They were not truthful with you. The people in that room caught Covid on the previous cruise and they allowed them to stay in that room for the entire week. They never left the room. That is fine except they should've told you the truth and you should be compensated for having a view that was partially blocked, because that is not what you reserved.

I thought the same thing Petey, I'd be pushing for a refund or some FCC.  You paid for something you'd didn't get, they should be compensating you.  I know I wouldn't have been as calm as you were during this whole snafu.

  2. I've been to some Connections parties where it was as described.  I felt like I was intruding on a group that didn't want to talk to anyone outside their core members.  On others I've had great conversations and met people I'd talked to on here.  We've had one where a gentleman who organized the roll call arrange a casino outing, another where members arranged excursions which were amazing and I've done a couple of excursion planning myself.

It can be hit and miss, at the least you've met some officers, had some great pastries and tea or coffee!

  3. This is a good comparison.  Eclipse is laid out like Equinox and Solstice.  She was the first S class ship we sailed on and loved her.  That was back in late 2014 but I'd enjoy sailing on her again.  I see the hull is painted blue so that indicates that the ship had been at least partly "revolutionized" like Equinox.  The hot glass show is one of my favorite things and now that you can participate it's even better.  I think if you chose to sail you enjoy yourself.

  4. When we changed to Elite mid cruise in February 2020 which was our last cruise too the benefits were immediate.  We were invited to the Elite cocktail get together, had the free bag of laundry and were invited to afternoon tea in Blu.  You should receive notices in your stateroom.

My US state borders, oh let me think, 4 others, so of course I know all the laws in each of those states, NOT, such a ridiculous comment.  WTH would anyone care

Did I say anything about other states?  No... If you don't care then ***** did you comment.  Who's ridiculous now?

What does "with AI I using booze on board"  mean?

I took it to mean Artificial Intelligence is using booze on board.  To address an earlier question, you'd think someone from a state next door to Canada might have a clue as to what the legal drinking age is in BC.  Microphone drop...

    Do y'all mean Silk Harvest?

Thank you, I was wondering what the heck was Silk Garden?  As for if Silk Harvest still exists on Solstice I can't say.  I know they replaced it on Equinox and we were very disappointed.  We had wonderful meals there in 2017-19.

Last year in February we found out it was replaced by LPC and didn't go as we thought the concept was gimmicky and didn't care for the menu. I've never done Tuscan or Murano as the price isn't cheap and I've heard many mixed reviews of the food.  Not fans of Sushi so we steer clear of Sushi on Five.  When it was Bistro on Five the crepes were amazing, it's a pity it's gone as well.  So it's either the MDR or OVC most of the time but that's not a problem as there's always great food there!

  8. In my opinion Café Al Bacio is probably intended for coffee and tea drinkers as there is a table service. If it is not possible to find a table, it is not possible to order. There is a walk up takeaway service, but not available for a pot of tea, or certain of the coffee options. If everyone was just socialising, what would the wait staff do?

Thank you, you read my mind. There have been times when I wanted to sit and enjoy a pot of tea and a piece of cake at the cafe. However there were no available seats due to people socializing or playing cards long after they'd finished their drinks. Tea in a take out cup just isn't the same. Have some consideration for other passengers if it's busy.

  9. I agree with Natalie 100%. In no way was this my TA's fault. Princess admitted it was their error and I'll never know what was the exact cause. Like huskerdan25 I've worked with computers for years and unfortunately software errors do occur. I didn't push for more OBC as they just gave me $200 a few days ago for possibly not getting the Ocean Medallion on our cruise. I too will be keeping an eye on my booking and will try to get over what's happened. I'm going to need this cruise in just over a month!

  10. I called this afternoon and after explaining why I was calling I was put through to a very nice customer service representative by the name of Kelly. She looked over my account and could see the history of what happened. My booking too was the victim of computer error which she admitted. My airfare should have been charged but when it hadn't by the final due date of yesterday the system cancelled the booking.

We were offered a dinner at the Crown Grill as an apology which I accepted. We're looking forward to having dinner there twice during the week. Do keep an eye on your bookings folks!

  11. Me thinks Princess has a problem.

I was SUPER ticked when they told me I hadn’t paid for any of my pre-booked items. Seriously? THEY sent ME the receipt...how could they not know I paid????

It’s all resolved now but the $50 OBC needs to be adjusted. That’s just insulting. And thank GOD for my amazing TA!!! She worked her buns off yesterday.

If Princess had initially admitted their mistake, taken responsibility and apologized it would have diffused the situation. They chose not to do that. Instead, my TA and I ran around in circles yesterday for HOURS trying to get this resolved. It all just leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. And trust me...Princess hasn’t heard the last from me!!!

So glad your situation worked out. Enjoy your cruise!

Thank you, I'm glad you've been able to straighten out your cruise but the $50 is truly a slap in the face for their screwup and wasting your day. They haven't heard the last from me either, it has left a sour taste in my and my DW mouth.

  12. This morning I went to my cruise personalizer (as I do every morning) to look at my next cruise scheduled for February 2nd on the Star to Hawaii.

