  1. That's not true about everyone knowing the SS dress code. We are taking an SS cruise in two weeks with two other couples, both of which I had to recently inform about men needing a jacket a tie, and that this dress code would be enforced on certain nights in certain venues. One couple had a previous cruise with SS on an expedition ship, so thought a bigger ship would have the same dress code. The other couple are first-timers on SS and thought the dress code was optional. So not everyone is aware, and not everyone purposely breaks the dress code.
  2. "And, how ship "values" do not inflate up over time" I agree that used ships, like used cars, do not inflate in value. However, I would guess that inflation will cause the cost of building a new ship to become more expensive, which should have a trickle down effect on the value of used ships. Wouldn't it follow that existing fleets will have more value in an inflated economy?
  3. DW and I will be taking our second Hebridean Island cruise on September 20. It's called "Islands of Contrast" and will be visiting ports in both the Inner and Outer Hebrides. Our original "On the trail of Bonnie Prince Charlie" cruise was planned for September of 2020, but we all know what happened that year. So, this is our make-up voyage and while the ports are not identical, there is some overlap. I have no idea how many of the past officers and crew will still be around, but hoping many of them will be. Anyone out there know who the Purser will be on that voyage?
  4. The message below was received from Silver Sea today in respect to our cruise that departs in two weeks. I'm unclear as to the difference in requirements between fully vaccinated guests and guests who are up to date with their Covid vaccines. It may just be me, but I find this messaging to be muddled. Does anyone out there speak Silverease and can you translate for me? Thanks. PRE-EMBARKATION TESTING REQUIREMENTS Fully Vaccinated Guest Testing Requirements Most Northern European countries require that all embarking fully vaccinated guests must hold proof of a valid Antigen or PCR negative test result performed within 48 hours of embarkation. The test may be administered by a verified third party, either a laboratory or pharmacy, OR A self-test at home, verified by a third party. The Certificate must contain your clients name (as shown on the cruise ticket), as well as the date of test, and result. Your client must provide a digital or printed proof upon embarkation. If your clients are up to date with your Covid-19 vaccines, they must hold proof of a valid Antigen or PCR negative test result performed within 72 hours of embarkation. The test may be administered by a verified third party, either a laboratory or pharmacy OR A self-test at home, verified by a third party. The Certificate must contain your clients name (as shown on the cruise ticket), as well as the date of test, and result. Your client must provide a digital or printed proof upon embarkation.
