When we sailed on the Epic, last year, we stayed at a Quality Inn with free parking. The only problem was that when we checked in, there was no space on the shuttle at the time we wanted to leave. The hotel said hat if we had called the day before they would hav made a reservation for us.

I believe the list said no canned sodas, so sodas that are served in the dining room in a glass would be covered.

Great review. Great pictures. Glad you had a good time and sorry about the loss of Tino.

Great review so far - looking forward to the rest! I was concerned about the Cirque show, so I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. We're sailing on the 16th so I'm getting excited.

Really enjoyed your pictures! Thanks for posting!

When is your cruise? Your signature says 2-18-12 on the Epic. Is that last year? If you are cruising the same time this year, there is a Roll Call for 2-16-13.

Looking forward to the next installment!

This review is going to be a hoot!

Hmm - we're headed to NOLA for Mardi Gras. I expect we'll see a lot of the seedy side.

NCL air package was more than $700 per person for a flight from Boston to Seattle via United with a stop in Denver; I was able to book a non-stop flight on JetBlue for slightly more than $400 per person.

This is, single-handedly, the best review of a cruise (albiet one marred with misfortune that you seemed to take with grace and humor) I have -ever- read in my years of cruising.
I would cruise with you any day of the week. If you are not writing for publication, you should be. ;)
I absolutely agree! Love your attitude!
What got you hooked on using Cruise Critic?

I joined several years ago, just before my cruise to Alaska on the Norwegian Pearl. I had a mid-ship balcony cabin. I joined the Roll Call group and enjoyed getting to know my fellow passengers. Shortly before the cruise one of the roll call members announced that she had been offered an upgrade to the Owners Suite and was giving up her aft balcony cabin. I immediately called my TA and asked to be switched to her aft cabin. He thought I was nuts " there will not be an aft cabin available so close to sailing". But he tried, and I was able to snag that cabin! Perfect for an Alaskan cruise!
BTW, that roll call member was very nice and invited many of us to a cocktail party in her suite!
