  1. More and more of the Silhouetters are going on the 2018 New England/Canada cruise. Bob & Holly just joined the gang. We are going on that cruise this October and will be missing all of the fun as we don't personally know anyone on the sailing we are taking. But we will meet new friends! Can't wait to find out when the West Bound Transatlantic on the Edge tour opens up as we are hoping it fits our schedules and are really looking forward to getting together with the Silhouetters again.

  2. Corning Museum free with a Sea Pass Card! Cool. How recent does it need to be, or maybe just a Celebrity Sea Pass?

Love the glass shows at sea, and we have visited the museum several times over the last 20 years, but it gas always been on a driving tour of the northeast!

I don't remember a time limit on the Sea Pass cards and free admission - but honestly didn't ask. We just grabbed two cards and took them along when we visited. I know they were several years old - but how old I honestly don't remember. Sorry.

  3. Well I must admit that I've missed out on this benefit several times. The next two cruises I have booked were booked on board and getting upgraded to the next level in the category wasn't mentioned either time. Shame on me for not remembering to ask (I do remember reading about this in the past but honestly forgot about it when booking). Thanks to this thread - I will (hopefully) remember to ask next time.

  4. More questions! Does any remember if the Corning museum still honours the Celebrity sea pass as entry into the museum? Will be stoping there on the way back from our cruise. Yes we can get home from the cruise port in about 7 hrs (not sure how long to clear customs at the border) but thought to take our time driving back

Yes, I have posted to the Summit roll call and my next step is to send an enquiry to the museum [emoji41]

Yes, they still let you in free - as long as you have a Sea Pass card. We've used that benefit. Very nice place. Spent the good part of a day there. We made our own glass items (not included in the entrance admission).

  5. Back before Bistro on Five became sushi, we would eat lunch there after boarding. We had a table by the windows and could see the Statue of Liberty from our table. Now, I didn't see it at first because I was looking for something big - as it was a distance away it was much smaller than I thought it should be. But we could definitely see it. We did not sail past on our way out but I heard that sometimes the ships do that. Maybe you will be the lucky ones to sail past.

  6. Although our excursion wasn't cancelled, we had a time change on one of the excursions we picked for our October cruise. Our cruise is booked thru a TA but Celebrity sent us the email informing us of the time change. I was grateful for the notice. If it had been cancelled - would they have told me? I don't know.

  7. Our muster drill location on the Summit was in the photo lounge and there was no where to sit and it lasted quite a while - some situation they apologized for. I now head down early and find a place to sit even if it's on a window ledge. I stay away from the chairs if they are limited as once I was asked to move for a person with a cane. Ok, I moved, but when I stand in one place my left leg goes numb - no fun at all as then it's not only hard to stand, it's hard to walk when it's time to leave. I'm sure if I asked they would find a place for me to sit but it's that vanity thing and not wanting to actually be "old" that keeps me from asking. So, like I said, I just head down early and camp out. Take a book or use your phone (you're still using land service) and text all of your friends to "remind" them you are on the ship getting ready for a great vacation! :D

  8. I booked all of my excursions online and didn't have any problems. The last one was maybe two weeks ago. The confirmation that printed was horrid (items printing over top of what I wanted to read), but it worked. I do like being able to use my OBC for the excursions online and not waiting until we board and running for the Excursions Desk - and paying a higher price on many that we chose. But a phone call also works like others have said.

  9. Hi gang,

I know it's not a cruise but I just posted my review, report, critique (with lots of photos) of our trip to the Low Country of South Carolina and Georgia. We had a super time and you can see the whole thing by clicking here.

    Jim,

Thanks for sharing your trip to South Carolina and Georgia. It's been a long, long time since we've been in that area of the country and were recently thinking of going back. Very nice - and very informative. Lots of helpful hints if we do go.

