  2. I need to divert a bit to discuss roll calls. Roll calls have a life of their own, sometimes taking off and flourishing and sometimes dying on the vine. The roll call fro our cruise was one of the bigger ones I have ever been part of, I think about 64 cabins participated to some degree.

I noticed a couple of interesting things during the life of the roll call here on CC. The first was that I have never seen such a large amount of posts regarding people using their own excursion companies and looking for others to join in. It dominated the posting on the roll call the last month or so (I am not saying it was a bad thing, just that it caught my attention. I think some joined the roll call for that purpose.

The second thing was the amount of roll over from the roll call here to FB roll call. I don't have a FB account but I do stalk my wife's and saw the activity over there. Again, not bad but more than I have noticed in the past. This leads me to meet and greets.

I have agree with this. I've had amazing roll calls where life long friendships were made. My recent experience is the same I feel it's just a one stop shop for private excursions and if your not interested in that, your kind just left hanging. Not necessarily a bad thing just nothing I've experienced before in a roll call to this extent.

  3. I loved your review! Your pictures were amazing and I love your sense of humor. It sounds like you two had a great time.

My wife and I are long time cruisers who have taken 20+ cruises with the majority of them on RCCL and Celebrity. We have sailed Carnival twice before, but it was a long time ago. I am intrigued on this new Vista ship. Things like a brewery, IMAX, skyride and other features sounds like a lot of fun to me. My kids like ships with water slides, so it sounds like the Vista would be right up our alley.

We have placed a deposit down for a 5-20-17 Vista cruise. I think this ship will be a great match for our family, but I have a few questions I am hoping that you are perhaps somebody else on this board can answer. I have not yet found the answer to these questions:

    1. Is lobster still served in the main dining room (without an upcharge) on sailings of 7 days or longer? I know NCL has removed lobster these days (Booooooo). I am hoping Carnival still has one. As you can guess by my name, I love lobster. We are from Kansas and good seafood in the middle of the US is hard to find.

    2. Does Carnival still have a steel drum band on the pool deck during the day? I thought I heard that was now gone.

    3. My wife loves wine. I mean, she REALLY enjoys trying new wines while in a cruise. RCCL has a vintages wine bar on some of their ships. Does the Vista have a true wine bar? If not, how would you rate the selection of wine on the Vista?

    4. NCL has now started charging to attend the main evening show. I personally think that is pretty silly. Does Carnival charge for the main show like NCL?

Thanks for any help on these questions and once again I loved your review.

When did you cruise NCL? I just cruised them last month and I was not charged to attend the main evening show.

  4. I purchased pre & post cruise transfers for our Med cruise this Sept

However now I don't need them because we need to fly in early and chose to stay later in our last port.

Do you think Carnival will refund or credit me if I call or is all my money lost. I wouldn't make a big deal normally but it's over $200 at stake.

  5. By the way, don't recommend staying towards the bottom of Las Ramblas. From what I've read, it becomes extremely sketchy at night, top end is much better.

    Mr. 305 or Anyone else,

Can you explain the bottom part of Las Ramblas ( street intersections etc) just so I can familiarize myself with the area.
