  1. OH FOR PETE'S SAKE

As an educator, I know that exposure and experiences are VITAL to student learning. I could talk and talk about whatever I want to my 1st graders, but seeing it happening in real life will always be more meaningful.

Christmas Trees and Jingle Bells are NOT religious. The person who posted above me said it best, the Christmas that the ship celebrates is mass market media, NOT the Christian holiday. YOU are actually getting a more religious experience than is afforded to Christians (and I'm not complaining about it!) Until they have a nativity scene and you have to watch the reenactment of the nativity, you can stop complaining.

Santa and Christmas Trees are not religious. Some agnostics and atheists will choose to "do" Santa and Christmas trees and they are NOT Christian.

    Your Menorah IS religious.

You are being ignorant. I certainly hope you do not approach your everyday life with the same "me vs. them" attitude you have going on right now.

A Christmas Tree is not a religious symbol. I take offense to your sense of entitlement. Why is your religion any different then mine? I however, did not start this thread to debate religion. I was looking to see what my family might encounter on our upcoming cruise. If you want to debate religion please take it elsewhere. There is no need for it here.

Amen, amen and amen! Gosh, I hope my repeated use of the word "Amen" does not offend anyone...since it's religious and all.

  2. The rate you booked has nothing to do with your final payment due date. You need to call your TA and ask what rate you are booked under. If it is early saver and your final payment date hasn't arrived yet, you can match to the guarantee rate.

Yeah, it kind of does. If the OP's total amount was due at the time of booking, that means she did not book Early Saver because it would be too close to the sailing date.

  3. I would love to take advantage of this sale, but we have a 3 year old and would need a room where the 3rd bed is a sofa bed, not an upper. I guess a GTY room just isn't for us.

Maybe the room steward would bring a trundle in for you...?

  4. We had a similar situation last year on the Elation and it was not a problem at all.

Initially, there were 2 families of 4 going on the cruise. The other set of parents and I decided to get a 3rd cabin to put our 4 daughters in and each set of parents had their own cabin. A little later, another family decided to go on the cruise with us. They had one daughter who is good friends with our daughters and she wanted to hang out in our girls' cabin for sleepovers. So, she did pretty much every night. Our steward even brought a trundle in for the 5th person in a 4 person room. We had the same steward for all 4 cabins, so that probably helped, too.

  5. find it sad that the Chanukiah has to be hidden off to the side and is treated like a circus by non-Jews. Look kids, lets watch those people celebrate their holiday surrounded by all the Christmas decorations while having to listen to constant Christmas music.

And you know it's like this on the ship how?

I take offense because they probably don't know what Hanukkah even means!

I am intolerant of the in your face publicness if all things Christian especially the holidays that pervade even my kids pubic schools.

This sense of Christian entitlement is very offensive to me.

It sounds to me like you somewhat enjoy being offended and look for reasons to be so. Good luck with that.

  6. I booked under the 36-hour Halloween sale. I got my cabin assignment today and am perfectly fine with it (Inside, midship, Upper Deck). However, I have a little extra money now that I did not have when I booked the trip. At the time of booking, I could have upgraded from an Inside to an Oceanview for $80. Would I still be able to do that now (for $80) since the sale is over and the cabin and has assigned?

  7. We used a dry erase board one time. We came back to the room and saw that someone had used our marker to draw a GIANT penis on our cabin door...not on the board...on the actual door! I took it down after that. Jerks.

Now, we use post-its and just hope no one takes them down.

  8. A marriage license is not listed on Carnival's site or the Homeland Security's site about proper documentation. If the ML is needed, it would be listed.

10 cruises so far and I've never been asked for a ML.

Yes, a majority of women will have a different last name on their BC and their DL. But, a Marriage License is needed to get the new name on the DL. The cruise agents and other powers that be know that you don't just go into the DMV and ask for a new last name for the heck of it. They know that proper documentation was shown to get the new DL, therefore, that cancels out the need for them to see the ML when boarding a cruise ship.

  9. The promotion started on the 4th I believe. Not sure why some wait until the last second to take advantage of promotions. You snooze you loose.

It's not always so black and white. Many people (myself included) get paid every other week on Fridays. Put the money in the bank on Saturday, but it's not available to be spent until the bank opens back up on Monday. So, to pretend like you know everyone's situation and to make judgments based on that is pretty arrogant.
