  1. I have to admit this is really getting to me. We have a cruise booked next year. Yes, I've read a few positive reviews as well. I don't plan to cancel based on the awful reviews and postings I've read, but I'd really like to see more positives about this ship and crew. I'm sure many of you had a good experience.

To that end, I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for anyone who has had a good/great/wonderful/fantastic experience on the Vision Of The Seas. In other words, have a thread compiling the Positive aspects all in one place. If you have had more than one cruise on VOS you can tell me about as many as you want.

Since we have yet to sail on her yet, I'm leaving it up to you who have already completed one or more cruises to post your thoughts and comments here on this thread.

The main thing to remember is NO negatively please.

This thread will be useful to anyone who either has a booked cruise or is contemplating one in the future.

    Thanks!

I spent 35 consecutive days on the Vision in April and May this year.

This is a very well run ship. The officers, including Captain Marek were always out and about, checking on every detail.

The most outstanding thing though, was the crew. From the excellent room stewards, dining room waitstaff and bartenders, shop clerks, there was so much friendliness. Even it was a workman, they always had a hello.

The food was very good, and the executive chef, Donna walked through the dining room, asking if we liked the food.

I'm planning on being on the Vision again, and as many more times as I can!:)

  2. I took my Dad on a cruise when he was 88. We had a company recommended by the ship have a motorized scooter in our cabin all charged up and ready to go. We had a handicapped room, which made it easier to shower. I even took him to the beach in Cozumel. My son and his family decided to come too, and the kids will never forget that trip.

    Enjoy!:)

  3. continuation....

    Finally a Transatlantic (TA).

    Yay for me!!

I was almost sure I was going to do it…..and on a small ship like the Vision, and out of Tampa, where I have friends and family to visit. I emailed some of those friends and asked if they had ever cruised on the Vision or out of Tampa, and they said “only on our last four cruises”. My other “cruising” friends here in Costa Rica have also been on the Vision, and like it more than the “mega ships”.

Barcelona has been my real goal, and I was going to find an inexpensive B&B to stay at and really get to see it all. Like all great plans, this one evolved. When corresponding with a new CC friend that was doing the Caribbean, the TA and the next b2b cruises in Europe. I couldn’t pass up the Barcelona to Venice cruise. I mean, it was going to Cannes and Rome and Venice!

My in depth touring in Barcelona will have to wait for another cruise. I have to go again!

I will wait until I’m on the ship to take advantage of the specials you get for booking while cruising, and by the final week I will be Diamond, so some of those discounts may help me. Or I will have talked to enough experienced cruisers and found some new ideas for the best way to book a good price with some OBC (on board credit)

    to be continued.....:o

  4. After many false starts, I finally picked out which cruises to keep and which to drop and which to add. Spent lots of time with the RCI reps (and even longer trying to get calls through). It’s done, I’m committed…..

    First,

2 weeks back to back in the Caribbean starting on April 2. The Vision only has one itinerary for the Caribbean right now, so I will repeat all the ports. But how can a trip to the Caribbean be boring? Plus, I am a beach person, so I will get to try different beaches on the second leg, and maybe one day, stay on the ship when everyone is off exploring.

I’ve spent hours researching, emailing and corresponding with people on Cruise Critic (CC), tour companies, and friends that have been to some of the places I will end up seeing. Then onto the next part of my bucket list.

  5. I have a friend leaving on the Vision this April. I haven't see too

many good reviews of the ship. Is there anything positive to

report on the Vision that I can share with them?

    Thanks.

Have them join our roll call. Sign up for Meet & Mingle.

My friends have told me nothing but good things about the Vision, so I will be on my last leg of 4 b2b's with them.:)

  6. I live in Costa Rica. All pills are in blister packs. They never have any type of label from the pharmacy, not even your name. They do not keep records at the pharmacy of what you take. I use day of the week pill boxes, but keep the original cardboard box the meds were in.....flattened out, but just in case I need to show what I have. I also bring my original Dr prescription. My meds are always with me in my carry on. Never had a problem, even with sniffing dogs at JFK, or any TSA agent.

  7. There are a few better brands, but not sold in tourist areas, so for everyday quality, I like 1820 brand. It's sold in gift shops for twice the grocery store price, but on a tour it might be hard to shop at a grocery store (super)

  8. Thanks everyone. I have heard horror stories of nice clothes being ruined by hot water and hot dryers with the ship's service. Leaning more to hand washing and having them iron what is wrinkled without a dryer. But also having the name of a laundromat I could taxi to on port day will be good to know. Will not be in a hotel in between cruises......all are b2b's.:o

  9. I'm doing 4 b2b's and then a 14 day TA. I will definitely need to do laundry, and I don't trust the ship laundry service. I guess I could do a lot of hand washing, and send things to be ironed if needed. Really, really hate to waste vacation time at a laundromat, but if not too far away, I will consider it.

If someone has a suggestion and knows the area, please tell me the easiest way.

  10. Since this will be our first time in St. Kitts, I wanted to see more of the island but I am semi handicapped, I have to have a hip replacement 3 days after we return from our cruise in March. So- I can not just sit on towels on the beach, and we have to have shade most of the day.

Ok, wondering if the train is worth the trip vs a day at a beach?

    Thanks so much

    Marcia

Are you up to a tour that ends at a beach? Going to St Kitts for the first time in April and taking Thenford Grey Tours /w Cockleshell Beach. Sounds like a good way to see a lot of the island and end up at a beach with chairs. Just had hip replacement a few months ago. So fantastic to do things again......wish I'd had it done earlier. No pain after the surgery.....whole thing was a breeze......now the therapy was hard, won't kid you, work at it, do everything they ask you to! Have fun on your cruise!

  11. I want a quiet beach........so NO planes overhead (sounds like my idea of hell). No seaweed or pollution or strange smells, or broken glass. Would hope for a restaurant or snack shack, nothing fancy, chair and umbrella, and not a thousand people! Been thinking of Pinel Island since I was there in 2008, but some still love it and others say it has changed?? I will be taking a taxi, and hope to arrange to be picked up by the same taxi, so I'm not stranded and miss my ship (Eclipse) leaving at 5. Going on April 9 with 12,000 people in port. Don't want a tour, this will be just a beach day after doing 8 islands.

  12. In 2008, my daughter and 7 yr old grandson and I rented a car (reserved ahead) Don't remember the name, but I would call it "rent a wreck"......not a criticism at all, I want to do it again. We had to wait a bit for the car, it was right next to the dock....they warned us to leave the windows down and the door unlocked when we parked at the dock to take the little boat over to the island. It was on the far side of the island, but we found it easily. It was one of the best times on our cruise! Lounge chairs and umbrella's to rent, a little restaurant with good food, and their own tables if you don't want to bring it to your lounge chair. Calm water, nice sand, and we walked to the other side of the island and had waves to play in. If there are lot's of taxi's now, I might do it that way, but definitely want to go there again. We even had time on the way back, to stop at a discount liquor store in town. I live an hour from beaches in Costa Rica, and this beach is an A+
