Yes, a permanent placement would require AUD onboard, AU power outlets etc.  Tips and gratuities are really a formatting thing.  Carnival including P&O and Princess include it in their pricing in Australia so it is not obvious; that doesn't mean they are not charging it.  I imagine RCCL would probably use the same strategy.

Not just the daily tips I was referring to but the addition to drinks and of course using US$ kills the budget for us   IF  RC  changes to use the3 same criteria as the Carnival australia format then I would be happy to cruise with them

    The saga continues!

Last night I decided to have lamb for dinner and wanted to try one of the shirazes. Unfortunately they have run out of two, possibly three, of the shirazes leaving only an expensive one which is not one I particularly like.

I was just about to settle for the McLaren Vale Stump Jump GSM (which we like) when the sommelier decided to "help". I ended up with a glass of the Premier package Cotes Du Rhone at no extra charge.

They probably wish they could chuck me overboard but probably won't while we're paying extra for wines by the bottle! 🤔😯🤣

On the world 2023  they ran out of rose and shiraz    why do they not pack more as they are popular

The idea of bed bugs and the possibility of bringing them home terrifies me. I've never encountered any, but still always check and take precautions.

I'm doing a week trip to Sydney soon and my sister plans to take her own pillow and blanket to the hotel. I would never do that for fear of bed bugs coming home.

Just a memory a good neighbour went to the Ballieric Islands and brought home cockroaches (which we did not have in our area in England)  She had to throw away her suitcases as they warned her about eggs having been laid in the seams

  4. Sorry you had that bad experience Corrine   I have never had this on a cruise but years ago 1959  we went to Switzerland and I was badly bitten by bedbugs there and the tour guide took me to a doctor as I had them near my eyes   They took forever to go away but I am very allergic to bites

Hope your skin has recovered but do not let it put you off cruising for ever  it offers great sites and places  (and people)

When you visit Dravuni, make sure you pop into the school where you will be welcomed. It is for the younger children only. The older children spend the school week on a nearby island where the school can accommodate more grades. We usually take some school supplies and children's books for the school.

Evon Last time we took goodies for the school  it was holiday time so closed but the cleaner let us in and t5pook us to a room to leave the stuff   IT was packed to the ceiling with bags and backpacks which had not been unloaded   They obviously get a lot of presents - perhaps more than needed and there are other islands now that need assistance

  6. Asking for an Australian friend who is taking a repositioning cruise on P&O at end February  Singapore to Sydney

P&O have advised them that they need a visa BEFORE THEY EMBARK  I know that Indonesia will give you one on arrival but the message from P&O appears to say  No visa before you get on the ship  you will not be allowed to embark.

My friend has tried to get the visa (approx $50) pp on line and got all the way through the application but it asked for FULL address of place they will stay in Indonesia.  He tried the ships name but it would not accept this.

I am sure someone else has had this problem and solved it   (I suggested the name of the land agent at the first stop but not sure about this)Please can you advise what you or anyone you know did for this problem     I could not help as being a Brit I do not need a visa.  Thanks in advance
