  1. We drive to Bayonne as well. But even when we fly I just use zip-ties. If we fly I put extra, different colored, ones inside for TSA to use. I do this so the zippers won't open accidently.

Locks are for honest folks. Zippered cases can be accessed with a ballpoint pen, if you know how.

  2. Good thought. I think I'll be ok pushing his wheelchair. Thanks for the suggestion of the disabled board. I see it now. :)
Please excuse the interjection but I have a question. Is your Dad's wheelchair a wheelchair or a Transport Chair? My reason for asking is' date=' a transport chair can be difficult to push on carpet, very uncomfortable for the rider on uneven surfaces and quite difficult to get over small obstacles like door thresholds.

I had the honor, and it was an honor, to meet 138east's mother. She was an absolute joy in a small package. Knowing this I don't think there was much of an issue getting her from point A to B but if Dad is a normal to larger guy it may be. My DW (aka The Boss) uses a mobility scooter and we have VERY few issues. But if she were a wheelchair issue I would definitely not use as transport chair.

Happy cruising and don't be afraid to ask, anything.[/font']

  3. we have used Budget several times at Port Canaveral and have always been satisfied. Free shuttles to and from the port. Did you know that they have one-way rentals from Orlando airport? Hope this helps. Enjoy your cruise.

Same with us. Budget was very easy to deal with and the shuttle delivered us to, and from, the cruise port with no issue.

  4. I am sorry to say you do not advance until you have finished the cruise that gives you the points for the next teir. You may have luck asking the Loyalty Ambassador to upgrade you. Emphasis is on luck. There really aren't too benefits to Platinum once you are on board, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

  5. Great info!

We are leaving tomorrow and had no idea you could drop your luggage off before you parked. thanks!

The paperwork says you can board between 11am and 2:30pm.

We live an hour or so away, in good conditions. It is snowing again and will likely take a bit longer tomorrow morning.

What time do you think we should arrive at the terminal?

We'd like to get this vacation started...quickly!!!!:D

We've sailed from Cape Liberty on 5 occasions. We have arrived around 10 - 10:30 and went right onto the ship. Remember, the cabins will not be available until 1 - 1:30 so be prepared to schlep your carry-on bags with you to the Windjammer (buffet) or any of the public areas of the beautiful ship.

Enjoy your cruise and Cape Liberty.

  6. Magnetic clips work great on the stateroom walls for holding your key cards so you do not misplace them. Cloth hanging shoe holder works great for keeping your stateroom organized. You can buy them for $5 to $10 and they fold up small for traveling!

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

I would re-think the magnetic clip to hold your key-card as they are magnetized devices that "wipe-clean" in the proximity of other magnets.

  7. I found my post from 4 years ago and the only thing I would change is that, instead of my DVD player, I now just use my iPod.

Someone made the comment that I must have a suite if I didn't need an over the door shoe holder :p No, just a regular balcony most cruises. I still feel there is plenty of space for toiletries…just don't pack so darn much. I pack a small hanging toiletry kit for the bathroom, my travel makeup bag and hair product bag (both left at the desk, not used in the bathroom at all).

I have come to the conclusion that what to pack is such a personal choice. A travel blow dryer is a must for me, wasted space for the next person. I still don't add extras like duct tape, cups, highlighter pens, etc… but the person next door might really miss those items.

Just be careful and consider what you are packing or purchasing for your cruise. You can waste a lot of cash, not to mention the time and hassle to find the stuff, only to find it useless on your trip. The good part for us has been all the cruises we took to discover just what worked best for us :)

Very nicely put. I do agree with your interpretation.

We do not use the over-the-door thingy but I won't leave home without duct tape (and I have had to use it too).

SO, take the ideas put forth and make the choice your own.

    Enjoy your cruise.
