Ruth Chris is similar to Longhorn Steakhouse only its more pricier....Mortons Steakhouse/Peter Luger/David Burke/Bern's/BLT and Prime in Syosset NY are my most favorite steakhouses......honestly, I can't eat the food in the MDR on Carnival ships its just horrible but we sure are very happy with the Steakhouse on Carnival...for a cheap price your paying your getting an excellent meal.
On another note, Carnivals Steakhouse is much better than RC Chops!
Prime on LI....yes! Amazing. Didn't care for the $1400 check though!!

Richstowe: For me it's not really a question of better or worse..just different. Remembering what it was like is nostalgic - kind of like watching the original Star Trek on a 50" HDTV. :) I'll remember it with a smile as I log into my facebook while I'm at sea LOL
One thing I do really miss is that excitement when you got your cruise packet!! And even more exciting because they fed ex'ed it! Clicking the accept contract button - not quite as thrilling as the packet
My TA still sends out a packet! :)

Ok. Thanks

In the past I think I went right through the Health Dept of NYC for myself. But he went to through Vital Check and ended up paying more money

I'm going....regardless. I have my husband and my brother/SIL, and friends. There's a bar and casino....it all sounds good to me. Islands are just the cherry on top of the vacation.

Excellent info, thanks!
You're welcome. I prefer to be helpful, unlike so many other Negative Nelly's on this site [emoji5]

From what I understand from carnival, due to new security restraints, the ship has to provide the final manifest 48 hours prior to sailing. There is no more showing up the day of and sailing. However, based on what I've read here, that may not be the case....

Wakula suites in Cocoa Beach. And if you have time, the Italian restaurant diagonally across the street

We had the same issue with ANY. Got our passports in Ga, bit the courthouse said my husband's "certificate of love birth" from NY probably wouldn't be accepted (it was and we got his passport three weeks later). In the meantime I told him to apply in NY for another BC (I HAVE FOUR copies of mine, just in case). It took nearly six months to get a new BC from NY. CRAZY!

I had to completely LMAO when I read this!! I just recently used Vitalchek to get a copy of my birth certificate. I somehow lost mine, and we had a cruise booked for earlier this month, and our passports were expiring at the end of the year. We decided to renew our passports, even the 6-8 week turnaround (actually took less than 3) was well in advance of our September cruise, but in case there was an unforseen snafu renewing our passports, I wanted my BC, "just in case". I requested a copy of my BC through Vitalchek. Their 45-50 business day "turnaround" was still well in advance of our cruise. We started both the passport renewal and BC request back in April. Passports renewed quickly and without issue. BC copy....not so much. Long story short, my BC arrived about 2 weeks before cruise, took almost 5 flippin months through them. I'd would have driven to Pennsylvania to get the BC copy had I known that...and probably would have saved about 50 bucks....
We had the same issue with NY. Got our passports in Ga, but the courthouse said my husband's "certificate of live birth" from NY probably wouldn't be accepted (it was and we got his passport three weeks later). I've been on it recently, and am booked again for next fall. I think it's a GREAT ship. We loved everything about it. I was worried because I read the negative reviews here. No negative reviews from me!

I leave in two weeks. I thought we were spared as the only Port severely damaged was St Martin. Well, Maria has changed that. San Juan, St Kitts and Grand Turk are right in the middle of her path. I guess Carnival will switch our route. I would hate to go back to Belize and Roatan...am really hoping for the ABC islands. Either way, it's a vacation and I have the drink package so I don't really care where we go! Oh, and my husband and I are looking distance so it's 8 days with him regardless.....I am a happy lady!

I miss out on gaining status with my preferred airline because I am a flight or five flights short every year, should they give elite status?
Yep. I am flying a round trip to Boston in Nov just to make sure I keep my A list status on Southwest. I certainly don't expect them to let me have a pass because I am short one round trip flight. I worked hard for my platinum status.

With St Kitts, San Juan and Grand Turk up an running, I am guessing the Vista will don't original route planned for Oct 7 . Maybe replace St martin with half moon Cay? I would be fine with that!

This is a great question and we are booked on the Vista leaving October 7th. Our itinerary was Grand Turk, Puerto Rico, St. Maarten and St. Kitts so pretty much zero chance of that happening although from what I understand the only one that"s 100% out is St. Maarten. We also booked this for the itinerary and it was pretty much Carnival's priciest itinerary due to New Ship and the itinerary. While I understand the circumstances and we are going to have a good cruise regardless of where they take us I have to admit I'll be a bit disappointed if this gets changed to a western itinerary as I could have booked one for 60% of the price of this cruise...oh well, unless they wait to change it until we're on board I can always cancel (bought the insurance) and just rebook a last minute cruise :) Either way, I feel really bad for all the people affected by this storm and having a cruise rerouted isn't really being affected much. Who knows...maybe we stay on the Eastern route and can help with the rebuilding process.
I'm on your cruise as well. Although I wanted to go to those ports, I was there in March and will be back next Oct. For now, any cruise is a good cruise.

Just two in our party. I will check both SAS and JiffyJeff, and thank you for the suggestion for dinner at Dockers. CruiserBruce, thank you so much for your helpful and kind suggestions. Sorry to ask a question that I should have researched prior to bothering you, but I wonder why you felt the need to answer at all since your only intent was to chastise me.
RIGHT?!?!
