  1. E2's do not connect. They have vanity chair and a love seat. OP can't sit on a love seat?

I believe the OP is under the impression that the only seating available is a single chair. If there is a love seat in addition, I think the OP would be fine with the E2 cabin. If that's the case, I hope she sees this before cancelling. :)

(Plus, and E2 is a balcony stateroom, so they'll have a couple chairs on the balcony, as well. Not cushy, upholstered chairs, though.)

  2. How do they know how much you lose?

They can track all of your gambling, if you participate in one of the casino perk programs (like, in this case, Club Royale). Those of us who just occasionally put a little money in the machines without any sort of club card would not be able to get such a win/loss statement.

  3. We love our fitbits and feel naked without them. We brought them on our last cruise and they charged just fine from the wall outlet. However, a couple days into the cruise we found them to be a hassle and ultimately left them off. For a young couple, we must be old fashioned. We dressed up for formal night and would wear to dinner what one would for a country club. After dinner, who wants to go to the cabin and hook yourself back up? We decided in the end we were on a cruise and didn't need to be monitored, although we kept 1 promise. Always take the stairs.

What could be better for a young couple than going back to the cabin after dinner and hooking up?

  4. Not sure, but I think it may depend on what kind of Fitbit you have. i have a ONE, so i need the dongle to charge it. The dongle (love that word!) plugs into a generic USB charger. This is the only way I charge my ONE and I have never had a problem with it. Other devices may charge differently.

I keep my dongle with me all the time. You never know when it might be needed. Most of the time I just keep it tucked away, though.

  5. Thanks...I just got it and don't want to ruin it. I just won't be able to link it to my computer.

No problem. Just don't forget to take it off before you go snorkeling, like I did... They can take getting a little wet, but being totally submerged in salt water - not good.

  6. Did I just get an inexperienced person or is that the new norm?

Neither. You got the correct answer. You can call and get that senior rate, but if the senior rate is higher than you originally paid, then there's no benefit to switching. That is the old norm.

A promotional rate like that will be lower than the current going rate, but that doesn't (and never did) mean you get the same difference off an older, lower fare.

  7. The answer will depend partly upon your interpretation of the meaning of "acceptable." It is specifically requested that shorts not be worn to the main dining room in the evening. In general, they do not have clothing police going around kicking people out for ignoring such requests, though.

So, if you think not being kicked out mean it's "acceptable," the answer is most likely a yes. If you think respecting the requested guidelines is required to meet "acceptable," then no. :D

  8. In b4 the 3,000 should've used a local TA response. I'm certain the usual suspects will be along in 20 seconds.

Situations like you've just outlined why I never worry on things after wrapped. What we got when booked is what we're staying with, I don't want to deal with the hassle.

Sorry for your fail at predicting the 3000 responses from the "usual suspects" (whoever those may be). Sometimes those attempts at preemptive insults don't work out as well as you thought they would.

  9. On our last cruise I would guess 85% were diamond or higher. We didn't want to wait so we went to the regular line. I couldn't get over how many people insisted in staying in the priority line. It was funny.

No way would I give up the priority I've earned, just to go to a shorter line! :D

  10. I think I would be looking for a way out with that many on-broad.

I think I would be looking for a way to get "adopted" by one of those Pinnacles, so they could take me with them on some of their future cruises. Not too many people looking to adopt a 50-year-old kid, though.

Edit: I see I'm not the first to have this idea. Already thinking my chances are slim, and now I have to compete with Brigbound.

  11. As for timing, it depends somewhat on the person, and you know your wife better than we. I would think that, at the very least, you'd want to give her advance notice that you'll be taking her somewhere, and give her an idea of what she might need to pack. (My wife would panic about what to wear, if she found out last minute; others would just go with the flow.)

As for the expiring passport, I think the possibility of the conference next year is a good segue to bringing up the topic. And you can tell her that it's easier to renew if you do it before it's expired. That would be a little bit of a white lie, and it doesn't really make a difference in the renewal process, unless it's been expired for several years. But that might be a good excuse for going ahead with renewing now.

