  1. So this is probably a glitch but on board SoS right now we have a 2 device package for 3 of us, but all 3 devices are working at the same time. No one has had to log out for the 3 days of cruise so far.

Now, I do have an AT&T international package, and it’s possible I’m somehow getting that through ship Wi-Fi. If that’s the case then it’s great because $10 per day that they charge is a lot less than a voom package.

Does anyone know if an international (not a cruise-specific) data package can be accessed through ships Wi-Fi?

  2. i'm guessing you saw my daughter and son-in-law...

i think they arrived right when you did...

she told me on the phone that on arrival she headed for the bathroom, and the moment she was there they announced check in was starting..

they checked in and were right on board and headed for their room (a regular BW balcony room, not a suite).

when they got to the room, the room steward had just finished cleaning and told them the room was all theirs...

so they were on board and in their room before 11 i think....

i just looked at my whatsapp...she sent a picture of their stateroom at 11:15 italy time....

(with a notation, "where are we? " )

Our room was ready at 1. We did a walking food tour of the ship until then.

  3. So here’s the story:

Bob’s Limo was to pick us up at our Air BnB in Rome at 9:30. We left apartment at 9:20 and our car was there already. We made great time to port and were there by 10:20.

After security, at the bottom of escalator, the lady looked at pass and gave us a number, 51. Our boarding time was 1:30. Then at top of escalator another lady looked at pass , took our 51, and gave us #3. Seems good.

We were directed to sit. My butt barely hit the chair when at about 10:30 they announced check in would start and immediately called #3. Life is indeed sweet.

Check in took about 3 minutes and we were firmly onboard by 10:45.

We are emerald and had mini suite but it’s not clear if this is pertinent.

Overall boarding process 11/10 (extra point for glass of champagne on boarding.)

    I’d recommend coming early.

  4. None were offered on our Med cruise. Honestly I haven't had MDR food that good on RCCL since 2003. I had the exact same dishes 5 months ago and were disgusting on Liberty that were fantastic on Symphony. Presentations were night and day different, and taste was soooo much better.

That, my friend, is good news indeed. Thanks.

  5. The bags are dropped off as you check in, right by the ship. It's pretty hard to lose them. One person posted a few years ago that their bag was dropped in the ocean accidentally.

Not tipping porters probably increases the odds of it getting lost considerably.

They may not show up in your room for awhile, so put anything you need in your carry on, and remember it isn't TSA so no restrictions on liquids.

  6. traveling on symphony in 3 weeks time for our first every cruise.

We are a family of 4 (2 kids) and are taking 3 suitcases.

Because we need to extra bed where in the room do you store cases?

Trying to judge which cases are the right ones to take.

    Thanks all.

You picked a good first cruise! World's biggest cruise ship!

  7. I'm wondering if children can go out onto the King of the World observation deck on HOS through deck 14? This deck was one of our favorite spots on the Oasis, but looking at the HOS deck plan I'm afraid my daughter won't be able to go out there now since it looks like you have to enter the Solarium to access it?

Under 16's can go to Bistro, and I'm sure no one would care if she walks through to go to that spot. They really just don't want kids hanging out in there.

I appreciate your respect for the rules, but really I wouldn't worry about it. Just do it.

  8. CDC stats include improper use of car seats, IIRC.

Is your argument really that unless we can reduce a risk to zero, there’s no sense in bothering at all?

Not at all. It’s that if you think nothing of taking a toddler out for a pointless drive in a car seat, then you shouldn’t skip a shore excursion because you can’t get one. In other words, risk/benefit ratio.

It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to get a car seat if you can.

  9. It's a ridiculous question as we have no idea how much money your have/make. If you can afford the crown suite then probably $4000 is not that much to you. But only you can answer that question.

Sometimes I think these types of questions are really about showing off. Should I get the Lambo or settle for the BMW?

For me, $4000 is a week's take home pay, so it wouldn't be worth it. (there's an example of showing off!)

  10. Maybe they thought if you were ok paying them in full for a cruise 11 months out that you don't really care about money that much and would let it slide. I mean as long as you are giving a billion dollar corporation an interest-free loan, why not give them some of your OBC?
