I have an Alaskan cruise in May and haven't cancelled it yet.  I'm taking a wait and see approach.  My big question is what are the cruise lines doing to ensure that as new crew members join the ship that they haven't been exposed to the Coronavirus.

    That is hysterical!

I am also from NY, how did you purchase CFAR? I was told by insurance companies NY doesn't allow, and also found this...

"Additionally, there’s bad news for residents of New York: You can’t buy CFAR travel insurance. The New York State Department of Financial Services, which regulates the insurance industry, does not deem CFAR to be actual insurance because it “allows the purchaser to control the event that would lead to payment.” Thus, the state does not permit the sale of that benefit. "

I saw that, however (don’t know if I can name the company on the boards) a company that starts with a “T” and ends with an “x” assured me that they would cover me, even from New York for cfar. There was no problem entering my home state info, which was declined on all the other insurance sites. I also followed up with a phone call.

I doubt anyone will be quarantined on board a ship anymore. That was a disaster that just increased everyone's chance of getting infected.  It had the opposite of its intended effect.  I think in the future ships will just be refused docking.

Being quarantined was my biggest concern. But the chance of being turned away from my only port of choice (Bermuda 3 days) is also enough for me to rethink sinking however many $K's into a trip. To be turned away and have a 7 day cruise to nowhere, well, that's not for me either. Unless this thing is red bagged in the next 2 months, I'll be exercising my CFAR. To each his own. My loss is the consumers gain.

No problem. I’m going to wait as long as possible, especially with everything going on with Covid-19.... probably see some significant drops. The flip side of that, if it breaks out, I myself may exercise my CFAR policy.

vaccinations are not even 70% effective.

Still worth it IMO. All my life I got the flu almost every year. For the last 8 years I have gotten a shot, and have not had the flu (however on two occasions I did have a reaction to the shot where I felt crummy for about 8 hours, but still not all-out flu crummy). Probably boils down to a lot of factors..... hygiene, immune system, etc...

  6. Hi,

My past cruises have either been done through a TA or online TA, this is my first time going direct with NCL's website...On my eDocs, it states "your selected time is 12:30". I didn't select a time, it generated the time automatically (perhaps when I selected Priority Access?). If I arrived earlier than 12:30 (for a 4pm sailing) would it be an issue or should I call NCL to request an earlier board (want a shot a Vibe).

    Thanks!

I am going from NY to Bermuda on the encore on the 5/17 sailing. Final payment was made. This is my first time cruising. Are you all pricing them out on NCL's site? Right now everything looks pretty much the same price wise at least for a mid ship mini suite. Im going to keep checking I guess. But where is everyone seeing these price changes? Also does it matter if you booked through a travel agent? Are you still able to try to get a price adjustment? Would i contact the agent or NCL direct? I would have been interested in the obc more than anything. Sorry for all the questions. I have been reading on here for a few months but havent seen an answer on this yet.

Im in the same boat (literally 😎) except FTC or utilizing a travel agent.....Im mid ship mini suite and am going to start checking the site...I'll let you know if I see a change. I'm only going to check once a week, let me know if you find a discount in the mean time. Thanks.

I want to go on the Alaska cruise. My DW is anxious. She is concerned about being confined to a ship. She has claustrophobia. She is concerned about over crowded places. We love hiking and exploring new places. Had a great vacation in the Tetons & Yellowstone. Alaska is my next bucket list. I want to go on RC Radiance or Serenade of the Seas.

We have 23 yo triplets with disabilities and both of us are always on pins and needles how they will handle a new adventure. I think they will be fine. May need assistance with embarking & disembarking.

It could go either way. My wife has had some anxiety issues 20 years ago, was uncomfortable with crowds, water, basically everything to do with a ship. She broke down and surprised me with tickets to a cruise for a birthday many years ago because she knows I love the sea. She was uncomfortable at first, but now we are both lovers of the cruising experience. Looking back, she said it was a bad idea to hop aboard an 11 day cruise for a first time, not knowing the outcome. I would have the wife try a short cruise (if available in your region) to see if it would be something she can tolerate (I'm not sure how many sea days are in the typical Alaska itinerary's).

    Baby steps.

    Good luck!

What was the average wait time asked?

    - Boarding? Makes a huge difference if you get there at 9am and boarding begins at 1130am

    - Ship? Makes a difference if it's the Breakaway or Dawn

We need to know the complete question you polled and the complete answers provided in order to have any of your info be useful.

It was generic average wait time for ncl nyc for non priority non handicapped non latitude pax.

It was not a scientific poll, didn’t include time of year, how many ships in port, size of the ship or if there was a full moon. Was asking the same question as op basically, except with her good experience previously in nyc mine was unpleasant. I understand there are many many different scenarios plugged into the poll, and as I write this I now see how meaningless it was.

We did the first two weeks on the Encore and our cabin was on deck ten. I don't remember any motion at all. Maybe I am not sensitive to motion. I really enjoyed the Encore especially the entertainment. I am not a person that wants to sit out in the sun by the pool so maybe that is why the lack of deck space is no big deal to me. People cruise for different reasons so some will like this ship and others don't. Just my thoughts.

    Thank you!

    One thing

we did not like and is no easy fix is that the ship really rocks. More so than other ships

we have been on. There was also this weird side by side shaking in our cabin which caused

    us to sleep poorly.

This is a new concern of mine (in addition to the deck space) for my upcoming. Have heard multiple reports of the motion, which DW is not particularly fond of (cruises for my benefit 🧡). We have a deck 10 cabin and 3 nights in Bermuda, so hopefully its manageable.

  14.    Making inquiry as have had bad past experience personally boarding with Carnival out of NYC. I purchased Priority Access as a backup for an upcoming in May, but seeing mixed reviews on it and am considering pulling it before final payment. I am aware that P/A is lackluster in many ways and I am only interested in if for embarking. I know it's a steep price to pay for utilizing it for this reason, however my one other cruise out of NYC was a 2.5 hour wait to board.

The poll is for non-handicapped/non-priority/non-Rewards passengers with NCL.

I understand P/A has struck a nerve with those who have Latitudes Rewards and those who are feeling nickel and dimed and hope the thread doesn't go down a rabbit hole for bashing NCL and the new program, or those interested in it. Please just stick to your average wait times. Just trying to make an educated decision.

Thank you in advance, happy cruising.
