  1. Just off a 20 day cruise on the Royal. The room fridge is empty so you need to buy mixers (Sodas) if you order Alcohol from Room service. They do 6 pay for 5 for $11.50 but a better offer is 2 for 1 from Crooners Bar 3 till 4pm happy hour, where you will pay $2.05 for 2 diet coke. On sea days the Bar is crowded so my tip is go on port days and buy what you need for the rest of your cruise, also a good idea to stock up on beers for the deck party night, 2 Budweiser for $5.95. Just ask for them to go.

  2. Thanks for you replies. We will be getting a drinks package but thought we might just buy a bottle to take into Dubai after the cruise. My main concern is getting a bottle for our time in Dubai after the cruise, if we bring it from the airport to take on the ship I don't want to have to go to the naughty room or be embarrased because we are taking liquor aboard and if you can't buy it from the Duty free shop onboard or from Room Service, then I guess this will be our only option.

  3. We are cruising on the Serena in Dubai. Does anybody know if they have a Duty Free Shop onboard so that you can buy spirits to take off the ship to consume in Dubai? Also can you buy a bottle of spirits from Room Service to consume in your cabin like you can on Celebrity or Princess or is there just the mini bar?

  4. We are doing the 20 nt Caribbean on the Royal this November, it is a B2B calling at the same ports as you mentioned. We have done the caribbean loads of times but we are going for the weather to escape some of the winter. We paid £1399 for an inside numbered cabin including flights. I will report back on our experience in December. We have cruised many times with Princess so the repeat menus and entertainment doesn't bother us.

  5. The Carambola on South Friar's Beach is fabulous, lovely and quiet, safe for children and luxury loungers at $10 each but another $10 for umbrella. St. Marten turn left as you get off the water taxi, and walk a few minutes up the prom. 2 padded loungers first line to the sea, umbrella and a choice of 6 drinks either beers, sodas or water or any combo, with free wifi and restrooms at the restaurant all for $25, the name of the restaurant slips my mind but it begins with A and the umbrellas and lounge cushions are bright blue, cannot miss them.

  6. TCX 254 is a Friday flight using the A330-200, on the cruise Personaliser you can select row 36 which shows this is a row of 2 seats not 3 but the plane configuration has been uploaded to the P&O site wrongly, therefore if you do select row 36 this will be a row of 3 seats and not 2. I hope this clarifies my earlier post.

I know the airline seat you together if they can but we like to sit on a row of 2 at the rear of the plane because neither I or my DH like to sit in the middle seat of 3.

  7. This was the Cabin we were allocated (an upgrade from a LC grade), as we booked a Getaway fare. This Cabin is over the Playhouse Theatre and is extremely noisey. There are usually 2 shows per night 8.30 and 10.30 so it is difficult to sleep when the orchestra is playing as it also rattles the cabin walls the base is so loud, it can even be heard when you have the television on and not everyone wishes to be up until after 11.30pm even on their holidays. Also there are rehearsals each day sometimes early about 1pm but usually either 4 or 5 o'clock.

We complained to the Front desk but they said that everyone has different tollerances to noise, that being said and noted, but P&O show you the cabin views on their FAQs but they should also give the noise situation as well.

I think that most cabins on E deck (8) will suffer from noise as the aft cabins are over the Manhattan Lounge, another music venue.

  8. We booked and paid £60 for 2 seats together when the flightplanner opened up 9 weeks before departure.

We were informed by email 3 days before we flew that row 36 does not exist on this flight. If you have booked these seats (2 seats instead of 3) then you are going to be greatly disappointed as we were. P&O were not very helpful with regards to 2 seats together, in the end we changed the flight to Thomsons dreamliner premium seats at a cost of £249 each, as this was all that was available at such short notice.

So I just wanted to share this with anyone that has row 36 booked so that they have a chance to change there seats.

  9. If you want a snorkelling tour to Klein Bonaire (deserted island) try Woodwind cost $50 p.p. just google it or a 3 hour North and South Island Tour try Bonaire Vista Tours I think this is $30 p.p. great recommendations on Trip Advisor, or you can just stroll around town, there is only one main street with plenty of shops and restaurants. You can see the coral and fish as you walk along the promenade into town.

  10. We were on Celebrity for 28 nights, I think this is where the confusion lies with the costing of the drinks package, I agree for 7 - 14 nights a drinks package is worth it but 28 nights is a bit too much even for me, on some excursions we had early mornings and full days as we sailed from Barcelona to Singapore, taking in the Pyramids, Luxor, Dubai, Kula Lumpar to name but a few. Having said that a bottle of Jameson's whiskey was $84 for cabin consumption compared to £26 with P & O. So for me P&O prices wins hands down.

  11. If you think drinks are expensive on P & O try Celebrity or RCI and with a 15% gratuity on top, on Celebrity a bottle of Jameson whiskey with 6 mixers was $84 for cabin consumption. We have never tried Thomsons and never will because of the ships but if you want a decent ship and good food and entertainment there has got to be a bottom line, P&O allow a small amount of liquor to be brought on board try doing that with RCI and the naughty room beckons, believe me!!!!!

  12. Thank you Sandy for this great Cabin complilation. Today I checked with my TA for an Aqua Class cabin for our October sailing, she came back with cabin 1661. When I checked my current 2012/2013 brochure, this cabin is Conceirge class. I rang her back and she told me that Celebrity have now changed some cabin cats. and this cabin is now an A2 grade, to check the Internet. I did this an now all deck 10 is now Aqua Class. Anyway, it doesn't change the layout, nosie or cabin configuration. I thought I would just point this out as I presumed Celebrity's new brochure would be correct. Thank you for all your hard work.
