I was pretty much done by then, so I retreated to the room. I think it was a combination of all the drinking and the sun in Labadee, plus pigging out @ Chops. But my body had simply shut down on me.

Mom still wanted to walk around, and go to the headliner show. I will be brief and say that she hated it, so far we have not enjoyed any headliner shows on Allure or Oasis. And Oasis had 2 of them, I saw part of the second one… I mean it was better than the a cappella group on Allure, but still enough to keep us there for more than 20minutes.

So like I said, I headed to the room, and enjoyed the balcony for a little.

That night they were binge smoking, and that is when I said to myself, enough is enough. I would take action the next day.

We were going quite fast at almost 20 knots. We were due to arrive at 2pm in Old San Juan.

And after that I retreated to my little corner, and watched some kung fu panda. I will say one thing, I actually loved sleeping on the floor. My bed here at home is very low to the ground, that is simply the way I like it. Actually for the longest time I simply had a mattress on the floor, until one day my mom made me buy a bed. I went out and got the lowest bed that I could find.

Overall, it had been a fantastic day, one for the books :). Then again any day that I get to spend with my princess on a cruise ship is one to cherish for lifetimes.

    End day 3.

Gambee, it brought tears to my eyes when I read your quote above regarding your Mom. You are the sweetest young man I have ever seen when it comes to your Mom. Also you are very handsome. Loved the selfie picture. Thanks for your amazing review. Shirley

  2. Thank you for your awesome review. Sydney Harbor is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. My late husband took our daughter and I there when she graduated from college. She was a scuba diver and wanted to dive the Great Barrier Reef; he learned to scuba dive, just to be able to dive with her. We had an amazing 2 week stay. Such an amazing place to visit; wish I could go back. Thanks, Shirley

  3. Next Stop Oahu Honolulu

(That was something that was difficult for me in Hawaii. There were lots of island, port, city, state? names and they were all similar and our stops were back to back so I kept getting confused about what to call the place that we were at at any one time)

Our plan for this day was to rent a car go to Waikiki Beach and then drive the scentic coast. Gary booked a rental car at the airport and we thought there was a shuttle from the port to the airport. We waited and waited but none came. (Turns out they dont come there). We walked out towards the street to find a taxi or call a Uber driver. That walk was long and we were all disappointed about waiting there so long so this part may have had some bickering...:D lol. Anyway, we grabbed a taxi and and took the LONG ride to the airport. It would have been a better ride if there was scenery but there was nothing but busy street and regular city stuff to see. Once we got to the airport, we had a hard time finding the rental car office. I guess we were dropped of at rental car returns instead of pick ups and it made a HUGE difference. Bwe were really bickering by now and we were hot and irritable. But we did eventually find the car and get on the way to fun.

Once in the car, air conditioning blastiing, nice music on and liquid to drink, we were all our happy bubbly selves again! Off to find Waikiki beach. We had been dreaming of this from the first time we ever saw a Hawaiian beach scene on t.v.. It was not a fun drive. Traffic! Blah. But we did get there. We even found free parking. Then we got to the beach and it was, meh. I mean, it was a beach, we're in Hawaii, the water is clear (besides the warning of jellyfish) and it's fine but it's not our dreams... It was something you had to do once but it was public and not the cleanest and just meh.

The Sheraton Waikiki (just behind Shon's cap in first picture) was our hotel on 2 different vacations to Hawaii. That is a beautiful area on Waikiki beach.

  4. I'm looking to book a cabin on the Oasis and have read many reviews stating the last cabin in the BWV category was the best to get. Specifically, a lot of people suggested #10729. I normally book a cabin midship, so was hesitant to book so far aft. Many reviewers complained of the long walk. I don't mind the walking, but was worried my children would not be happy about it. So, after much thought, I decided it was a beautiful view and worth the extra walking. Unfortunately, that particular cabin is no longer available. (even though it was still open a couple hours ago!) My question is this... Would it be better to book a cabin 3 from the end (#10725) or drop down one floor and still have the very last cabin (#9729)? I was worried that deck 9 might not be high enough to enjoy ocean views. My options are limited because I have 3 people in our cabin. My friends traveling with us only have 2 in a cabin and they have a much better selection of cabins. Any pictures, advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

I have had cabin 10729 on 2 cruises on Allure; I would move down one level and get that cabin. It is awesome; I love sitting on the balcony and watch the water show and people watch. Also love the ocean view. Enjoy Shirley

  5. Yes ... anyone who thinks the "Mexican Fiesta" is the same thing as a "Midnight Buffet" is new to cruising, lol ...

Ask anyone who cruised back in the 80's what comes to mind when you say "midnight buffet" ... and they will tell you: -- Huge, lavish buffets, with several very large ice sculptures and fruit sculptures, and FOOD FOOD FOOD, I mean tables and tables of food - These were the biggest buffets I had ever seen and were always in the main dining room, and people stood in line for an hour to just LOOK at it and take pictures ... then stand in another line to get the food.

Ahh, yes ... I remember a couple midnight buffets and I miss them. This would be the only reason I would consider a Journey cruise.

    Cheers!

NCL had a chocolate buffet on the Norway; it was the most amazing thing I had ever seen.

  6. Hello!

I have spoken to a lot of people and taken lots of advice, but with my first cruise now only 2 weeks away I wanted to hear some experiences :)

I am very worried about sea sickness as I get motion sick, but hoping I'll be fine on my southern Caribbean cruise on serenade.

I was going to get the patch, with tablets as a back up. I have read some brilliant reviews on the patch but also that people can suffer hideous symptoms when they take it off and I don't want to risk that.

I live in the UK and have brought some Bonine from the USA. I an wondering if I would be best to take these and take some patches just in case? I know they do injections in case of sickness too.

    Thank you

I always use the patches and have never had any side effects. Would not do a cruise without them

  7. For those that have flown into Vancouver for your cruise on RCCL and took the train to the pier how much time did you give yourself? I can get a flight coming in at 11:22am and then planned to take the Skytrain to Canada place. I figure it would take until 12:15pm for bags and customs and getting to the station and then 30 minutes to Canada place and then the short walk to the ship. If we make a 12:30 train we should be there around 1- 1:30pm. Is this doable or should be spend more money for a hotel the day before? This is costing a lot more than I anticipated so I want to save money but I also don't want to risk being late for the ship.

We flew into Vancouver for our Alaska cruise; had a lot of problems with Delta. My son in law's luggage somehow was sent to Salt Lake City; my daughter's and my luggage arrived on time. Son in law had to go out the next morning before boarding the ship and buy clothes. Luggage never caught up with us.

With all the problems that can occur; I don't think I would consider flying in the day of. Just my 2 cents worth.

  8. what is wrong with some of the people on here?

They want so bad to not believe this guys story that they will go through great lengths just to prove him wrong.

Playing detective, looking for holes in the story so they can prove it is all fake.

I bet someone even called nassau to see if the can locate alfred.

Do you really think this guy joined cc 10 years ago just to set up the hoax of the century on you?

Some people seemed to have a little to much time on their hands.......

    like!!!!!!!

  9. He said on his blog "Cruising with Gambee" that he would have the review up about a week after he returns. Saw them sail away yesterday the ship is beautiful; love his reviews. Especially his photos!!!
