  1. Just off a cruise where we were the last group off and we were waiting in a public area over 2hours. I wanted to do self assist but we had a lot of luggage and thought it would be too much trouble to carry. Next time I will do self aasist regardless of how much luggage we have.

  2. It's the room service menu in the cabin. Not available on all ships.

Was on the Conquest 7/21/15 and this is the exact menu in the cabin. We ordered the free stuff a couple of times and actually room service was around 15 -20 minutes which is the best we had on a cruise. The ship was packed and we ordered on sea days and port days in late afternoon.

  3. Just back from Conquest June 21st and one of the comedians was pretty famous. Rondell Sheridan from Late Show, Comedy Central and Actor. He played the father in sitcom "That's so Raven".

It was pretty exciting. His stand up was very good and was the best comedian that cruise.

Saw another post that John Herald was on a cruise so got me thinking to find out who else famous was cruising and you might want to share a story.

Can be any level of famous, from athletes, to local legends to movie stars.

  4. The food in the mdr for breakfast and dinner. I have been on 4 different cruise lines and the mdr food is an exceptional value. It is not 5 star but the price you are paying it is 5 star. Even if you want an upgrade, the steakhouse is still a bargain.

Those who complain about the food is most likely to be the buffet.

Also, the price and ports. The port choices are the best.

  5. We were on the June 21st sailing and our cabin on 8th floor Aft was warm when we arrived. We thought once the ship got moving it will get to normal. It got better but still warm for us.We called for service and the tech came within 30min and opened the vent of the a/c wide open. A/C got better just enough for us to not complain but we had to do all the tricks everyone has been mentioning like keeping curtains closed at all times even when not in room. Also, it seemed like some days were better than others.

Definitely there is some sort of a/c issue. We have been on crowded ships and not have this issue.

  6. Our's was Crystal Geyser. We ordered two 12 pks, and though it was not in our cabin when we boarded, it was delivered before the muster drill.

Our 24 pack was same brand above but water was waiting in room when we arrived. Also, we saved the empty bottles to refill (4 of us in room) and in 2nd port bought a gallon from supermarket and used that to refill. We were on an 8 day cruise.

Didn't have issues bringing water from port but we cruised when policy was not in affect. (2 weeks before policy)

  7. Also want to add that there is a $4 pp Trolley that leaves from the cruise terminal that can catch and make your own call if you want to get off and walk on your own. I don't know if it is a hop on hop off but that is an option.

  8. Was in LaRomana 6/24/15 and we took the shuttle bus to Alto Chavon. Cost was $7 pp and no other costs. I was concerned that last time we went to Casa de Campo (place were Alto Chavon is located) there was a $25 fee to get on the property. The tour bus stopped at the security gate were the entrance fee is collected and the driver told security that they were from the cruise ship and they allowed us to pass through without the addtl charge.

Once you leave the ship you go up a small hill (walkway) and turn right out the exit and there is a small booth that has both the Alto Chavon tour and Trolley tour (which is $4 pp).

Did not take the trolley but Alto Chavon took us 30 min drive up, 1.5 hr to explore and 30 min back. You can probably do both tours on same visit.

  9. We were there 6/24/15 and there is nothing at the port. On our way back from Alto Chavon we had the bus driver drop us off at the Jumbo Supermarket (larger version of Wal Mart) in downtown 20-25 minutes walk back to the ship. It is in a busy part of town with not much to do.

  10. I rented a car from Avis from 1pm to 10 and here is what I learned.

    1. Avis only had cars for people who had reservations. Walk ups were sent to the Renaissance hotel down the block. I don't know exactly where it is located.

    2. Need to get off the ship early because you can take up to an hour to get the car. I was 2nd in line and we took 30min.

    3. Plan on taking longer to get where you are going as we had to back track a couple of times.

    4. We went to Jerimie beach and then to little knip which is on the west side of the island and took 45 min to get there. Both beaches were very nice.

    5. We wanted to leave the beach before dark so we left around 5:30. We ended up following a tour bus back to town, we figured he was going that way. He ended up making a turn off the hwy and we started to panic but we figured he was making a tourist stop and he did, he took us to a flamingo park which was a bonus.

    6. We arrived to the rental place around 6:30 and asked security if we can park and leave again and he said yes.

    7. We planned on eating dinner and then heading out again with the car but ran late and just walked to the platoon bridge.

    8. Avis said that they close at 5pm and to leave the keys in the glove box and lock the doors only problem was that our car had push start and the doors will not lock if key is in the car so we left the car open as well as another couple. We did take pictures that the car was there at night.

This is all I have. Good Luck.

  11. We all take a small carryon with electronics, laptop, chargers, medications, one day worth of clothes and drinks/wine. Basicaly enough to carry us over 24 hrs incase luggage issue. We have seen issues with lost luggage and that can ruin your trip for a couple of days.

We also cross pack meaning that we spread out everyones clothes in multiple bags.

  12. ... If a person wants to double on a hard 12 against a dealer 6, don't complain. The next card could be a 10 or it could be an 4 which would save the table if the dealer had the elusive "10 under there". Nothing is worse than playing at a table of experts who berate the other players directly or indirectly because they don't play according to their losing strategy card. Yeah it sucks when the noob take the dealer's bust card but despite what you all may believe, blackjack is not a team game and we all leave with the money in front of us, not some table pool.

Well said. Player beware. Find another table were you can play alone and complain at the dealer or sit in the last seat so you can not hit and put the cards back in the same order so the dealer can bust. This is the same thing if a player going before does not hit on 15 or 16 and the next card doesn't suite you.

  13. I was on the Getaway 4/26 first round and that Saturday we were in Oshennahans and they had a soccer game. We asked for the Heat Game and they said that they could not show due to restrictions. We complained but the management said sorry. We checked a couple of other areas and was not showing. I was able to catch some of the game on ESPN in the room. Later I found out through reading a review (same cruise) that the game was being shown in one of the outside bars.

They will show the game, the question is where and don't count on a crew member knowing where. You might have to ask someone from the entertainment staff before game time.
