  1. We have been cruising for over 15 years and have been on many different lines…my hubby has always worn dress shorts in the MDR’s for dinner (except formal nights) and has never been asked to change.

I will never understand why people let what others wear bother them?  As long as I’m not watching “naked and afraid”, while I’m eating, I don’t care what others are wearing. 😜

With Florida, I wouldn't worry so much about the CDC as I would worry about the state Executive Order in place that prohibits any business from requiring proof of vaccination.

If I could, I, for one, would not give any of my generated herd immunity to anyone who refuses to get vaccinated. Legit medical reasons I'll give - that's the purpose of herd immunity.  But, with so many people for political or personal reasons are refusing, I doubt we'll ever get there.  That's going to put a big chink in anyone wanting cruise or otherwise get back to "life as normal."  IMHO, of course.

Those who refuse to get a vaccination are going to have a very small choice of "vacation" for awhile: I heard visiting the cows in Amish areas in South Central Pennsylvania is nice - wet bottom shoo fly pie with a scoop of ice cream from the local bovines is yummy.  And,the buffets are open.   Or, drive to perhaps West Virginia and go rafting on the New River.

The banks most of the time will credit his dispute back right away so interest stops accruing, while it is being investigated however if it turns out it was a valid charge they will put it back on his card and charge the interest he should have been charging. The merchant in this case RCCL/NCL has 30 days to prove that it was a valid charge. Now will NCL/RCCL just say this money was supposed to be refunded and just not fight the fight not sure.

Not the impression I got it all. It sounds like his card has been paid in full, so he is not accruing any interest on it. He even included the response he got from the credit card company.

60 days for a refund is asinine.

I hope y’all remember that next time you consider booking a cruise.

It could be worse. Some of us booked with NCL and we have to wait 90 days! Talk about asinine!

There is a new thread on the Norwegian board from someone who did a credit card dispute and won.  He did not have to wait long at all before his bank credited his money back.

The federal government has announced that anyone who lives in or visits New York City should presume to be exposed to covid and should self-quarantine for 14 days if they travel anywhere else.

NCL says that they’ll deny boarding to people exposed to covid.

Can any cruise lines embark passengers in New York City during the next month? NCL has 6 cruises departing from NYC in April.

Then why the heck haven’t they canceled our April 22nd cruise out of NYC yet? 😒 No, we aren’t going, but we want a refund in lieu of FCC.

  6. We have a cruise booked for 4/22, but clearly it won’t be sailing.  There’s no way I’m canceling because we also want our money back.  They’ll wait until the last minute before canceling.  They want us to get the FCC and then charge us additional money because the prices will obviously be higher.  Not happening for us. We already have vacations planned/booked for the next 2 yrs, so an NCL cruise is not an option in that timeframe.

Well, recommendation you say. .The recommendation also came down from the White House to halt cruising for at least 30 days. A recommendation was made to stop gatherings of 250 or more....Not sure where you live but in Washington state, the schools are closed until April 24, fast food restaurants are converting to drive through only, churches are going online instead of in person, telecommuting is becoming prevelant . Social distancing is the new buzz word. All following recommendations.  If the CDC recommend no more than 50 person gatherings....it will be taken to heart here.

There is a difference in ordering and recommending.  It’s important that we are not misleading the folks reading this and thinking that it has been ordered and is mandatory.

I live in NC and the only thing here, so far, is closing the schools in our county for 2 weeks.  Everything else has been business as usual.  In fact, we drove out and spent the weekend in Raleigh.  No shortage of people out and about.

  8. Not on a cruise now, we are booked for Encore on 4/22, which is after their cancellation time frame, but I received an email yesterday stating they have canceled Kinky Boots for our cruise.  They are either expecting to cancel further out, which is what I am absolutely hoping for, or they still want us to cruise and not have any activities on board. Not what we paid for and we will not go if that is the case.

  9. I know everyone feels very strongly about what's going on and what will happen and won't happen, but I read a very interesting article this morning online about travel cancellations for cruising, hotels, flights, etc.

I won't bore you with the entire article, but the point of it was for everyone in our situation to remember who is going to treat us well and who doesn't when it comes to OUR decision to cancel.  After all, we'll all be re-booking a vacation at some point.  The question is, will we re-book with the same airline, hotel, cruise line, etc.?? 🤨
