  1. Three places come to mind for Wonder Martini's -

If you're looking for a sweet version -  Pistachio Martini in Suite Lounge, Cotton Candy Martini in Wonderland, Chocolate Martini in Casino -  Espresso Martini in Casino.

If you're looking for just a gold old fashioned martini - Favorite places are Mason Jar, Pub, or Suite Lounge

As I type this... I just realized how many martini's we've drank on a cruise... OOOPS

  2. Everyone's preference is different.  We primarily do 3 days because they are convenient (close to home), a great weekend getaway if you just want some fun in the sun and a little casino time.  We don't really go for the entertainment (although we have enjoyed it many times).  Always found the food to be acceptable and even at times outstanding.

  3. I am a smoker -  I abide by the rules and only smoke in designated spaces.  Additionally, I try my best to be polite understanding that smoking can bother other people.  If I'm at a machine and smoking, I don't create a huge mess.  I don't blow smoke in the direction of someone sitting next to me who doesn't smoke (or someone who does) and finally, I often even ask the person next to me if smoking will bother them if I don't see them smoking.

What I really don't understand... Why does being a non-smoker give some folks (certainly not all) an excuse to be rude?  We all have choices -  If the smoke bothers you that much, choose another cruise line that has casino's and doesn't allow smoking, don't go to the casino, or in the case of the Wonder, go to the non-smoking casino.  I'm using the USB fan as an example.  If I'm sitting at a machine in the smoking section and someone comes and sits next to me blowing a fan at me I'm not going to be happy.  It's rude and inconsiderate for the person smoking.  At the same time, using the casino solely as a smoking parlor is rude also.

  4. Floridian here, we take mostly 3 day weekend cruises as others have stated (casino comps) -  and often take friends with us from various states (some flown in from as far as Colorado) who have never cruised before and didn't want to end up stuck on a boat if they didn't like it.  I'm usually surprised at the folks who will fly in for such a short cruise, but have met people from all over.  From what I've seen, the folks who fly in for the shorter cruises seem to be younger/middle aged and still working so I'm betting that PTO (or lack of) probably has a lot to do with it.

  5. Can't answer the two scooters, but I suggest getting one of the small doorstops (cabin steward MAY be able to give you one, but easier to just buy a cheap one) - see below.  If they will be going in and out of the room during the day and are able to get around inside the room easily, you can part the scooter(s) outside the room (just not overnight).  This saves me a TON of time with my husband.  He uses a walker or cane inside the room.

On another note, if you have a way of transporting the scooters yourself and/or are driving, it's a ton cheaper and allows them to get from the car to the terminal much easier.

  6. Looking for some advice/input.  My husband will be using a mobility scooter on our upcoming cruise that's stopping in Amalie -  He can walk short distances, but is pretty much miserable standing for long periods much less walking -  I'm looking for any suggestions to see if it's even reasonable to think about getting off the boat even if its just to self-explore.  If it's just a matter for transportation to a beach or something to that effect, I could take his rollator as well -  maybe a taxi to a beach  -  Any/all input appreciated.

  7. Just got off her yesterday ....

Anyone recently cruise on the Indy?  We've got our cruise coming up at the end of the month and haven't seen any recent reviews or info on the boards. Have a few questions...

    How is the ship condition?

GREAT!  No complaints at all, constantly cleaning, room was in good condition and zero complaints.  Overall great ship and sailing her again next month.

Are the shows back up and running (Grease)?

Grease was up and running (didn't go, but heard the announcements)

How was the food, specifically the specialty restaurants?

Chops -  great food, service was a little slow (but attentive), but I think they are struggling with staff

Izumi - great food and service

Johnny Rockets - Skip this one... service slow (they appear to be short staffed and food was "meh" at best.

Playmakers - Grabbed snacks a couple of times here, food and service were quick and great.

Any idea what capacity the ship is sailing at?

    2400 on our sailing.

Was the mask mandate being enforced?

    yes,

Are the reservations for entertainment and specialty restaurants quickly booked on the first day?

"prime" time for restaurants booked quickly, but could always get something.  couldn't tell you about shows.

