Absolutely agree with the the Mexican buffet lacking authenticity. But as you noted, we are from California and travel frequently to Texas so we commonly get excellent Mexican food. Also, we wish there were more upscale Mexican dishes available, not just the type of dishes you get from going to a Mexican chain or fast food establishment.
Also agree that there are a few Indian dishes available that are OK to good but disagree that adding additional spices to the dish remedies the lack of spice in the food. Many spices need to be added in the cooking stage to bring out the flavor and aromatics. I'm not talking of "heat" when I say spice - I'm talking about flavor complexity.
Your review was very similar to our thoughts.

Emperor Norton - please keep posting. Also, I'll bet that nobody outside of the Bay Area has ever heard of the historic Emperor Norton.

Really? Nothing more current than 1964? Seems to be more fitting for Holland America. I guess they don't want to attract slightly younger cruisers to the ship - they could have at least mixed in one a bit more modern.

John will we see you at our greet and meet? Check the roll call.
I did not see anything about a meet and greet on my cruise. I suspect you may be getting on in Miami when I'm getting off. So, if that is the case, no, I will not be at your meet and greet.
With respect to the other question asked by an earlier cruiser, I don't know anything about any possible compensation for prior legs which may have not been perfect due to virus or missed ports. It is unlikely in my experience to be compensated for those reasons which were not any fault of the cruise line but you should check with your TA. For the ports missed due to the emergency generator failure there could possibly be some compensation - most likely in the form of a partial credit on future cruises, but I have not heard of any. Again, check with your travel agent.
So far, this cruise has been delightful. The crew seems to be one of the best I've sailed with and we are having a really nice time.
Best,
John

Parts and technicians were for the generator. They expect the repairs/testing will take a few days and then temp unit can be offloaded at a bigger port. I do not have any updates on their progress.
Been onboard two days and having a great time.

Is Code Green equal to normal? Or, are there still restrictions, just less?
Thanks,
John

Lets hope all goes well with the generator. And, that the next cruise segment is without any problems. Are you still on Code Red?
Thanks,
John

Is the ship still on code RED? Any progress being made?
thanks,
John
Jackie - We are not booked for any future voyages beyond the Amazon. That is just because we had a lot going on and have not seen any trips which sparked our interest. We will take a deeper look onboard.

If at level two red the guest laundries are closed, I assume the only alternative is to pay to have laundry done. Has this impacted the turn-around time for laundry? Is it next day or has that been turned into a two or three day turn-around? We are joining on Friday and I'm curious if I should make extra provisions for additional clothing.
Thanks,
John

Oh no - again? Did you stop in Rio and take on more passengers or is this from existing passengers. Feeling badly for those on board but it sounds as if everyone is taking it in stride.
Hopefully, they will get it under control soon. And since handwashing is the most important precaution I'm surprised there isn't some alternative to tissues in the washrooms. We've been on code red cruises before and while the situation isn't great we have always managed to still have a good time. The crew does get pretty ragged from all the extra work they get handed. We will be joining the cruise in a few days and are still looking forward to it. Jackie - Hope you are doing well haven't seen you since South Africa.

Bill,
OK, you have me very curious and wanting to try the "Indian Feast". I assume it is a special order and at least one day ahead of time. I've never special ordered in advance. What did you ask for? "Indian Feast"? Or just a "special" Indian dinner? Or, did you specify what dishes you wanted?
Thanks for your help. Hopefully it will be as good on the Voyager as it was for you on the Navigator. We have had dinner several times with Jamie and Dana and always have a great time no matter what the food is.
Best,
John
