  1. I know it is a gamble when you book GTY and I thought we would be happy with any balcony they gave us.  I could not be more wrong.  I have been patiently awaiting our room assignment dreaming of sitting on my balcony watching the waves and looking for the little flying fishes.  Well that is not going to be the case on this trip. Yes, we have a balcony, but I can't sit and watch the waves or look for flying fish. I get to look out on a deck, I can see the ocean from a distant but holly heck I never knew these rooms existed.

The ship is sold out so if anyone has stayed in one of the aft balconies on deck 6 (Voyager of the Seas) please tell me what you thought of it.  It is the most non balcony, balcony room I have encountered.  Who knew, lesson learned.

  2. I just bought 150 shares @ 21.74.  I have another 50 waiting at a little lower.  I have been wanting to buy this stock for over 10 years.  I was too afraid at that time and I have always regretted not buying then. I told myself if it ever dropped I would buy some and this was the day.  I am so glad that I had issues with the first site I tried to use, this was on Friday, I would have been happy at 26.  I opened up a ameritrade account today and very pleased with the layout and glad it was at 21.74.  Know to figure out how to get it applied to my next cruise.

  3. Looking for something to do in St Tropez or some type of excursion that we can do from St Tropez.  This is the only port that I cant figure out what to do. We will be in port Next Tuesday 8am-10pm  I know the market will be going on in the morning and we plan to walk around but not sure what to do with the rest of the day.

  4. It had been a while since tablecloths were the center of attention around here. Now this thread gets 'em all riled up again. We just started cruising a couple years ago so I've been trying to think of something that they might get rid of in the future that could cause as much fuss as tablecloths and pillow chocolates for newer cruisers like us. I can't think of anything right now. Maybe some of my fellow newer cruisers have some thoughts.

It depends on the port. Two years ago out of Port Everglades (Ft. Lauderdale), we had a 10:30 check-in. We had 11:00 earlier this month out of Miami. 10:00-11:00 is typically the earliest, as far as I know, and each check-in time is a half hour window.

I am glad that someone mentioned the tablecloths. I find that very strange that they no longer have them but I guess that is old news. The first couple of cruises that my boys were on they still remember the waiter that had the crumb brush (don't know the formal name of that device). To go from that to no tablecloths in what I think of a very short time is kind of sad. We have all ways ate in the MDR and enjoyed a more formal service. I know that my kids experience with a formal service has benefitted them.

  5. This is a good thread for me. It's been awhile since we cruised on Carnival and this is what I have figured out so far that might be different. Please correct if wrong.

    1. You now have a Check in time for boarding. Does any one know what the earliest time is because I was just assigned a time, grant it I just booked and we leave in 2 weeks.

    2. No tablecloths in MDR.

    3. You can no longer bring on water or soft drinks??? Please tell me this isn't correct but you can bring on a bottle of wine.

This was all I have come across. I cant remember about room service but I think that it had just changed. Can you sill order coffee, juice, danish type stuff for free or is their a charge?

  6. Have not cruised on carnival in few years. Just wanted to know what the Fantasy was like. Great price but just not sure my 16 year old would be happy with this ship. Just want to make sure this isn't a booze cruise. With that being said we have loved carnival, we are Platinum but the last few years we switched to Royal. I have my opinion about that but that is for another thread. I just want to know if a great price on Fantasy is worth the cruise for a 16year old. My thought is any cruise is better then nothing but it would just be me and the 16 year old for this cruise and want him to be able to find others his age and have a good time. We would be sailing this July. Thanks for any input

  7. Went to print out my luggage tags and the room number is not the same room number as the one we have been assigned to on our set and sail. Is this something I need to be worried about? We have two cabins and I can get the other cabin delivered to our room and just move them. We did not book through RC. I am not worried but I want to make sure that nothing is a problem when we check in.

  8. I think the room is ok. It would not have been my first pick at promenade rooms but is it better then an inside cabin, I think. Time will tell. Lucky it isn't the room I will be in but our kids. 17 3/4 and 15 year old, 9th cruise for them and they have always had their own room. This will be the first that we will not be on the same floor/close by but have no problem with it . Why we went ahead and booked a guarantee room for them.

  9. Ended up with a Promenade Stateroom. We have 2 rooms, one we choose the location of and the other one we didn't care and pocketed the extra money by booking a guarantee.

Thanks for the info on changing locations within the exact category. Not many promenade staterooms so don't expect any to be available this close to departure date.
