@waytoodeep03 I be a few questions from reading your post.

Did you notice the dog’s owner anywhere nearby ?

Did you speak to someone at Guest Services or an officer to notify them about the dog being off leash?

If you didn’t mention the dog to someone in authority, why not?

I am very uncomfortable about any dog being off leash whether it is by itself or walking with its’ owner.

If I saw such a situation on a ship, I would notify someone in authority and, most likely,I would take a photo with my phone of the dog.

    MJ🙋🏻

Yes I actually spoke with the owner. He said "Its California we love dogs"  He was a nice guy but still couldnt figure out how he managed to get that dog onboard and then have the dog roam around off leash.

Dog did stay near him and came when called.

  2. We recently went out of California on the radiance and there was an off leash dog roaming around the ship. This is the first time Ive ever seen a dog aboard a cruise line. This was NOT a service animal but a guy's pet. This was also a full grown dog and not a puppy roaming on the deck off leash.

Does carnival allow pets on ships?

Not sure where you think you have posted this but THIS is the Cozumel board.

I haven’t ever been horse riding  in Cozumel and I am not sure it is that popular, hence the probable lack of response. Since you seem to be short of replies I will share what I know, so perhaps you can research further.

In many years of visiting Cozumel the only places I have heard about, or seen, him are Rancho Buenavista on the east side and Mr Sanchos. Both are used by the cruiselines, I believe but can be booked independently. Maybe you used one if these previously?  Not sure if there would be much saving when you figure in transport but I guess it depends what else you want to do with the day. Rancho you will need a driver who stays with you so you would need to book a number of hours. There are reviews on TA but the website seems to be down so I don’t know if they have reopened since Covid shutdown.

Looks like some moderator failed to read the actual content and moved it to the Cozumel board. 🤦‍♂️

Ok thanks for the tips I will look into them

On my Celebrity cruise this past April, we docked, disembarked and went off to meet our taxi driver.  Realized we weren't at the pier we were at in January while on Pride.  And that wasn't the pier I was at on MSC .  Turned out, the Summit docked at the old pier, where we docked on my very first cruise on Jubilee April 2001.  Had never docked there any time after that.

They all seem to be downtown to me.  And I have no idea what each pier is called.  But I think I liked the one where Carnival docks the least.

Agreed. The one Carnival docks at is boring.

The downtown pier is the best. Lots to see and do. Don't have to take a cab to go many places as it is all right there

  5. Usually when cruising we go to one terminal that has a lot of vans and out door vendors which is a short drive from chankanaab. Last time we went to Cozumel they dropped us off in another part that looked more like a downtown area. It was very busy, lots of shops and buildings.  I remember going to a Hooters close by for wifi. It was a much better port than the usual.

What determines which port the ship goes to?

Yeah, I feel you. The wife and I have been to ensenada before so we weren't depending on an excursion too much. But we would have liked to get a couple massage or hit the casino after dinner for a bit. But no biggie I guess. There's still a chance from what I gather 🤞🏻🤞🏻

massage and casino work fine . They are open in the evening so thats when we went to  gamble. We got the massage during the hours they were open as well.

  7. Yes it was available but last I checked they close 3 times per day for cleaning (Covid change), making it impossible for us as a married couple to go on excursions. They closed for lunch and we had to pick up our kids which for excursions usually last through lunch. So we had to take them onshore with us and they are too young to do many excursions

So be forewarned if that was your intention.

You missed the point. If anyone takes their children to anywhere, parenting doesn't cease. One is still responsible for their child 24 hrs a day. All other services are supplementary.

If childminding is a must requirement for a vacation,  then the children are better left at home.

Disagree with this. This can be a family trip as well as a little one on one with mom and dad alone.

Too many parents get too wrapped up in their kids and forget about their spouse. They don't realize that before the kids it was the spouse.

Carnival goes all around the world.  England,  Spain, Rome, Iceland,  Hawaii,  Alaska,  Panama, Honduras,  etc.

You need to choose other itineraries.

.. Yea i did. Literally an England and Spain transatlantic cruise that just so happens to make a stop in... You guessed it... grand turk.

Which is the whole reason for the thread. When even the European cruises have to make stops here it brings up questions as to why and what is so special about this place

  10. An overwhelming majority of cruise itineraries go to Grand turk.

I even saw a transatlantic cruise on jubilee from europe that sure enough has a single stop in grand turk.

What is the deal with this place? I went to grand turk about 7 years ago and it was pretty boring. I remember a lighthouse and a beach

We were done in about 1 hour..

What is the deal with this island on so many itineraries?

Some key differences. Port fees and taxes are MUCH HIGHER for Alaska Cruises. Same can be said for excursion costs. My wife and I are doing 3 mid range excursions and the total for those came to $690. You could easily spend upwards of $1500 for excursions in 3 ports. Not a lot to do in some ports if you are not on an excursion. If you like hiking or just in town shopping then you could probably get by with fewer excursions, but the question would be - why. Best experience would be mid June to late July. Otherwise weather definitely becomes more of a factor. The main Alaskan ports of call are all in a rainforest - that should tell you about how much rain it gets. Stick to mid June to late July unless you are a duck.

Yep I figured there was a catch. The cruise is $25 on carnival but the taxes and port fees are $511 dollars. Why?

  12. My wife and I have been on a ton of carnival cruises. We will make it to platinum on our next cruise. All of our cruises have been out of Florida or California to hot destinations.

We recently came across these alaskan cruises that are like 25 bux per person which is just amazing.

I want to go but am having a hard time convincing her to go to Alaska.

How different is the alaskan cruise compared to the others?

We are in our late 30s so she is also concerned about the cruise being full of 60 - 70 year olds.
