Just got off the Serenade and found the crowd much older. Took my daughter on NCL over Thanksgiving a couple years ago and we all had a blast. My daughter would have been miserable this past week of that helps.

I too get motion sick. I was in cabin 9608 and loved it. No problems at all.

You need to be aware of the age demographics on the ship you choose also. Some lines are geared to an older crowd and it can be very awkward. We just experienced this on our last cruise on RC. Just depends on the class of ship, time of the year and how active do you want to be?

We had a really good experience on the Serenade. We actually ate there twice during the cruise. We were not expecting gourmet food at $3 for nachos. The salsa and chips were great.

I was also in the theater when this problem occurred. They originally announced that they hoped to have the problem corrected very shortly, after about 10 minutes we were ask to leave the theater because of the water line breakage above us and to prevent any injuries. RC did an excellent job of keeping everything under control. I am just very thankful that no one was injured.
Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

I just returned today from the Serenade of the seas. We brought 2 bottles of wine with us as well as a case if water. The wine we carried directly thru security with no problems and the case of wine we tagged it with our luggage and it arrived with no problem.
Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

I hate that for everyone involved. I am just off the Serenade and it was a little scary when everything happened. We were in the theater, heard a loud pop and then they told us about water in the electrical room.
Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

I sailed this ship back in May 2014 and was not impressed. Side note: I have sailed multiple times on Carnival on the Sensation/Fascination so I might be spoiled. But this shipped seemed very small to me and I did have issues with motion sickness during the cruise as well as several others in our group of 22. With me it doesn't take a lot of motion for me to get sick - I can get sick in a car - but for my daredevils (husband and 18 yr old Daughter who is a college cheerleader/flyer) them getting sick says a lot. Just be prepared for it. My motto "Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it"

Did they learn any English? :)
They definitely learned how to all get into trouble. They did learn some very interesting words and so did I. 😳. I also was given the opportunity to teach a couple of them about what was appropriate to say in front of a southern lady. Hehe

Ski trip?
Yes a ski trip and we took a friend on the adventure. 😜 The two girls actually had the opportunity to meet a huge group of kids their age from England and learned so much.

Bottom line is you are your child's parent. You know your child better than anyone and it's your choice as a parent. I will tell you this, a couple of years ago I went to my child's school - she was a sophomore in high school and requested special permission to take my child on an educational adventure to study the effects of H2O in a frozen state as well as how altitude effects the H20. 😊 Not only was permission granted but the school counselor volunteered to accompany us, if needed - she said she would like to study thermal energy levels in the lodge. Haha. Needless to say the trip created more memories than ever would have been at school and thanks to a 3 page essay on her experience the days were forgiven and not counted against her. Her Junior year she missed several days and we went to Italy. Now this trip is still paying off as she is now in college - the history learned and the art lessons are still being used today.

I have read on cc that you should've able to go to the medical facility on board and get motion sickness meds at no charge. Check with your cabin steward. Motion sickness is horrible. Hope you get to feeling better.

This is my first time on RC. I was wondering if the MDR is open on embarkation day? I know on carnival and NCL it's open but the Buffett is encouraged. Thanks

Can you request this before the cruise or wait until you get there? So excited less than 60 days until blue waters!!!

Thank you. There are only 2 of us and I didn't want to have to make reservations. I really don't care if we are placed at a table for 2 or with other people.

Is the MTD on RCCL the same as Anytime Dining on Carnival? Can I just show up when I want to and wait to be seated or is it absolutely necessary to make reservations?

My thoughts - better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. 😊. Also applies to pageants and other areas of life.

Not only do I keep a photo copy if my passport in the room when traveling but I also take a photo of all of my families passports with my smart phone. I do this with all my cruise documents as well. This way it is easy for me to email a copy to my family at home ( just in case) and I have ease of access in an emergency.

Thank you for the reply. Now to figure out how noisey this cabin will be... Just concerned about it being above the bar.

Thanksgiving Cruise 2015???? Right decision?
in Royal Caribbean International
Posted
I was on a thanksgiving cruise and yes there were a lot kids onboard however we had a wonderful time - of course I had my 13 year old daughter with me. There are always venues and places that are kid free zones. I wouldn't think of it as a free for all. It was also one of the greatest Thanksgiving we have ever had.
