  1. This may be better posted on the Celebrity board if you're looking for info on the Century.

I can tell you, having cruised Celebrity, that you will miss your trivia as they don't offer it. IMO Celebrity offers a different ambiance than Princess and trivia doesn't fit that vibe.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy Celebrity but prefer Princess.

One of the things I like about Princess is the free laundry I get now I'm Elite. No self-serve laundry facilities on Celebrity and the fees are exorbitant. Anything longer than 7 nights and you need to factor that extra cost into your cruise fare.

  2. I could be wrong, but I doubt there were very many requests to Princess to add hamburger to the dinner menu every evening.

I was on the Dawn Princess in Alaska in 2001. A gentleman at our table for 8 would complain loudly about the menu offerings every night. I think it was on the 4th night he asked the waiter in an exasperated voice "What does a guy have to do to just get a decent burger around here?" The unflappable waiter did just that for him!!

We had other issues on this cruise with this gentleman, so when shortly after this Princess introduced the Personal Choice dining we took advantage of it.

I like to try things I wouldn't have at home when I'm on a cruise, however I'm sure that it was for this gentleman and his peers that Princess introduced the Homestyle Menu. Different strokes for different folks!

  3. Thanks for a refreshingly unbiased review of the Royal Princess. Hopefully our paths will cross on another Princess Cruise one day as you sound like the kind of people I enjoy meeting when I travel!

Interestingly enough as I type this there's breaking news on the CBC - Rob Ford has just admitted to smoking crack!!! Unreal.

  4. I have found within North America I can generally get flight cheaper than EZ Air however we have done extremely well booking through EZ on European flights...in Sept. YVR, LHR, FCO and VCE, LHR, YVR was about $536 each round trip which was an outstanding price.

I agree with you about N.A.

But your European flights - Wow! That is a great price. Was that flying BA?

  5. Some of your favourite treats that you can't source on the ship and likewise some nibblies/nuts for your balcony wine sessions. Sadly, olives are no longer available at the buffet.

I like to buy these (and wine if possible) at a supermarket near port and avoid using luggage space.

I've asked nicely at Crooner's or Adagio and the bartender has been happy to give me a wine glass full of olives. The blue cheese stuffed ones are especially yummy. :)
