  1. I see that we can not PM each other anymore. Hummmm. Well, in the mean time I found this excursion in Falmouth. I THINK it is the same one offered by Royal Caribbean called Rio's Kayak Adventure. My father and I are thinking of taking it and I did a little research and believe that is the same one as this. Read the description and notice the part about the Pirate Treasure. I would ask someone at the shore excursion desk if it is the same one that RCI offers and if in fact they do the pirate treasure thing on the tour.http://www.viator.com/tours/Falmouth/Rois-Lagoon-Kayak-Tour-in-Falmouth/d4154-9228P1?SSAID=910649&aid=574871140

  2. I am on your cruise! If the staff cant help let me know and we will figure it out. We have an over the water cabana reserved on Nellies Beach (Labadee) and if you gave us something to hide in or near the cabana we would be happy to. However, the cabanas are not assigned until we get to them, and there are a few on both sides of the beach, so knowing where to put the X could be tricky. But, maybe we could decide on a place around the cabanas and I could bury it. I plan to get to the cabana early so could do this before you and your group get there. My daughter is autistic and LOVES pirate things (Jake and the Neverland Pirates) so I would have to hide anything you give me from her or she would claim it as her own ;) But there are five of us in our party and we could make it work.

Having said all that - definitely check with the staff first, because I have a feeling they will have a fantastic ideas for you. But if not, contact me! I will PM you my cabin number. Also, we are all going to be wearing gray tee shirts with a red/blue/yellow "Autism on the Seas" logo when we board - so if you see us, stop us and introduce yourself! We have priority boarding because my daughter will be using her wheelchair and my parents might need assistance. I assume you have priority boarding as well? So maybe you will see us there.

  3. Hi,

My parents and I will be boarding a closed loop US cruise (Port Canav).

My parents have Passport Cards and a Driver's License.

Do they need to bring their (very old and delicate) birth certificates? They used the birth certificates to get the Passport Cards, so I'm guessing that means that the Card is enough.

However, the Royal Caribbean site says nothing about cards:

United States citizens on cruises that begin and end at the same port in the United States can use a original government-issued picture ID (i.e. driver's license) AND an original government-issued birth certificate or original Naturalization Certificate.

Minors under the age of 16 will be able to present either an original government-issued, original or certified copy of his or her birth certificate; a Consular Report of Birth Abroad Issued by DOA; or Certificate of Naturalization issued by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.

AND we know the risks involved with not having a Passport Book - so no need to get into that here...just curious if we should bring birth certificates as well or if any of you out there can confirm that they got on and off with a DL and Passport Card alone.

  4. Incorrect.....OP, look at your SetSail passes. At the top, in the box, it will show the primary pass holder's name then below that should be some smaller boxes with those names linked to the primary and the primary listed. Example, mine for next week has my name listed then below there are 4 boxes which list me, hubby, and both grandsons. I only have to bring 1 SetSail Pass to get all 4 of us checked in.

Now if you used just your credit card for onboard acct, then I believe it would be 1 SetSail pass listing you as primary and showing all 5 of you below the top information box.

What is really interesting is that I went to print the Set Sail passes immediately after filling out all the documents. The printouts did not have much information at all on them (including the names of my father and husband). About a half hour later I looked at them again and those little boxes were all listed. SO I had to print our everything again.

Royal Caribbean's computer system is driving me nuts today !

    Thank you for your help!

  5. We have one cabin with 5 people. 1 of these 5 (me) is using my credit card for three of the guests on board expenses. 1 of these 5 (my mother) is using her credit card for two of the guests' on board expenses.

When I go to print our Set Sail Passes it only gives us 1 for me and 1 for my mom. The other three do not have Set Sail Passes in their name.

Correct? The reason she and I each have one is because my mom is using her credit card to pay for additional expenses for herself and dad. If she were not doing this (let's say I was using my card for all 5) we would only have ONE Set Sail Pass under my name.....correct?

  6. I am traveling with a 15 year old daughter who has autism. I chose RCI because I had read that they allow kids with autism to adjust their Ocean Adventure group depending on their needs. This is huge for us. I have spoken with RCI special needs representative who reiterated that she will be able to "age down". However, I just came across something on the RCI website for autism that has me worried they will not do this for a15 year-old. This is not what i have heard or was verbally told; but the person i spoke with that told me she would be fully taken care of never asked her age and might have assumed she was a child and not a teen. Now im a little worried. (Not that we plan on putting her in AO very often, but my husband and I have a few avtivities planned on our sea days that we can not do together unless she is supervised.) Our daughter would likely be happiest where a 8-10 year old would be. She loves to play on computers/wii, color and play with figurines (If they still have Little People toy she would be thrilled.) She is extremely easy to manage and prefers to be by herself playing quietly. There is no way she would enjoy or be safe in the minimally-supervised teen areas.

Can anyone tell me if there is going to be a problem aging her down when we get there? I'm afraid to call and confirm and get the answer that they only do this under age 11. We will adjust accordingly, of course, but I would love to know of any experiences out there.

  8. Our family enjoys "cocktail hour" around 5:30 with a glass of wine and cheese/crackers/nuts etc. Nothing extravagant.

Will there be a lounge open with hors d'ouevres available (more than snack mix) on the first evening before dinner? Is room service available the first evening (we could order a cheese plate or two and have the wine we bring on board).

    Thanks

  9. So enjoying your posts! And thank you for the info on the wheelchairs on Labadee...I was able to research a little more and this could be a big help. Our daughter can walk, but we use a wheelchair for her for safety and comfort reasons as it gives her a space to call her own which is comforting while in crowds. This could be a great way to get her from the dock to the cabana without too much anxiety. (I plan on keeping the cabana after seeing your photo!)

  10. If you recall..can you tell us if the Nellie's over the water cabanas looked fully booked? I have purchased one at the very high recently increased price in January as our party of 5 consists of 3 people with varying special needs and I was thinking that the shade, fan and place to call home would be very beneficial. (We aren't doing many other excursions, so felt that the price was fine for us - although I know it is controversial). In any case, I'm thinking that we might be better off just getting two clam shells on Nellies or Columbus, but I'm afraid of cancelling the cabana at this point until I can figure out what is best for our group. I think my main worry is that chairs will all be grabbed very quickly on these two beaches and we will be left with something in the sun or too far away from the water for us to enjoy for the day. Is this a valid concern? Since you are on the same ship (same amount of people) can you give us an idea as to how busy these two beaches become and how quickly? If you happened to notice through your Labadoozie goggles ;)

  11. Has anyone been to Labadee with an Oasis class ship and also with a Freedom class ship? Is there a big difference in the feeling of crowds, beach chair access, lines at buffets, etc. due to the additional 1,700+ ppl potentially on the island? Of course, this is assuming that only one ship is in port that particular day (do they ever put another ship with an Oasis or Freedom class ship)?

No real implications here, I'm just curious if Labadee will seem much less crowded when I'm there on the Freedom vs. on the Oasis.

    Thanks
