  1. We've got flights booked, which makes that a bit more difficult.
  2. Thanks for your input folks. Interestingly, one of the people on the original cruise is from Germany and his letter specifically said that his price would be protected pppn.
  3. Perhaps for them but not legit for their customers. Instead of Quantum doing 13 nights Vancouver to Hawaii, it is now doing 14 nights from Seattle to Tokyo. The itinerary of the alternative cruise they offered has also changed since they emailed on Thursday.
  4. No the 9 night is cheaper but not as cheap per night for our grade as the 13 night one. It also had a great itinerary and this one basically has no ports. We’ll also need to spend 4 extra nights in hotels to fit round our already booked flights. We are D+ with Royal but this has really shown me their true colours and my 5 free drinks a 2 days WiFi might not be enough to keep me 😂
  5. The option they have given us is a 9 night cruise with no ports instead of a 13 night cruise with a great itinerary. They will be very lucky if the can sell this cruise, it is so crap. Not a great option.
  6. That is appalling customer service. They have decided to change a cruise only 10 months out and we have already booked flights, so we are going to lose a lot of money whichever way we cut it.
  7. Hi, that is slightly different but I still think it is terrible to charge you the same for less nights. The cruise which royal have cancelled wasn’t due to Covid. That was a previous cruise with Celebrity and they adjusted the fare to the number of nights, so I assumed that is what Rotal would do. Seemingly not. The current cruise Royal have cancelled in Quantum Vancouver to Hawaii. They are offering a 9 night cruise instead of a 13 night one and it has no ports instead of 4.
  8. Does anyone have experience of what exactly they mean by cruise fare rate being protected for the cancelled cruise? I assumed the rate pppn paid for the original cruise but on another group someone said that wasn’t honoured and they are paying the same total price, which is ridiculous, as it was a 13 night cruise and now 9 nights. We have just returned from a Celebrity cruise in Asia over Christmas, which was cancelled 3 times due to Covid. Each time we got to keep the pppn rate, so I assumed Royal would do the same, as this time, no matter the reason, it is their fault.
  9. Wow, so you pay the same for a 9 night cruise as a 13 night cruise? That is not how Celebrity do it. I had a cruise cancelled by them and the original rate pppn was used when the number of nights changed from 14 to 12. I'm disgusted with how Royal are treating people over this.
  10. I’ve read elsewhere that the Quantum cruise was cancelled due to a charter. No facts to back it up though. Does anyone have experience of what exactly they mean by cruise fare rate being protected for the cancelled Quantum cruise? I assumed the rate pppn paid for the original cruise but on another group someone said that wasn’t honoured and they are paying the same total price, which is ridiculous, as it was a 13 night cruise and now 9 nights. We have just returned from a Celebrity cruise in Asia over Christmas, which was cancelled 3 times due to Covid. Each time we got to keep the pppn rate, so I assumed Royal would do the same, as this time, no matter the reason, it is their fault.
  11. I’m assuming when it said in the email you could keep your original rate, it meant the rate per night.
  12. Agreed and sailing out of Vancouver is beautiful, so doing that in the middle of the night is another disappointment. We were on the cancelled Quantum sailing, so knock after knock for us sadly. We are coming from Scotland and can’t change flights without losing a lot of money, so we are pretty much stuck with moving over to this dreadful itinerary.
  13. All UK bookings made on board are transferable to another cruise until final payment. Just transfer this one to something in the future and book the one you have with the new TA. That should be easy, unless your booking is with CN. I have only ever made one booking with the large UK cruise specialist, CN. I bought a future cruise on the ship and was happy for it to be associated with them. Never again! When I went to transfer it at the end of last year they said I couldn’t and wanted to charge me hundreds of pounds more. I contacted Royal who told me I should be able to change the booking. Got that in writing and it turned out the extra was CN fee for making the change. It took weeks but eventually they changed the fee to £50. In contrast, my own TA changed one for me in a 5 min phone call, while I was in Hong Kong a couple of weeks ago. I’ll never use CN again.
  14. I thought the classic drink package covered all drinks under $10? Does anyone know if gluten free beer is included on any package?
  15. That’s really disappointing and would be a deal breaker for me. Surely they should be able to make adjustments to the Yacht Club menu. Very odd stance for an Italian cruise line, since Italy has one of the highest per capita diagnosis of Coeliac.
  16. Royal’s gluten free offering is badly let down by its lack of desserts. They completely lack imagination and haven’t improved in the 13 years since my diagnosis. I sailed on my first P&O cruise last month and they had such variety by comparison. Royal can’t even make decent pancakes.
  17. Thank you. I actually contacted them and they said the day we are there is very busy and the shuttle will not run.
  18. Thanks, just checked the website. Unfortunately, they either don't have a tour the day we're there or it is already fully booked.
  19. Thank you for this information.
  20. Thanks everyone. Are these cost in $US or $CAD? Thanks
  21. Thanks folks. Great to know there are still options.
  22. How did you get on with this? Hoping to do something similar next month.
  23. Hi, I a considering buying the three dining package for an upcoming cruise. The price is £90 per person. Will I need to pay 18% on top of that or is that already included? Been ages since I bought one and can't remember. Thanks.
  24. Hi, I’m also gluten free and have been on a few MSC cruises. They are extremely cautious regarding cross contamination, which is why they don’t recommend eating in the buffet. In reality, that is no different to any other line and they will tell you what has no gluten containing ingredients at the buffet if you ask. I have never been ill from eating in the buffet on MSC. Did you try the baked apples for breakfast?
  25. I have no idea how this will work on P&O, as this is our first cruise with them. However, I have a fair amount of experience with. Royal Caribbean’s Royal Up. We’ve bid and won an upgrade to a Junior Suite from a balcony on a few occasions.
