  1. Does anyone have a email address where to send copies of military ID for the discount?

Also, I rebooked my cruise on MSC and I have to say not impressed with the booking agents. I asked about the loyalty match and they said they never got it, so sent it again 3rd time. Got the message that it was sent. Will check again this afternoon and see if they have it.

I hope the ship is run better that the customer service!!!

    Thanks

    Ed

The agent we spoke to automatically gave us the discount. I had to send an attached proof to a direct email to that person after the call or it would be revoked. I would call back and see if you can get a more cooperative agent.

  2. Rosethorn40's caution should be taken seriously.....I was in St. Petersburg last year at the Peterhof gardens and an attempt was made to pickpocket me. I was wearing a crossbody anti=theft bag with the locking mechanisms in place. (This bag also has a cable running through the strap, and a mesh anti-slash lining) It was a woman in her 40's well-dressed walking arm in arm with another woman. She slipped her arm between myself and the backside zippered pocket. I felt the arm briefly and heard the zipper. This happened with unbelievable lightning speed and there was no way anyone could react fast enough. I never keep anything in that pocket, but a foldable rainhat. So she was not successful. I quickly warned the others we were with as she easily disappeared into the large crowds.

Like Rosethorn40, I am not trying to scare anyone, but I often cringe when I hear others say they are safe from pickpockets by keeping something in a pocket on their handbag close to their person. Gentlemen if you are thinking about those cargo pockets on pants....don't do it. I lived in London a number of years and the artful dodger is alive and well with cousins all over the world.

As I stated previously, I am not trying to scare anyone or detract from anyone's good time.....just another voice with a word of caution....so you can enjoy your time while you keep your documents and money with no worries.

  3. We did this trip as part of a Princess excursion....we are both seniors in good health.....it was one of the worst decisions we made.....the trip was rushed, travel times were greatly beyond what was in their printed itinerary and our time at MP was only 2 hours (not the 3 as stated in the brochure with additional free time) we had no free time....we actually spent more time in a buffet restaurant prior to doing the MP....many people got sick....the altitude because of the strenuous schedule and the amount of time spent in Cusco contributed significantly to the many passenger complaints back to the Golden Princess....my advice, is see MP, stay at the Marriott in Cusco....just don't do an excursion with Princess! We wished we had followed the advice of using an independent company pre-cruise....you will enjoy your time at this great site so much more.

  4. We took the la to rio in 2013. We loved it. We took the princess Machu Picchu tour. It did cost more but I can can tell you it was 5 star all the way. The Tambo del Inca is one of the nicest Hotels I have ever been in. The whole tour was a delight. We never take Princess tours because you can do it independently so much cheaper but have no regrets. It has a limit of 65 people and there are 4 buses and 4 tour guides and 2 coordinators with you at all times. The food was great and different every night. it is a very tiring tour filled with so much. At one point I skipped the afternoon of looking at the ruins (not MP) and they got me a cab and I spent the afternoon at the Tambo Del Inca in the 3td floor indoor -outdoor infinity pool. Best money you will ever spend.

We did the cruise a little differently. We sailed from La to Lima. We left the ship in Lima and the tour coordinator came to the port and drove us to the city. We met up with the others who flew from all over to take the tour. after the Macho Picchu tour ended, we reboarded the ship with the others and finished the cruise in Rio. It was cheaper to have a ocean view cabin to lima than to fly. We moved to a balcony for the second half of Santiago to Rio leg.

Going around the horn is really interesting crossing the equator is fun.

They say it can be rough but our cruise was smooth as glass. There is nothing as fun as being out on the promenade deck in your formal wear with a glacier behind you and snow gently falling.

