  1. Just looking at the Princess website, it says "With Dine My Way:

    • Customize your dining time for each day, once you've made the final payment for your booking.
    • Select from the main dining room, specialty dining venues or both. If you've already booked and paid for specialty dining, you'll manage those reservations there too."
    • I have not made the final payment but went to the Princess app and made our dining reservations. Can I or can't I make dining reservations now for a cruise in October? If not, why did it let me?

  2. I'm confused. When we sailed with Princess in 2019 we selected a table for 8 and we sat with the same people every night. Now it appears we can only select to dine alone or dine with others. If we select "dine with others" will we be seated with the same people every night or just randomly seated each night? We enjoy meeting new people when we cruise but we don't want to meet different people every night.

  3. That's a shame. In our 25+ years of cruising (until COVID hit) we met so many friends from the U.,S. and many other countries. We still actively communicate and visit them and they visit us. Why couldn't Princess just leave everything alone. Not everyone is big into apps or dining either with strangers every night or alone. This may be our last Princess cruise if I see that other cruise lines still have traditional dining. Thanks for answering me, however.

  4. Maybe this has been already answered in the 55 pages of comments in this thread. We are sailing on the Enchanted Princess next year. On past cruises -and I hope on this coming cruise- we like to have dinner at a set & same time every night, at the same table, with the same people as on the 1st night, and hopefully with the same waiter. I don't see this available anymore. We have no interest in meeting new people every night.

  5. Not related to the cruise mentioned, but it has been over 3 months since our cruise was canceled and I have not received a refund of the deposit. I requested a refund back to my credit card and not a FCC. Anyone waiting over 3 months ?

  6. Has HAL officially canceled their 2021 Fall Canada/New England cruises?? We are booked on one which I assume is canceled after the order by Canada but I've received no notification and our reservation on the HAL website shows everything is OK. I do notice that if searching for the same cruise on the HAL web site it is showing no Canada/New England cruises for 2021.

  7. My travel agent has contacted Princess twice with no luck. It doesn't matter if the FCC credit is double my deposit. EVERYONE who elected to get an FCC got a double amount. Not EVERYONE had onboard credits gained by booking a future cruise (that was subsequently canceled) with an onboard Princess representative. I was told by that rep that we would get those credits and I expect Princess to provide them.

  8. So are you all saying that the onboard credits for a future cruise that you booked with an onboard Princess cruise sales agent did in fact carry over to your new cruise ??? Mine haven't. The excuse I got was that I took advantage of the double deposit credit to a new cruise made us ineligible for carrying the onboard credits to the new cruise. That's BS. Everyone who had paid a deposit on a Princess cruiser that was canceled got the option of a double FCC or a refund. Our onboard credit was for booking with their agent while on another Princess cruise, so not a credit available to everyone. I'm unhappy to say the very least.

  9. There seems to be conflicting information about the onboard credits. I will phone Princess and find out. It would be terribly unfair if they took away the onboard credits we earned by booking a cruise with their onboard sales rep. These particular OB credits should not in any way be tied to the double deposit credits as everyone who had made a deposit and chooses to keep the deposit active is getting the double offer.

  10. We booked a Sept. 2020 cruise while onboard a cruise in Oct. 2019. I paid $100 per person FCD to the onboard sales person which was applied to the Sept. 2020 cruise. In addition as a benefit of booking while on the previous cruise we were to receive $100 each in onboard credits on the new cruise. The Sep;t. 2020 cruise was cancelled and the letter I received from Princess stated we could apply the deposit to a new cruise and it would be doubled. We booked a Sept. 2021 cruise. I see the $200 each in deposits now show. But  I believe the onboard credits that we given for the Sept. 2020 cruise should be transferred to the Sept. 2021 cruise but I'm not showing that they have. Has anyone else had a similar situation with onboard credits from Princess (not from a TA) that have or have not been transferred to a new cruise? Thanks for any advice !

  11. We had a cruise already booked for October 2018 and I've been watching the fares pretty often in the event of a fare drop or promotion. . Got an e-mail about the Sip & Sail. Checked the fare and it's gone up $600 per person. So Princess is certainly recouping the cost of this drink package.