  10. Thanks for the helpful ideas. They had always shown in the past, don't understand why things have changed but they told me on the phone that they no longer show that OBC received for booking onboard will no longer show on the paperwork. This was before I asked. There are a lot of codes listed on the paperwork

  11. We booked onboard and transferred the booking to our TA. We then changed the sailing to the one we wanted (it was not yet available when we were on board). Our TA said that they no longer show the OBC earned from Celebrity for booking onboard (they did in the past) on our reservation, but that we still get it. Has this happened to anyone else? My concern is that when we board, the OBC will not be credited to our account and since it does not show on the reservation we currently have from the TA, don't know how we would prove that we should get it. I did keep the paper from when we were onboard and the original reservation we booked just in case of a problem - but don't know if it will help as it's not on the reservation from the TA.

  12. Count us in. Ok, so I've kept up to date with the thread but as I really didn't have anything meaningful to say, I just didn't post anything. BUT - fall of 2019 sounds good to us. 2018 wouldn't have worked, but 2019 should be fine. We are sailing on the Summit this October (New England and Canada) and on the Solstice in January 2019 (New Zealand to Sydney). As Jim's vacation goes from July to June, he will be fine for vacation time (but wouldn't be able to do New England and Canada in the Fall of 2018 and New Zealand in January 2019 which is why we didn't change our cruise to join this group on that cruise). I may not have quite enough vacation as we're taking three weeks in January and this cruise will most likely be two weeks minimum, but I shouldn't have a problem getting time off even if I go over my allotment.

  13. Yes, watch out for the taxi drivers that claim there is a "flat fee" for the fare. In December we were given a taxi (in the taxi line at the airport) with the phone number 999-9999 on the side (not too many of those). We were going to the Embassy Suites. We stay there often so know the fare is around $12 - $13 plus tip. As we were approaching the hotel, the driver tells us that there is a minimum fee of $20 when coming from the airport. We told him that wasn't true and paid him according to the meter (it was running). He wasn't happy, but we knew he was lying and when we took a picture of his license plate he left. This was the first time we've had this happen - just be aware that not all drivers are honest.

  14. Hi Penny - can you change it and move to 2018? We are hoping to get a Silhouetters group together.

Well, if we move it to 2018 we'll have to think of something else to do in 2017. I'm sure we can come up with something! Does anyone know which of the three offerings they are thinking of taking? There seems to be three itineraries per season - early/mid September; late September/early October; and October. The only one that really worked for us in 2017 was the October itinerary. Depending on the dates, either of the other two may work in 2018 - we would have to wait and see the actual dates. We will definitely keep it in mind when the new schedules come out and the Silhouetters decide which date they are going to chose. It would be great to sail with the fantastic group of shipmates we enjoyed on the Silhouette.

  15. We are! We booked a 2017 Fall Foliage on board but plan to move it to 2018 as soon as they come open. Would love to cruise with you guys again.

    Jim

Jim - so which 2017 Fall Foliage cruise are you booked on? We are on the one leaving October 7, 2017 (Summit). Booked it when it first came out - don't remember exactly when but I think it was back in January. We'd be more than willing to take care of the transportation to the Quebec Military Tattoo for you if that's the one you're on!

  16. I've been in a hot air balloon in Albuquerque, but never been to the Balloon Fest. Sounds like you will have a great time.

Next cruise is in December on the Silhouette. We are on a wine cruise thru the big box store (Cos...) which is also our TA. No upcharge in price, but included the beverage package, OBC, private special wine pairing lunches, specialty dining and two private behind the scenes tours. Didn't especially like the ports, but couldn't beat the price and added perks so signed up for it many months back. Looking forward to a very relaxing cruise - unlike the whirlwind British Isles cruise - which was one of the best we've taken - but very tiring. We were beat when we got off the ship in Amsterdam.

That apple strudel sounds wonderful. So does the venison and wild boar stew - Morven & Uwe - you lead quite adventurous lives.

    Wishing the best to all.

  17. Does anyone have the link to order the Tattoo DVD? I tried the website but couldn't find where to order the DVD. I'm sure it was looking me right in the face and I couldn't see it - but I gave up. Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Penny
