Glory in October...can't wait!!! 😋
-
I have a walking food tour from 11-2 (starts and ends at El Siboney 900 Catherine St). Ship is in port from 8-4. Any ideas what I can do with my "extra time". Going in October with my husband. Both of us about 50 yrs old but would be up to almost anything. Thanks

Thank you

Does anyone if you are allowed to bring on CBD oil/tincture on the ship. It is a 1oz. bottle and contains less than 0.3% THC in it and you DO NOT smoke it you put it under your tongue. Just didn't want to "sniffed" by the dogs!!!
Thanks

Does anyone know how much airlines tax on drinks in flight. I'm flying southwest from Philly to nola.
Thanks.

I'm also wondering where the best place to sit is. We are the first of 4 ships to arrive. Will this make the beach extremely crowded? I don't mind paying a little extra to rent chairs and what not and I always assumed this beach would be crowded. Just weighing my options. Goi g on the Glory in October.

We only carry on medications, documents, cash and electronics. Everything else can go to the room.

On the horizon we made use of the free bag of laundry.
We stuffed it to bursting.
We got 3 bags back the next day (we didn't send it out until late afternoon). Very nicely folded and smelled freshly cleaned. No issues.
When during the cruise do they offer a free bag? Is it a diamond/platinum offer? Asking for a 7 day cruise (Glory).
Thanks

You might want to ask on the ports of call boards for your ports.
Thank you I will try that.

I am sailing to Key West, Freeport and Nassau (I will also be in New Orleans pre cruise). I have 2 coworkers, 1 is diabetic. Looking for ideas on what to bring back home. I know I could just do something non food related, but I thought it would be cool to bring some type of snack or something.
Thanks!

@sydney dog Will you please share the name of the corn soup/marg place? Walkable from port?
It's called La Choza. I just looked it up its about a 10 minute drive/1 hour walk from the cruise port. It was very hard to find, no real sign but on a small street and a safe area. We must have passed it at least 3-4 times and we stayed only 1 block away from it.

Ok so they received my passport on April 20th. They contacted me on July 23 that I needed to send them a new picture (my fault I did it at home, now I know better). I sent it out July 24th. Anybody had this issue. Anyone have any idea how much time this will add to my "processing time". Any info would be appreciated. Not cruising until October but you know...it is the government.
Thanks!!

I research like crazy. I thing the best part of cruising is getting off and trying the local food and any local beer to. This is probably one of favorite parts of cruising. For instance we had such a great time and experience with food and drink in Cozumel we eventually took a land trip there. We ate at a lot of local places including one where is a known hangout for local taxi drivers. Got a bowl of corn soup for under $1.00 and huge margaritas for about $1.00 and they were off the charts.

I am going on 3 tours in New Orleans and 1 in Key West. All about 2-3 hours, small groups (under 12 people at most) and all independent tour guides (not through the ship). It will be just my husband and me. I know I'm going to get a lot of different responses but what would you tip per person if the tour operator was very good to excellent?
Thanks!!

My first cruise ever was on the Destiny over 20 years ago out of PR. DH and I found out during the cruise that a lot of last minute cruise deals were taken by locals, which is just like any other port I would think. Anyway, the whole cruise had al lot of Latin music. We were not used to this but did enjoy it a lot. However, when we got back on land we found ourselves listening to a lot of Lynyrd Skynyrd and the such...lol. It was definitely a different cruise but it was our first and has led to even more cruises. Actually because of that cruise I go out of my way to make sure I get some local food, drink and more wherever I go.

Just curious how much should I plan on spending, just DH and I. We are moderate drinkers and would like some local food. We are not very picky. Just trying to figure out how much cash I need to bring.

I'm going on the Glory in October it shows up as an excursion for Freeport.

I don't think a CD made any difference at all. At most my husband and I do Trivia and maybe the marriage show. Other than that we just hang at the bar and relax from our hectic lives. Now a good bartender is a different story. Have had a few of them. Also, the room steward makes a huge difference too. Who knows maybe I'm missing out on something.

I have always cruised in October (except for 1st cruise in December). We cruise this time of because of the price and because there are less kids on board. Not to worried about having to changing itineraries due to a storm, we figure we'll just go with the flow. However, I did have a cruise out of Puerto Rico just after Hurricane Maria. It was cancelled, of course, but we just did some quick research planned another land vacation and used our credits for our next cruise. We had credits because we paid with gift cards.

Ok so I just got this message on the site
The U.S. Department of State has received your application for your passport book on 04/20/2023. We're now reviewing your application and supporting documents.
I think it used to just say it is "in process". Am I right with that?

I have also had a job offer within a month or so of a vacation. I simply let them know about it on my start date and they were fine with it. Only downside is that it will probably be time off not paid. Good Luck!!! 🤞 I just got the job at a place I've always wanted to work at in February!

Key West is the third day. The ship can't make it to Key West before then. It takes the entire embarkation day to make it out of the Mississippi River and then another day to cross the Gulf of Mexico.
To answer your question, no. Tax will be charged until the ship leaves the river, usually around midnight, and again in Key West until the ship leaves and is 12(?) nautical miles away from Key West.
Thanks 🤑

I'll be staying in Marigny pre cruise, looking for good bars and food nearby. Not too pricey.
Thanks
