  1. Do cruise directors overlap when there is a change up? I'm sailing on the Vista on 7/8, on the schedule it shows Matt Mitcham ending on 7/14 and Jamie Dee starting 7/8.

I'm also sailing on July 8th and was wondering the same thing because we booked 3 weeks earlier than usual to have Matt as CD. He's brilliant and has us laughing at all times!

  2. Yes, I'm 47 and find the music played by the DJs too loud. I was aboard the Victory 3 weeks ago, and couldn't stay for the Sail Away Party because of the super loud music. I was getting the biggest headache. It may be the style of music that they play. I don't find the Caribbean music played by the live bands loud at all though. I always go to the aft pool because the music played there is not as loud.

  3. Yes, I sailed on it 3 weeks ago and it looks absolutely beautiful with all of the upgrades! I have sailed on it 7 times and it has always been so well maintained. The first time that I sailed on it was in 2004, then ten years later in 2014, it looked as new as the first time that I sailed on it.

  4. I'm loving your review! I was also on this sailing. This was my 7th time on this ship. I live 30 minutes away from the Port of Miami so I always sail on this ship for shorter cruises. When I went to the deli, I asked the girl that was making the sandwiches if she could make me a tuna on whole wheat bread, and she said no because the sandwiches were pre-made. There was only one other person in line, and she wouldn't make it.

  5. Thanks for the kind words, glad you liked the review. I can't say that I've had a "bad" steward but there has been a noticeable decline in service, likely through no fault of their own but like you said being assigned too many rooms. I have peeked on their carts a couple times and saw their list of rooms - most seem to be assigned 35-38 which is an awful lot of rooms.

I have booked Cucina on my next Carnival cruise on the Magic. I'm taking my mom on her birthday. I'm looking forward to trying it out :D

I always take my mom on her Birthday. I will be taking her in July! She loved the Vista!

  6. I love your detailed and honest review, and the amazing pictures that you took. I live in Miami(30 minutes away from the port) and have sailed aboard the Vista twice, and will be sailing on it for the 3rd time in July. On my last four cruises this past year(aboard the Vista twice, Victory, and Splendor), we have only seen the steward 2-3 days. I miss the days when you would see them everyday, and they would come around in the morning and evening after or before cleaning the cabin asking if we needed anything. They are being assigned too many cabins. The service everywhere it's not like it used to be. On your next cruise, you must try the Italian restaurant. It is so delicious. We always eat there 3 nights.

  7. I have cruised solo 6 times out of my 29 cruises. I live 30 minutes away from The Port of Miami. If you love cruising, you won't mind cruising solo at all. You will have a great time. At dinner, they will seat you with singles and other solos. I always book my excursions through the ship whether I'm sailing with others or solo. I feel safer that way.
