  1. Returned to OSJ this morning from the Adventure of the Seas and discovered that both Old Harbor Brewing and Pizza e Birra (in El Convento) have closed. Thankfully, Taberna Lupulo is hopping (pun completely intended), but it is a small place and they don't serve food until around 6pm.

  2. I've been on Adventure and Serenade out of San Juan multiple times and muster was between 5:30-5:45. However last month on Jewel, muster was at 8 and we sailed at 8:30. We had tablemates who didn't get onboard until almost 6. I'll be on Adventure again in just over three weeks and can answer better then, but I think RCCL has changed up the times for all aboard and muster within the past year.

The Set Sail pass says 7pm for last aboard. We are in line at present. We got here at 10:20 and there were about 3-4 dozen people ahead of us. 40 minutes later it's easily six times that many.

  3. I know Disney embarks from Pan Am Pier but do they have their own terminal or make use of Royal's or another line?

They're new to San Juan, so I don't know. My guess says if they're the only one using the Pan Am pier, they'll use Royal's side.

  4. I should make note that Royal Caribbean and Celebrity both use the Pan American pier, but use different check in buildings. I know there's a liquor store in the Royal Caribbean building. I've never embarked from San Juan on Celebrity so I do not know if their building has one or not.

  5. You'll need to take a taxi or the bus to get into OSJ. The free trolley only runs in the old part of the city. As for rental cars, parking in OSJ can be difficult. You either need to luck out and find a spot on the street (be prepared to use every parallel parking skill you've ever learned), or expensive in the garages.

  6. Just checked moon schedule for our week in PR 3/20 to 3/25/16 it is at 92% will in be worth it to go? it was on our to do list!

The tours might not even be available during that moon cycle. If they are offered, I'd probably say it isn't worth the cost. There isn't that much glow offered from the organisms in the water.

  7. Yes, it is customary to tip taxi drivers, and they will be moving your luggage in and out of the trunk or back of their vehicle. We usually tip a little less than restaurant servers, around 12-15%.

  8. my wife and i are booked on a biobay tour next week on celebrity reflection. she's 14 weeks pregnant and the excursion materials recommend that pregnant women not participate. can anyone shed some light on whether its just a suggestion for liability's sake, or if it will really be too strenuous for her?

If you are kayaking in and out, it appeared to be pretty labor intensive for about 45 minutes and and the same out. In the bay/lagoon its calm, but kayaks will still be in motion. If you're taking the electric powered boat of BioIsland, it's no effort at all.

  9. Awesome, I got a car for super cheap, how long is the drive? Do you recall how much they charged?

It was over an hour from the hotel near the SJU airport (Isla Verde area). A lot of time following the directions from the town of Fajardo, including a road near the end of the trip in extremely bad shape - hopefully they've reconstructed it by the time you go. Seriously if you went over 5 mph on it you'd lose both your lunch and your muffler. Bio island cost us something like $60-70 per person IIRC.

  10. Not interested in Kayaking as I have family with us that can not do that, so are there boat tours, I look and look and all I find are kayak type?

BioIsland. Did their tour last February on an electric powered boat.

  11. Thank you hancogran. That explains why we were screened a couple of years ago as we entered the US at MCO. Presumably then we will go through the Ag. Check as we enter SJU?

Yes, the agricultural screening is set up right near the entrance to the terminal. You do that before you do anything else at SJU if you're flying to an airport within the US.
