Just making sure you are aware that the Alilaguna is totally different to the vaporetto bus service.

On the vaporetto you can purchase a 24h pass anytime but the clock doesn’t start ticking until you validate (punch) the pass in the little box.

Alilaguna tickets can be bought online [saves €1]

There are only a few Alilaguna routes, and they are more expensive.  IIRC it was €7 from St Marks to the cruise terminal and €15 from airport to cruise terminal or St Marks.

    Hi.

Thank you, yes, the Alilaguna and the regular vaporetto are different but only the Alilaguna boats go to the cruise ship terminal.  The regular vaporetto do not from what I've learned.  And we were hoping to go directly there.

We basically need a one way from Zaterre to the cruise port (with luggage) and then two roundtrips total from the cruise port to San Marco (one Saturday and one Sunday).  So we thought that a 24 hour pass would do the trick.  But we need to buy it at Zaterre and was curious if anyone has purchased a 24 hour pass with a credit card at that stop.

Although I just read the Alilaguna schedule and it looks like the last boat from San Marco to the ship is 6:58pm which doesn't allow us to stay out past that time and use the Alilaguna boat to get back.    Hmmmm.  I may have to look at the people mover route again.

I'm sure this will all fall into place when we get there. 🙂

  2. One last question....I promise 🙂

Can you purchase a 24 hour Alilaguna pass using a credit card at the Zaterre stop?

We will be in Venice for a few days but don't need Alilaguna until the last 24 hours and need to board at Zaterre near our hotel before heading to the ship.  And I've read if I purchase it at the airport when we land the clock starts on the 24 hour ticket at purchase and not when we first use it.

    Thanks!

  3. Someone had mentioned in another thread that Celebrity had a $20 day pass? from San Marco to the ship.   I called Celebrity yesterday to ask about it rather than buy multi day passes when we land (we will be in Venice before the cruise).  She said she didn't know anything about a $20 transportation day pass.  But I feel like it does exist because of the other thread.

Has anyone been to Venice in the past few weeks on Celebrity that might know more about it?   If the Celebrity pass is for 24 hours of just during the day.   Just trying to figure out what to buy at the airport.

    Thanks 🙂

I checked my daily- it says they were providing tender service with a daily pass, price was $20 for the day. We skipped St Marks that night as we had been in Venice a few days and knew there was a huge concert that night we had seen the stage set up for.

Hi SSAtlantic.   Great info about the tender.  We are going in several weeks and I was curious.    Had planned on using the Alilaguna from the port but this might be easier.   Did the daily happen to give the hours that the tender was running?  And was it unlimited trips or just a roundtrip?

    Thanks so much.

Yes you could! We were not sailing with Celebrity  that time (last year) and we were embarking and disembarking in Venice. On the day of our disembarkation there was regatta for gondolas so transportation was very limited. We were happy to discover that alilaguna is sailing right from the port as we had luggage with us too. We also used this service to get from airport to our hotel near Rialto/San Marco instead of using real bus + vaporetto.

Check vaporetto  (regular waterbus service) too.

Thank you!  This is so helpful.

We used Alilaguna waterbus right from our pier to San Marco when we disembarked

You can also reach it by vaporetto, but I think you need to use Peoplemover first to get to Piazalle Roma.

Tatka thanks for the info!   We will try the Alilaguna waterbus.  Could you just buy tickets right there or would you recommend buying them in advance?

    Thank you!

  7. Good morning.

Has anyone been on the Infinity or other Celebrity ship recently in Venice that has some insight into traveling from the Venice port to St. Marks Square and also from a Venice hotel to the port.

I've been doing a lot of reading and I've heard that some ships offer a shuttle?  Does the Infinity offer one?   I've also read that the Vaporetto does not stop at the cruise port Stazione Marittime and the closest stop in the Piazzaol Roma and then it's a 15 minute walk or a People Mover (still reading up on navigating that).

Just curious if anyone has been there recently and has some tips on how to get from a hotel to the ship (with luggage).   And then the next day from the ship to St. Marks Square the most efficiently.   It would be most appreciated!  Hoping to wrap my head around this before we leave. 🙂

    Thank you!

