu to Sydney in October 2018  for my retirement cruise and the only change I see in the itinerary is the substitution of Raiatea for Bora Bora.  Definitely disappointed not to be going to Bora Bora again, but it’s still the best way to get to Australia!

While the vaccine is now available in Canada, with shots starting last week, there's an 8 week period between shots under Canadian protocols, plus the two weeks needed following the second shot to be considered fully vaccinated, so it would be impossible to meet the February 1 deadline. I imagine that Celebrity had a slew of cancellations, or at least enquiries, since making the initial announcement.

So hopefully just a slight delay in implementation or policy based on country.    February 1 is an easy time frame for U.S. kids.  My young nieces and nephews are already fully vaccinated, but the February 1 date is not doable for kids from Canada or UK.

Really upset by this decision as we are booked along with my Daughter and her family to go at the end of March 2022. We lost our Son in July this year and this cruise was meant to be a time for us all to be together and make new memories, unfortunately the uk don’t vaccinate children under 12 which means our 9 year old grandson won’t be allowed to sail. I appreciate what Celebrity are trying to do in keeping everyone safe but feel that for those children who are unable to get a jab through no fault of their own then negative tests prior to boarding and re testing throughout the cruise should suffice.

Now that we know Celebrity has put this policy on hold, I wonder if they have made this decision based on the unavailability of vaccination for 5+ in other countries? Maybe vaccination for all who are eligible should exempt your 9 year old grandson?  I guess we’ll wait and see.  I am a big supporter of vaccine requirements, have had 3 doses myself, but could understand that there are special circumstances.  They would be tested and Celebrity would still maintain 95%+ vaccination for passengers.

I’m truly sorry for your loss and hope that your family is able to have a lovely vacation together whether that be on a cruise or somewhere else.

We are trying to decide between the January 19th Reflection 10-night cruise or the 9-night January 21st Equinox curise.

We have sailed on the Equinox before and enjoyed it but the Reflection would be new to us.  On the other hand we have been to all the ports on the Reflection sailing and none on the Equinox only a land trip to Aruba.  We mainly go to the beach or snorkels so enjoyed all the islands.   Our agent has a good deal on a Reflection o/v cabin.  For the Equinox sailing o/vs are sold out so we would book an inside and hope for a good move-up offer.

I am hoping to get folks opinions about the two ships.  Do folks prefer one over the other ?  Anything special that one has that the other doesn't.  We have sailed Equinox before and enjoyed it but the Reflection would be new to us.

I am struggling with the decision and DH says whatever you want : )

Solstice class is my favorite and we have been on both ships multiple times.  Not sure how things will be in January but we have taken 4 cruises since the restart and every one of them has had multiple port changes, some pretty last minute, due to Covid, but they were all fabulous!  So, don’t be totally set on any of the ports, but absolutely cruise and have a wonderful time!

I love Reflection and Silhouette because the Lawn Club Grill is our favorite specialty restaurant😋

Celebrity explained it this way.  When someone calls to book

[}  The client is asked if they are vaxxed and if they would provide proof.  If yes notation made on booking. Proof to be provided at check in. (Part of the 95%)

    2) Pax says no but plans on getting vaxxed before cruise.  At cruise port check in they will ask for the proof and if supplied part of the 95%.  If not pax sent to a different section for fee based testing and given much more stringent protocols. Part of the 5 %?

3). Unvaxed pax and pax that do not want to give info sent to a different section and protocols same as #2

unvaxed protocols include masks, distancing and ship tours.

Celebrity said they can monitor the bookings and percentages.

They advise anyone unvaxed to arrive early at the port as once the 5% threshold is reached that’s it.

I am assuming that most of us booked quite some time ago.  I know we did.  How is this then determined for those bookings made previous to this policy?  I know that the "how" question was asked twice in the webcast and Dondra declined to answer it.

We recently returned from our cruise and wanted to give quick update on Sol y Mar since there weren’t many reviews when i was looking.

We decided to book through the cruise line, (unusual for us) since it was the least expensive option for two people. We ended taking the transport-only option and then did PAYG, instead of the AI or the adult-only section which included drinks.

Transport was fine -  it is a relatively short trip from the pier at Coxen Hole. There was a driver and a “guide” for our bus group. There were a number of buses going to the same location due to the different packages. On arrival our group was allocated a “server” and an area of the beach. The resort is large and didn't feel overcrowded. I am not one who likes to be “herded” in a group but after an initial feeling of unease it really turned out to be OK! The server worked very hard and service was good.

The sea was fine for swimming in. There were a lot of broken shells and I preferred to wear water shoes but then I usually do, I am sure most people didn’t bother! There were plenty of add-on activities available, snorkeling, blow-up swans for little ones or families , kayaks, flyboard, paddle boards, massage but we just relaxed. There was loud music but it didn’t bother us and every hour or so they had a group dance session for those that wanted to but no pressure. We enjoyed the fact there were no vendors and we were able to read in peace.

I have read reports of flies but i sprayed (as I always do on Roatan) and had no problems. The biggest negative for me, was the lack of personal shade. Our section had no palapas or umbrellas. My lounger was initially in the shade of a “young” palm tree and we moved as the sun moved but eventually there was no protection and I became uncomfortable. I took a walk around the resort and found most of the eating areas were shaded but all seats were taken. Eventually we dragged the loungers back a considerable distance, but still with a view of the ocean to an area that was much more shaded and noticeably cooler. It took a while for our server to find us, now we were outside “our area” but it was fine once we caught his attention. I think as the resort matures this may be less of a problem. I still wish that umbrellas were available but I would move sooner next time - my husband was fine but i don't do well without shade.

Overall i thought it was good value for the money, vendor-free, convenient location close to port. Any specific questions I will try to answer.

Thanks for this review!  This was through Royal Caribbean?  Also, the lounge chairs were included, but umbrellas were not?  Our group is currently looking at this excursion and we're also confused that the cruise duration says 4 hours, but then the beach time also says 4 hours.  What was your experience?

    Thanks so much!