  12. We had A750 on the Crown last month. It was the best suite we've ever had on Princess. As others mentioned, the balcony is oversized, but the best part of being in that suite is that you can see the views of both the starboard and port sides of the ship- no running to a top deck to view a glacier or some other land feature. Some reviews have mentioned noise from a vent that runs up the outside between A750 and A751. It was not bothersome at all and I really wouldn't have even noticed it had I not read about it here. What you will definitely hear, however, is the rushing water created by the wake of the ship. It's almost like standing next to Niagara Falls. We actually liked it. Despite being at the back of the ship, we experienced no vibration; however, we were on a very high deck (12). When we were in the dining room, located at the back of the ship on deck 5, we did notice some vibration.

  13. We got onboard in Rio on Wednesday and have nothing but problems, one very tragic.

On Thursday afternoon a public announcement was made that there was a sick passenger who needed blood. They were soliciting passengers to give blood. About 4 p.m. on Thursday the captain announced that the passenger was in critical condition and that he would have to be evacuated. We had a 360 turn and headed north again. A Brazilian coast guard helicopter was suppose to land on the ship and evacuate the passenger. However, the weather turned poor and an airlift was not possible. We proceeded north for about 2 hours towards a small port where a boat met us and took the passenger to a local hospital. The captain later announced that he passed away shortly thereafter. We then resumed our trip towards Buenos Aires. Yesterday morning the captain announced we would not arrive Buenos Aires until about 6 p.m. tonight- he never explained why what appeared to be a 4 hour diversion was resulting in a 10 hr. delay arriving Buenos Aires.

Then at about 2:00 this afternoon we were advised that due to strong winds there were low water levels of water in the port and we cannot dock. The captain has now just announced that the port has advised that we cannot proceed towards the dock until 9:00 p.m. with an estimated arrival of 1:00 a.m. No one can disembark until tomorrow morning. We are presently anchored in the channel 2 hrs. from the port.

There is an additional problem with the arrival at Montevideo. Due to our delay we have lost our berth space at Monevideo. We are going to leave Buenos Aires at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow and drop anchor off Montevideo and spend the day anchored until about 6:30 p.m. on Monday. We will then stop long enough to refuel and load provisions and then plan to leave Montevideo at about midnight Monday. The stop at Montevideo is mandatory to refuel and provision. The captain said we can get off for a short time only.

The captain has given no further information about our arrivals and tours at the ports of Falkland Islands, Ushuia or Porte Arenas.

Please pardon any typos. I trying to type this as fast as possible as I have to pay by the minute for internet.

  14. Murphey,

We have been on the Ocean Princess and have taken several Azamara cruises (which are also the old "R" class ships). We have had Mini's on Deck 8 every time and always mid-ship. I can honestly say that we did not experience any deck noise from above on any of our cruises. No chair dragging or anything else and I'm a pretty light sleeper. In fact, we recently put FCC's down on another mid-ship Mini on Deck 8 for the PP in 2018.

Maybe there are some Cabin Reviews here on CC that you could check?

    Hope this helps.

Has anyone else had a mini-suite mid-deck 8 on this ship and can confirm there is no noise day or night from the sports deck above? It seems to be a big problem on every other ship which makes me hesitant about that location on this ship.

  15. The mini's a wonderful on this little ship. Their configuration is more square than the mini's on the larger ships so they feel larger. the biggest drawback is that the minis are directly below some of the noisiest public areas so if you are a light sleeper they may not be for you. The balcony cabins are a bit smaller than the balconies on the larger Princess ships. However, balconies on the aft facing cabins are large but they are cut into the haul so you don't really have much of an ocean view unless standing at the rail. I prefer the mini suites but I always take ear plugs to cut out noise while I'm sleeping.

Help !! Booking a mini-suite and trying to avoid noise from above. I'm looking at 8048, 8050, 8051 and 8053. These seem to be below the entrance to the Panorama Buffet, but not directly under the busiest area. Would these cabins be less noisy than those mid-ship and directly under the pool area? Any downsides to these mini-suites? Also, you say the "aft facing cabins are vut into the hull ...". Are you speaking about 8066 and 8069 ?
