  1. We are flying into mia two days early and have rented a car for two days at a cost of $146 and doing some sightseeing fri and sat. We also have taken the train from the airport to ft' lauderdale for $5.00 p.p. and take a cab from the station to the hotel. The train takes about 40 min. and runs every 30 min. depending on the time of day. We are renting a car on return for the day since are flight is at night so we are having lunch and fun in southbeach for the day. The car is costing us $61 for the day. Good Luck

I made a mistake in the rental car price. It is $64 for the two days!

  2. We're on the Crown Feb. 2014.

Flights are less expensive for us to fly into the Miami airport rather than Fort Lauderdale. Can anyone here tell me how far it is, approximately what a cab would cost and how much time would it take from the Miami airport to the Ft. Lauderdale pier?

    Thank you!

If you are going same day a cab ride runs around $70 to $90 w/ tip. The blue shuttle runs $30 a person to dock. If you are going in a day or two early I have some really good ways of doing that since I have done that before !

  3. We flew from the west coast to Miami a day ahead for our cruise. Then rented a car for the 3 of us and drove from Miami airport to FLL where we dropped off the rental car (no one way drop off charge). We then took the free hotel shuttle to where we were spending the night. The next day we used the hotel shuttle to the pier for a minimal fee.

  4. Ok 10:30 is makeable, but do you really need that stress, 2 yrs ago we we're walk offs and in no hurry so spent morning in the internet room, watching people panic because even though we were in port at 6:30am nobody got off until 9:30 because the port put the ship at dock that was meant for a differnt sized princess ship and they could not get the walkways to match up until then.

As for cruise lines, some people are missing things they enjoyed on other Princess ships, but if you haven't been on Princess you will not know that, so enjoy yourself on those things that are offered on whatever ship you chose.

We are going Dec 15 th and we are flying out of Miami on a 7:00 p.m. flight to Las Vegas. It is cost effective for us on the flight,so we take a cab to Ft Lauderdale airport and rent a car for the day and go into So. Beach for lunch and spend the afternoon shopping or just enjoying the day. Since we are on vacation we try to relax during are travels and enjoy every moment. We return ther car at Miami around 5:00 . If you have the time you should enjoy every moment and not worry about getting off the ship to check a plane. I always wait til 30 days before to get a great rate on the car on it happened again the other night [ $61.00 ] . It is a great price if you price tranfers out you will see that it is workable! Have a great trip on whatever you decide on doing ! Bob

  5. Thought I would post a picture of my obstructed view balcony on the Royal Princess. Emerald deck cabin 438. it is the first " straight balcony aft of the mid ship "carve out" port side. as you can see there is no tender in front of the balcony. The port side rescue boat is below to left. you have a view of the promenade deck and the sea to the left looking down!

During the build out they changed a lot of the fronts of the balcony cabins from obstructed to clear view. I am sailing next month and my cabin shows obstructed view when it really has a clear view . They still show obstructed view on there web site . We caught on when we started to see photos of the ship the last few months and it was confirmed on live web t.v. the last 10 days!

  7. I'm glad everyone is enjoying the photos! Don't worry, I'll be writing a full review (no sugar coating) and taking tons of photos.

I just got off the QUEEN ELIZABETH in Europe about a week ago so I'm working on that review and processing over 700 photos I took along the way! I'll just say upfront that the QUEEN ELIZABETH was near perfection as was the weather and ports.

I'm a big fan of the Celebrity Solstice Class, so it will be interesting to see how the ROYAL PRINCESS stacks up. As far as design, demographics, size, price, and itineraries I think it will be a fair comparison.

They switched the sailing around today and are heading to St Marteen first and Princess Cay last do to high seas in the area tomorrow !
  8. The forward cabin balconies can only be used in port and not at sea. I am booked in cabin L115 and my obstructed view was the metal plate railing running 3 ft up from top to bottom. You have a great view from the lido deck level standing up but not sitting down. A few of us have been keeping a eye on the latest photos of the ship and we have noticed from a couple of days ago that they have made some changes on our cabins. They seemed to have switched from that solid metal front back to the plexi see thru normal railing. We looked at both sides and that seems to be what has happened. We are keeping a sharpe eye out ! Bob

  9. I took l115 on deck 16 The obstructed view is only from about waist down and is a solid metal 3 foot wall from the ground up. The view will be fantastic from that height and you are above the bridge . The deck above is the private area for adults only so there is no noise above you ! As far as which side its all depends on which side the ship ends up docking in port . Just remenber that the view from that deck will override which side you are on. Also deck 16 if you look at the layout makes it real easy to get to the pool deck , buffet , gym without any real effort ! When are you sailing ? Bob & Donna