  8. OK, so I'm one of those folks who scored an amazing deal on Alaska next year -  I paid off the entire trip (upgraded) and then later added air2sea -  I've made a few payments on this and noticed that each time I log in the balance due is higher.  Since this was a casino comp, I've e-mailed clubroyale to see if they could assist, but have any of you guys/gals had this problem before and how difficult was it to resolve?

  9. Putting my 2 cents in here.  Hubs and I both love tiki bars -  Seriously, we seek them out when on vacation.  Bamboo room is hit or miss -  Much like other spaces/bars in the ship, it really depends on who's in there.  We've had trips where that was our favorite bar to hang out in and other trips where it was just dead and not as much fun.  Overall though, I think I would miss it if it weren't there.  Always good for at least one night/day on a quick weekend cruise.

  10. First -  NOT bashing the Club Royale program, just trying to figure out how to get my account(s) resolved.

On my last cruise (Nov 21), I noticed my status (mere Prime) wasn't listed on my sea pass.  Went and saw the host and he was able to resolve quickly, gave me my sticker and I went about my trip thinking all was resolved.  Got home and noticed that none of my points were reflected on the clubroyaleoffers page and called in.  Somehow a NEW C&A was created for me on that trip (after several phone calls) with my husbands DOB attached -  UGH.  In short, all I really need is for them to combine the accounts and delete one of the C&A numbers, but I'm finding it impossible to reach anyone that can assist.   Any thoughts on who else to contact besides the general number?  It will be the difference between Prime and Signature levels if they aren't combined.

  11. As someone who has been on 3 cruises since the restart (and tested postive for COVID immediately following the first one), I've avoided most of these posts because they seem so polarizing.  So far we've sailed Mariner twice and Odyssey once.  Scheduled for another in early February.  I'll being going into this knowing:

    • There will most likely be changes that we can't even begin to predict at this time (testing, shows/ports cancelled/venues closed, etc)
    • I may catch COVID
    • I may get quarantined
    • I'll probably have a great time because I usually try and make the best of any vacation.  I'll bring things to entertain myself should it be a worst case scenario.
    • There may be things that frustrate me and I'll need to adapt and overcome
    • EVERYONE should make their OWN decision based on what's best for them knowing all of the above.  If you're solely relying on RCCL to keep you safe -  That isn't fair - especially with the current situation.  There's only so much a company can do short of cancelling all cruises/excursions/entertainment, etc.  I'm responsible for keeping my mask on, washing my hands and following the current protocols.  Frankly it would be embarassing for someone else to correct me when I knew the rules going in.

  12. We were on Odyssey with a Genie (Marla) and she was wonderful.  We had a last minute upgrade and were still contacted as soon as possible.  Met us at the terminal, walked us on, introduced us to our steward, etc.  While shows/dining times weren't an issue on our trip because of very low passenger counts, Marla still made sure we had everything we could possibly want (and then some).

Just in reference to folks coming into your room, if you order room service directly (instead of via the Genie), the won't enter your room.  However, if you order through the Genie, they will make sure the cabin steward is available to set everything up for you.

As this was our first Star class cabin, I can't compare to anything pre COVID, but I will say, I can't imagine anything could have been better in any way.  The service was fantastic.

  13. For us it works out -  I designate a certain amount of money per year to gamble with -  I always hit prime (lowest level to get a free cruise).  Once I hit prime, we generally get my husband to prime as well.  At this time, it guarantees us 2 "free" cruises per year at a minimum (inside cabin up to 7 or 8 days).  Additionally, we get monthly offers (I usually get a balcony and my husband an oceanview).  For us, we book 5-7 cruises a year from these offers.  With Prime status we also get free drinks in the casino.   We also live in Florida so if we're travelling out of here, a weekend getaway is easy and fun (we also rarely get off the ship unless it's at Coco Cay on the short cruises).

  14. Woo Hoo!  Ditto on being able to shift!  Same cabin!!  (Sky Loft) -  Tried to upgrade to Star Class, but they said no upgrades.  Really can't complain over that one.  Anyone know about the onboard purchases?  Transfer, 125% OBC, or refund?   The gentleman I have on the phone isn't overly familiar with all of the provisions, so I figured one of you guys has already asked!  🙂