  12. I'm sure you're right, except he suggested I just take a beach vacation and asked why I couldn't afford the $50 for luggage fees. You can put lipstick on a pig but. . .

I asked very politely and respectfully a question that I was sincerely wondering about. There was no need to make it into a personal issue that perhaps the standard is too high for me. I did not ask for anyone to tell me that I need to consider another vacation option because I am not planning to dress "formally". My manners make me better than that, not satin, chiffon, or rhinestones.

Sheesh. Your ego seems easily bruised.

  13. The chances of that happening are slim and none and slim just left town.

Jamaica isn't going to shoot themselves in the foot and lose all that tourist money.

I've never seen any government pass and implement a change as you propose in 24 hours.

    Bill

I suppose something like that could happen, if they had a government coup. In that case, though, you probably wouldn't want to get off the ship there, anyway.

  14. Hi All,

I have not cruised in years. I have read that many ships have become lax in dress code. What is the normal attire for men in the Dining Room? Are dressy shorts with a collared shirt ok for casual nights? Do most men still wear suits on formal nights? Just not sure what to have my husband and sons pack.

    Thank you!

In my experience, the "normal attire" is pretty close to what is spelled out in the dress code. It's is not mandated, but the average sticks pretty close to what is suggested.

  15. As far as standard of vacation. There is very, very little difference between RCCL, NCL, Disney, and CCL. Service, food, atmosphere, guests are all similar.

No need to be judgmental, you can wear a tux and I can dress up. We can all do it our own way within guidelines set by the cruise lines, none of which listed above require true formal attire.

I think perhaps you're imagining "judgmental" that's not really there.

  16. First sorry 'bout the confusion, I realized I kept saying 'cabin' where in fact i'm in a 'suite', I grabbed this room 'suite' during the KSF promo, I didn't even know that it even exists, so I was really oblivious(no online price) to the $pp and the regular rate of adding another guest. And just to recap, we first started out as a family of 4 on a Balcony when I brought my niece onboard, and this RFS was offered to me, presently i'm trying to add a 6th guest which i intend to do so in a few days leading up to the final pay date or maybe at the last minute(30 days before the sail date) I don't know, i have to scope CC about booking/adding guest in a suite Last Minute VS Before the final pay date.

Depending upon how full the ship is, last minute could be a risk. If the ship reaches the maximum number of berths, they won't let you add another person, even if your cabin (or suite) could accommodate another.

  17. Thanks everyone for the info. I have my state registered birth certificate and will use that. Not sure why I spent the extra $60 per kid for their passports. But at least we can do more international trips now (once I renew mine)

Well, as has been pointed out, there are some additional protections involved in having a passport, particularly if there is some emergent need to travel back home by air. It's much easier to accomplish, if you already have a passport. If you don't, you'll have to contact your consulate and go through the process of getting temporary emergency credentials, just adding to an already stressful situation.

The good news, though, is that something like that is unlikely to happen, so bring that birth certificate and enjoy your crusie.

  18. We didn't all cancel, just the couple who couldn't get the 5:30 Slot for dining. I have been booked since Feb and am anxious to go on this cruise. This couple has couple never been on a cruise so they got offended and just cancelled. We all wanted them to wait, but they are afraid they would not be able to sit with us in dining room.

If they were that easily offended, then you might be better off not traveling with them. Not trying to be mean, but it's just a fact that with travel, you need to roll with the punches sometimes. And being with people who are not good at that and get upset or offended a small inconveniences can be a drag.

  19. I called the C&A ambassador onboard about whether my 14 year old was eligible for the free photo (he didn't get a "junior" welcome aboard C&A letter, so we had nothing to refer to), and she told me the age was 21 and over.

Well, she was wrong about that. Once they turn 18, they are no longer considered "kids" and the kid's coupons, curfews, etc. don't apply. If they have C&A status, they get the same offers as any other adult, with the only exception, as I said earlier, being that they can't use the ones that are for alcohol until they turn 21.