Imagine my shock when my cruise wasn't listed. I then when to the personalizer log-in where you put your booking number. When I did this I received an error message that the reservation was CANCELLED! I originally booked this sailing in September of 2016.

I immediately called Princess who told me that the reservation was indeed "CANCELLED" and that I'd need to speak with my travel agent. BTW...I paid the cruise in FULL on November 6th....

My travel agent spent over an hour on the phone with Princess trying to get the booking back (cabin, airfare, ALL OF IT WAS GONE). When she finally called me to tell me it was fixed she was absolutely flabbergasted. In her almost 30 years of working she said she'd never seen anything like this. And worst of all, Princess tried to blame it on HER.

I called Princess back myself and was told to write a letter (shocking, I get to spend more time on this). The rep I spoke with told me it was a "Cruise Line System Error." When I asked what that meant, she couldn't tell me. She said she had NO IDEA.

Well Natalie, You're not the only one they've done this to today. I logged into the Personalizer bright and early this morning to find that there is no booking associated with my account. Uh what the heck? I called Princess as they're open before my TA and after checking my account I was told there was a problem and that my TA needed to call them. I did call them not too long after and they look and yes we've been cancelled. They called me back and after talking they found out that since we did EZ-Air a couple of days after booking this January Regal cruise they never charged my credit card for the airfare. I'd done purchases for on board which went through fine but since no one completed the billing for the flights they cancelled the cruise. Now this was a booking in late October as we switched from a 14 day Carribean Princess cruise but I paid in full immediately so wth?

Fortunately our online TA has great staff and they were able to restore everything as long as I paid the airfare today which I did. The purchases had to be redone as they'd been credited back when the cancellation was processed... Grr At no time in the past month and a half was I contacted and both of them have my credit card on file. I do want an explanation as to what happened and I'd like some kind of an apology as who knows what would have happened if I hadn't logged in until January to print my luggage tags.

  13. I believe so, when I've been by the pool the staff in the area always have pitchers of lemonade and iced tea. The International Cafe has delicious speciality iced teas available also.

  14. Great deal. In the same range for our end of October one. Bet the huge bad weather coverage the last 2 weeks for the Caribbean had put a damper on last minute cruisers. With less rooms being sold, NCL is happy to get something extra for rooms that might go empty. Enjoy your cruise.

Thanks, we're very happy with what we bid and received. I think you're right, the weather may be making people cancel or decide to wait until next year to sail. Glad to hear that you too received a good offer, do enjoy your cruise. I'll post up what we thought of the Escape and the western itinerary.

  15. This is our first NCL cruise and we booked an inside guarantee on the Escape sailing October 14. We were offered to bid on an Oceanview and Balcony cabin. We booked 39 days out and today at 4:30 PM, 22 days out I received an email from NCL saying we won on our bid for the balcony. I had bid $75pp for the oceanview and $130pp for the balcony. We're assigned a family balcony port side mid ship. We're very pleased, both bids were on the poor/fair border.

  16. I guess everyone posting is a coffee drinker. I buy the coffee card for hot and iced tea. They have some great varieties and they're delicious. The Royal tea is held at least once and it's worth the $10. Delicious sandwiches, pastries and you try three types of tea.

My favourite was the Princess blend, it's a black tea that has a great aroma and tastes even better. It's available in a tin to take home too. If you're interested in attending stop by the Vines wine bar to reserve your spot early in the cruise. Oh, there's also a milk and cookies man that has a cart in the Piazza in the afternoon, a very nice treat.

As for all the other tips and recommendations I agree with them, the buffet is really the best at sea. I enjoyed the pizza from both locations, the grill also has great sausage in addition to the hamburgers and hot dogs. In the evening they cook ribs and wings. I really miss the Regal, I'm excited to be sailing on the Royal soon.

  17. Since the inception of the coffee card we have never had a punch taken for the tea. I have volunteered and still get "it is not necessary.":) Great customer service!

That was my experience too! I would ask for a pot of Earl Grey and they didn't punch the card. When I said" Aren't you supposed to punch my card for that?" I was told "Don't worry about it or It's fine, next time". Really great staff and the tea was excellent. :)

  18. Ditto on the Horizon Court Buffet. It was the best we've ever had at sea and except for one dinner in the MDR (it was ok) and one night at the Crown Grill which was fantastic we ate at the HC in the evening. The variety is just wonderful and the quality is top notch.

Be sure to try Alfredo's, lunch was delicious and a great alternative on embarkation day. We didn't try Sabatini's but heard it's excellent. As I mentioned the Crown Grill was a great restaurant for steak and make sure to do the pub lunch there as the fish and chips were cooked just right. Oh do try the Royal Tea that's offered, it was a lot of fun to attend.

  19. That's very nice of you Tracie, it's great to see that you're helping new cruisers enjoy and learn. I bought the coffee card on our Regal cruise this past November and my wife and I both used up the punches for iced and hot tea which we loved.

The International Cafe staff was always wonderful to interact with and the coffee even looked amazing to someone like me who doesn't drink it. Plus the great sandwiches, salads and desserts make it one of our favourite spots. I'll be buying the card again for our upcoming Royal cruise.
