  1. We booked our cruise during the time that travelzoo supposedly partnered with our on line TA. A few weeks after we booked, we got an email saying that instead of getting the UDP etc.

    We got this email:

    Good Afternoon,

Thank you for recently booking your upcoming sailing on the Norwegian Getaway with XXXXXXXXXXXXXX. We are very happy you were able to take advantage of this very rare opportunity. With this particular promotion, you were set to receive Pre-paid gratuities for the first two guests in your cabin, $150 shipboard credit for the cabin, an Ultimate Dining Package for the cabin, and an additional $100 shipboard credit for the cabin on top of everything else. Because of this particular promotion being as rare as it was, we wanted to let you know the entire package totals an amount of $650 – which means it will appear as complete shipboard credit for the cabin – you may use the funds as you wish within the guidelines of normal spending accounts with Norwegian.

Please note: of the $650 shipboard credit for the cabin you will receive from this promotion, $150 of it is NOT eligible to be used towards your gratuities for the cabin. Please keep this in mind when you board and see your account summary that you must allocate your gratuities appropriately.

I wonder how many others who booked this deal will be using the obc for other things than the UDP. The specialty restaurants may not be as crazy as you might expect.

  2. To the op........

When I posted earlier today, I did not realize that you were getting married the day prior to the cruise and that it was your honeymoon.

I apologize on not reading your entire post correctly.

If I were you, I would use this fact as your biggest asset. No one in their right mind wants to see newlyweds miss their honeymoon and you should let everyone along the way know this fact. You and your bride should flash your wedding rings to the check in person at the airport, and then to the steward on the plane. When you land in Mia, again to the gate agent when you get off the ramp, and to the agent in the airport who works for NCL, letting everyone along the way know that you are on your honeymoon and a tight schedule to catch the ship.

This will help move you along to get on the ship.

    You should be fine.

Good luck with the wedding and have a glass of champagne for me.

  3. Just an FYI....

This past week 1300 people missed the Getaway because of weather and missed flights.

Your flight sounds to stressful to me.

For this reason, we always arrive the day before our cruise so we can get out of what my wife calls "airport mode" and relax the night before the cruise in the city where it departs.

All this planning for a cruise is useless if you miss the boat.

It's worth taking an extra day to ensure you make it.

  4. Great review so far.

Keep it coming....lol...I know how much time it takes to put it together, so we'll be patient.

I do have a question. ?.....do the 3 free dining rooms have different menus on the same night? On the dalies that were posted, it lists the Tropicana restaurant separately from the other 2.

    Thanks for posting.

  5. They need to call it "Small Caribbean Clawless Wannabe Lobster" night.

I can understand the people who have never eaten a Maine Lobster thinking that the stuff they serve on board is lobster. But once you eat a fresh Maine or even a Canadian lobster, you wont be wanting to eat these again.

  6. Excellent idea. Lox and cream cheese on a pretzel roll, anyone?

I will have to go to the pretzel bakery tomorrow and get some real philly soft pretzels to go with the lox and cream cheese......brilliant idea.

A pretzel and a bagel are basically made from the same things anyway.

  7. For me, I'm always looking for the smoked salmon aka "lox", that's harder to find and much tastier. Many times it is a by request item. i've always found it to be good on board.

BTW-sailing the Pearl in June, any salmon available?

I agree 100 %, I'll take lox and a bagel over lobster any day of the week. A lot easier to eat with no shells. The hardest part on all of the cruise ships is getting a good bagel to go with the lox and cream cheese. Most times I prefer to eat it with the fresh little rolls instead. Some tomato, onion, and swiss cheese makes it.

    PS.....forget the overdone lobsters.

  8. Best idea in my eyes if you don't want to drink the ship's water, which is pretty good, by the way, is to stop at a cvs or supermarket on the way to the ship and buy a 24 pack of spring water. When you get to the port just slap a luggage tag on the side of the 24 pack and it will get to your room no problem. You will pay under $4 for 24 bottles in stead of $4 for 1 bottle on board. Pretty simple.

  9. First, we don't have the option of buying the drink package on our upcoming cruise, as ncl has a black out period for us spring breakers...my wife and I just turned 50 this year....lol.

We will be in port 3 days, so really we have only 4 days on board. We had a unlimited drink package on our last celebrity cruise and the 6 of us really enjoyed getting adult beverages and not having to worry about the bills. That being said, I believe I will have a bill of a few hundred dollars for beer etc while on board. You have to be resolved that you will be billed at the end of the cruise and ready for the bill. Remember my saying ...."were on vacation".

  10. Would Love Some! As you are having record lows/snow this year, we are experiencing record Highs!! 15 days straight 85*+!! Can't wait for ocean breezes on my balcony!!

How far are you from Delray Beach?

My family lives there, and I will send the snow to them for you.

  11. If anyone wants some snow in other parts of the country where you have never had any, then I would be glad to send you some. We are going to get another FOOT of snow in Philly and we have had our fair share here this year already.

I think I could UPS you some if you want it.
