I think repositioned is a misnomer.  Today's cruise is cancelled; charters for the next 2 weeks are postponed.  No new cruises for NA have been anounced. so repositioned to limbo.

    Roy

But Gus Antorcha’s letter (see #4 above) specifically used the term "repositioned".  I guess we'll just have to track her on one of the ship tracking websites in order to really know where she's going ...

  2. From the "Frequently Asked Questions" at the bottom of HAL's home page, three packages are shown.  But the only option I had when prepaying for services before boarding was the Premium package.  So the other two may be available onboard -- I'm not certain:

    Available Packages:

    1. Social: Per day package, $14.99. (Access the most popular social websites and applications. May not allow for audio/video calling and streaming.)
    2. Surf (most popular): $24.99. (Surf your favorite sites including e-mail, news, sports and more. May not allow for audio/video calling and streaming.)
    3. Premium: $29.99 (From e-mail to streaming, receive the highest volume of data. Supports audio/video calling and streaming where coverage allows.)

Somebody posted how to switch devices the other day -- logging off from the user's Navigator app, and then logging on from the other user's Navigator's app.  I think.

  3. The Miami stop was added at the last minute -- for whatever reason.  According to the Marine Traffic website, she was headed south and then turned back to make the stop.  I'd really love to know the reason -- the only thing that makes sense is Key West told them to stay away.  But why would that happen mid-sail??

    At Sea Caribbean
Nieuw Amsterdam destination Miami FL US eta today

Given the schedule and destination, I suspect a medical evacuation

It's curious ... PTZtv's Facebook page says she is scheduled into Miami at 15:00 and scheduled to leave at 24:00.  PTZtv is not always correct, but if it is in this case that's more than a routine medical evacuation.  And she's only traveling at 9.4 kn so she's not in a big hurry ...

But she was originally scheduled into Key West ... and local Key West officials have made it known in the past that large ships are not welcome.  So maybe HAL changed the itinerary ?

    This is why I’m confused.

Me too.  I had read earlier that it would be Captain Timmers and I was happy about that because he was Captain of the Koningsdam 2019 transatlantic.  He was great and I was looking forward to sailing with him again on November 5.  But the Facebook message from Captain van Dreumel spoke of "his team".  We'll find out for sure one of these days 🙂

  6. My theory (and I'm pretty sure I read this somewhere on Cruise Critic, so if it was from one of you, my apologies for stealing your thoughts.  I tried to find it again and of course couldn't ...):   Port Everglades is expecting at least one passenger ship in (and back out) every day this week.  Celebrity Edge is due in (anytime now) and then out again today; Celebrity Summit and Caribbean Princess tomorrow; Celebrity Equinox on Friday; Nieuw Statendam on Saturday; and Celebrity Silhouette and Celebrity Edge (again) on Sunday.  I think the crews are coming in to be vaccinated.  Just my opinion (with fingers crossed !).