    Hope this helps

We also had the wonderful experience of sailing out of Buenos Aries on our balcony drinking champagne as our neighbors played "Don't cry for me Argentina"

I just got off the Golden and did the MP tour with Princess....my advice is go to MP, stay at the Marriott if you are in Cusco, but do not do this tour with Princess, especially in the middle of the voyage.....they did not keep to the posted on line schedule which would have been so much more relaxing.....they also did not keep this tour to the 65 person minimum....we had over 150 passengers participating....they sent one representative....the last time we saw him was when we left the ship for MP when we picked up our passports....never saw him again...the Sanctuary Buffet is NOT THE Sanctuary ...it is a cheaper restaurant with mediocre food....we spent 1-1/2 hours at this restaurant almost as much as the 2 hours at MP....the online site said 3 hours and 120 min. of free time.....there was no free time at all....the third day was a travel day back to Lima.....some passengers were very sick and I had sprained my leg and wanted to get back to my cabin to put ice on it.....when we arrived back in Lima and wanted to return to the ship....we were not allowed to do so....at the airport we were in close proximity of the port, but were taken by large buses to a restaurant 45 minutes across town that was not air-conditioned(this stop never appeared on any itinerary and we were only told of a lunch stop before we boarded the plane in Cusco)....the sick passengers were told they would have a long wait, while others ate they sat next to the bathroom.....again, I would tell you MP is amazing, but do this on your own, or with a small group tour at another time.....this was an expense excursion and definitely did not have the value or was what we had expected from Princess....yes, we did complain along with many of the other passenger to the Shorex Dept....we all received a very condescending, arrogant form letter.....this weekend we will be writing Corp. but don't expect that we will get anywhere.....after all they sell the excursion out every trip.

  5. We were also on the Amsterdam for the Seattle to Shanghai segment of this tour and can confirm what the others have said with regard to the behavior of the owner.....this is no way a service dog under any guideline.....we were also very shocked to see this " service " dog at the Lido in the owners lap and eating at the table. We live in a community that has many service and therapy dogs and the dogs and their owners here behave much differently. The owner is responsible here and the ship has an obligation to its other passengers to enforce proper etiquette. The woman IMHO is taking advantage of ambiguous rules to bring her pet on board.

  6. Okay....I have tried to find a recent post somewhere on this subject and I have called Princess 5 times. No one there (may be I am just getting the wrong person each time) in Customer Service and their Corp. Casino # (just goes to voice mail) has been able to give me a definitive answer. I am thinking about buying some casino vouchers. How do they work? Can I just turn them in for cash at the casino? I am travelling to South America and almost every private tour operator wants to be paid in cash USD. I would really like to avoid travelling with a lot $. Much appreciated.

  7. Let's make sure we are talking about the same subject.

Princess offers pre-cruise and post-cruise excursions to Machu Picchu. These must be paid in full in advance of the cruise.

Princess also offers an excursion to MP in the middle of a cruise. This is treated as a normal ship's excursion and is put on the onboard account near the start of the cruise and is sent to the credit card at the end of the cruise which will be after the excursion is taken.

I should have probably mentioned that this will be an excursion in the middle of the cruise.

  8. sorry if this is a common ?, but I tried looking everywhere for the answer (called Princess and got 3 different answers) and now I need help from knowledgeable Princess cruisers. We have just cleared a waitlist for an overland Macchu Picchu excursion.....so when do we pay for this? I have so far been told (by Princess) it will be billed on the day of embarkation; (2) If I have a cc on file it will be billed automatically a week before the event; (3) I cannot prepay it, but will be billed automatically 30 days out. I don't really care when they bill. I just want to make sure I don't miss doing something and lose my spot!

  9. Does anyone know of of a van or car service in Sete that will provide transportation to Carcassonne? I have googled and googled and came up with nothing.....anyone with experience out there? We are also looking at car rental and train travel, but would prefer to go with a van and maybe organize a group transport from our ship.

  10. We are disembarking off an RCL cruise a day early.....we just contacted Guest Services and we then received an email with the info required to be emailed back to request early disembarkation.......ship, cabin number , booking number and date requested to disembark.....it took less than a day to receive a reply via email confirming acknowledgement and approval for early disembarkation which I have copied and plan to keep with me. It was very simple.