We were up in 7903 and these cabins are definitely larger on the Infinity and we never felt crowded.  I've been doing some research and found out that they are NOT larger cabins on the Summit.  And yes, they did put up a wall, I would imagine for privacy reasons, on the Summit.

Now, like I said, in 7903, if we opened our cabin door, we looked straight across to the window of the elevator vestibule....plenty of natural light and my DH would walk out to the window every morning to get an indication of what the weather was like.

Anyway, the window bulges out on the side of the ship and the elevators are actually on the sides of the vestibule, adjacent to the balcony cabins.  So, you won't have to look through the glass elevators, you basically

I was worried about the lack of privacy but it never was an issue.  It seemed as though very few people used that elevator on our sailing.  We were never bothered by noise.  Anyway, 7903 had a direct view of the large window and 7905 had a view of the actual elevators on the forward side of the vestibule.  I would only imagine it is exactly the same for the deck 6 cabins.  I would stay in these cabins on deck 7 again in a heart beat!  Bon voyage and enjoy your sailing!

Ooh this is so exciting.  We are in 7903 and 7905 in a few weeks.  Can't wait to see these cabins.  We're excited to have the glass windows right outside the cabin.   Thanks for the description!

  9. Hi. We are actually going to be sailing in 7905 and 7903 on the Infinity this summer.  Do you happen to have any photos of cabin 7903?  These seem to be the least photographed cabins 🙂   ...I can't see to find them anywhere.

In my search to find pictures of those Infinity cabins, I came across one for the Summit post dry dock recently.   It looks like they added a hallway outside 7901,03 and 05.  So those cabins don't open to the elevator like on the Infinity.  I've never been in those cabins but I wonder if that reduced their size?  Totally a guess but perhaps why it shows them as smaller?

    Hi all ...

We sailed in a Cat 9, midship inside cabin on the Infinity and just loved it.  We were in cabin 7903 and our friends in 7901.  The cabins were much larger than the normal inside cabins and the layout was very unique to each one of these cabins as well.  There was also one to the side of us, 7905 and three just below us on deck six.  Anyway, the unique layout and size of these cabins made an inside cabin very palatable.

Now, I am looking at the deck plans on the Summit and they also have cabins in the same places but the deck plans don't show them to be the larger cabins as on the Infinity.  I can find no specific information or even one review on these cabins on here or FB or google ... not anywhere.

Can anyone confirm if these cabins are the same size as the ones on the Infinity and if so, any other particular pros and cons of staying in one of these cabins?

Just got off the Infinity...their soft-serve machine was not working as of last night...they were even having trouble in the evening trying to keep the regular ice cream frozen...hopefully by the time that you cruise it will be taken care of...happy cruising!

Thanks for the update.  🙂  I love these boards and the real time updates.  Hope you had a nice cruise!

@travelbug4 We booked 7903 Infinity for a February 2019 cruise. Was curious about this as well!

    Hi!

I hope you had a fantastic cruise!   Just curious if you liked 7903 in February 🙂  And if you happen to have any photos?  It seems like a great location just can't seem to find any photos (other than the one out there) of this cabin.

    Thanks for your help.

  12. Hello!

We will be traveling on the Celebrity Infinity and have just booked cabins 7903 and 7905.   They are inside cabins just outside the glass elevators but I can't seem to find a lot of information on them other than they were added during a previous dry dock.    Does anyone have any photos of these rooms or any info on them?  Are they bigger?   They seem larger on the deck plans but I can't find any specific information on the layout or size.  Also wondering if there is a lot of noise because of their location outside the main elevators?

Thanks so much for any help.   There seem to be six rooms like these (7901, 7903, 7905 and 6901, 6903 and 6905).

  13. We did the same thing when we sailed on the Glory in April. We had a 12:05pm flight out of FLL. We did the self disembark (this was our first Carnival cruise so we didn't have priority getting off the ship).

We got to FLL so early that we were able to fly standby on the 10:15am flight (granted we had no bags to check).

It's definitely do-able. The only risk is if the ship comes in late.
