We sailed the Sun at the beginning of August and would recommend it. We had an interior and for the three nights it was a good choice. The Sun’s interiors are some of the larger in the NCL fleet.

Anyone have any suggestions for specialty drinks to try on the Sun? I can't seem to find the drink menus online.

Sorry no menus, but did think of something else I ordered and enjoyed. Prosecco with St. Germain.

No chocolates or my favorite, the Espresso Martini. I did enjoy the cosmos, though. Usually went directly to a bar and ordered it as a Tito’s Cosmo to get preferred vodka. They also had brand amaretto and sambuca among other name brand liquors. Best bet is to order in person and ask for a specific brand if you wish. Enjoy your trip. We sure did!

Thanks to all for your advice. Will most likely use HHP for our 2019 trip

We are embarking on St. Patrick’s Day at the MCT. Driving in from RI. Will the parade hold up our arrival at the terminal or is it far enough away from the ships?

If there are 4 in the cabin, they can open the couch up to only a twin size, giving you more floor space. That’s what they did on our recent sailing. If it is a party of 5, or upon request, the sofa will be full or queen I suppose.

We are leaving this weekend for a cruise with our 2 year old. We are bringing some favorite snacks from home (fruits snacks and squeezeable applesauce) for the cabin and some sticker books(restickable so they won’t do any damage) for entertainment in addition to some previously mentioned ideas. And some packets of Lysol wipes for wiping down cabin surface and table tops prior to use. We can’t forget the “lovies” either for bedtime lol! Looking forward to spending some time in Guppies with our LO; it is not drop off style on tour ship. Have a wonderful trip and enjoy the time together as a family!

Wr are in the same category. From the YT videos I’ve searched, the fifth sleeping option is in the ceiling. Balcony will give you a different bathroom; one sink and a shower. You will have a similar bathroom to the OV you have booked, plus a balcony with the mini. I suggest viewing the spreadsheet of Breakaway cabins (perhaps someone could add a link) and view videos out there. Let us know what you decided. We’re sticking with our OV since we really wanted that bathroom configuration and the window seat.

I literally got home about an hour ago from the 2-2-18 Sailing. Good cruise but far from problem free. Entertainment overall was very weak. Burn The Floor and the Manhattan Band along with Dizzy were good. Most of the other entertainment was poor. The Highway Rock Band playing in Fat Cats were terrible, I love the 80's and 90's music but they were just bad. The juggler and his wife were pretty bad also.
On this cruise their were a lot of older people, many people in scooters and some people who should have just stayed at home. Certain decks had a gauntlet of scooters to wade thru. The large pool in the thermal spa was closed about 50% of the cruise. The sea's were a little rough at times but I was told by the staff since they had so many older people on board they did not want to take any chances.
Boarding on 2-2-18 was a Cluster Puck to say the least, people still coming off at almost Noon. We left about 3 hours late because their was "So Much Baggage To Board" Leaving late was fine because I was able to get a Time Lapse video at night going down the river.
.
I enjoyed watching this video. Thank you for posting it.

I’d like to get a cruise related gift for the family. We are cruising in March and the final payment is due on Christmas! I think this rules out an NCL gift card, which can only be used for cruise payment, right? Is the On Board Credit certificates for sale on the NCL website a good option? Can they be used for Bingo, casino, gift shop purchases or photos? Thank you all in advance for clarifying how NCL gift cards and on board credit certificates work.

Will there be menu changes at the start of the new year? We cruise in March, so I’m curious to know what to add to my list of Must Tries and Avoids

Perhaps a hole puncher and lanyard for your room key. Bon Voyage!

Hi,
I am cruising with my 1-year-old daughter on breakaway next month, she still doesn't eat solid foods yet and we need to blend the food into puree to feed her. Is carrying a mini blender allowed in Breakaway.
I have searched the forum and all the posts related to this topic is very old. I am not sure about the latest rules and restrictions about carrying a mini blender.
thanks in advance.

I think there is a food mill made by Munchkin that you just crank to blend food. Not as convenient but may do the trick.

I really enjoyed your review. We did the same as you, Princess pre-kids, one Disney Cruise and now trying the Breakaway. We are trying a family ocean view; I wanted a tub and that porthole to sit by and watch the water. We’re bringing a portable DVD player to make up for the lack of tv options. Like you said, nice for getting ready in the evening! My LO isn’t old enough for Splash but I’m looking forward to playing with her at Guppies. We’ll be sure to request dance floor seating at MDR...when LO there be dancing/music around 5:00? My oldest will really enjoy if that’s the case. Thanks

Slightly off topic i know but everyone here seems to have some sort of experience with NCL.
Dose anyone know if the premixed cocktails are the frozen type and do they just add the alcohol to the mix?
Sorry to hijack your thread, I will delete if this is not aloud.

No help here, but wanted to thank you for a trip down memory lane. I'll have to look for it for my little ones now that you've sparked my memory. Good luck!

I've been enjoying the favorite dishes thread but now want to know what is a waste of calories for you. Please mention why you dislike the particular food; one man's trash is another's treasure, right? Thank you.

What are some of the best packing tips, or packing supplies, that you can share?
I like bringing a shoe organizer that velcros to the closet rod. We use it for all sorts of items. It's just a nice way to store many items in their own little compartments without taking up a lot of space.

NCL Sky vs NCL Sun

Yes, it was Port Canaveral. We got a Lyft from the hotel we stayed at the night before (Residence Inn) and another back to MCO so I can’t speak for the parking. Embarkation was very easy; security check with metal detector to walk through then a 10 minute wait to check in and get our ship cards. We get there early (10ish) and chit chat with fellow cruisers until the ship is ready around 11:30.
