Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. The suite restaurant is a separate entity to the MDR, it is the Bella Vista restaurant located deck 8 forward, purely for suite guests only, it is amazing, an open kitchen and great service, they have open sitting for breakfast and lunch and set seating for dinner with allocated tables which you can roughly chose on the first day, your booking should show which sitting you are / requested. Room service is included for all meals, you place it with the room service number and the butler will it to your room for you. Have to say breakfast is great, so well presented, table cloth on tray with rose! Not sure about any mini bar in the room, depending on what drinks package you have the butler can provide soft drinks, water etc and will also bring acholic cocktails if you want them to the suite. . Ask away for any other questions.
  2. The suite itself is fantastic, the best shower I have ever had, at sea or on land, a few design flaws with regard to privacy though. I would say the standout feature is the balcony though, which extends out over the bridge wings. This should be the best suite on the ship, but I would never chose this cabin again due to noise. Suite perks include Premium Drinks Package (UK market) or whatever its called this week, J2 is printed on the seapass cards which is what the bars look for when ordering. suite sun deck which very few people go to so always lovely and quiet with its own jacuzzi, and Bella Vista restaurant which is a tranquil oasis compared to other dining venues. You also get a day pass to the thermal area with the suite. I love Costa but not that cabin ever again!
  3. Just back having sailed on both Toscana and Smeralda, avoid all cabins on deck 17 forward. They are a nightmare due sun deck above, take your pic from joggers at all times of the night running above your head, teenagers swinging and falling out the hammocks banging on the deck in the process at 0200, or Costa themselves moving all the furniture starting at 0500 each morning, then using industrial cleaning machines to clean deck which makes the ceiling vibrate, then the placing of sun chairs, this continues until 0700 when if you're lucky it might go quiet for while, joggers excepted. Costa are uninterested in any of this and responded with the usual "we've not had this complaint before" despite myself previously reporting it. I tried to swap cabins but there were no suites left to swap into so had to accept the sleep depraved nights. Never willingly chose these cabins if you like your sleep. This applies to all cabins on deck 17 forward, especially the forward facing balconies/suites.
  4. I know Costa Cruises don't get that good representation on this site so thought I would add my positive experience I have just had onboard their flagship, Costa Toscana. Am posting this here as well in case people don't bother reading the review section of this site. Just back from a great week on Costa Toscana, Booked this cruise whilst onboard the same ship when it was in Dubai. Booking onboard gives you a discount off the cruise fare price, rather than Onboard Spend which other cruise lines offer. At the moment it is 10% so can be a quite significant discount. With Costa on most of their cruises you can board at any point it stops at generally, so I chose to board in Marseille, as flights were best suited for this board point for me. One benefit of this is that there are not usually thousands of people all trying to board the same day, yes the main board ports will be busier of course. When I arrived there were no queues and I was processed very quickly and was onboard within 10 minutes of arriving at the port. The lifeboat drill can now be done electronically via the app as with most other cruise lines. Toscana is the latest delivery and Costa's Flagship in the fleet, she is stunning from the outside to look at with a wrap round promenade deck which you can walk all the way round. There is lots of outside seating areas including some very quiet and secluded ones towards the bow. At the back is the Infinity bar which is just the best bar to relax and watch the sea go by. Internally the ship décor is a big step change from the older Costa ships, Toscana I would describe as more beach inspired with bright vibrant colours, don't expect subtle colours on the stair cases or in the cabins. Without fail, all the staff I came into contact with were genuinely friendly, and were always happy to chat when they had time. All the staff speak English and Costa have a Language Host onboard who can help with the more complicated queries for those that the bar or waiting staff can't help with. I would say that it is very impressive for most of the bar and waiting staff to speak their native language, plus English, and enough Italian, Spanish and French to get by with for their positions. Toscana has a suite restaurant which was outstanding, sometimes the menu gets a bit lost in translation but the ambiance, service and food were superb. The main shows are in the Colosseo which is over 3 decks in the middle of the ship, this seems a victim of its own success and in order to get a good seat you need to be there at least 30 minutes before the show starts, however the shows put on there are fantastic, very energetic and the staging / effects of the venue are outstanding. The suite itself was fantastic, a separate lounge and bedroom area that could be shut off with sliding doors to make 2 separate areas. The lounge has a single sofa with can be made into a single bed using the sofa as the bed, no pull out bed, or metal bars to deal with. Above it is a upper berth which looked a good size. Lots of wardrobe space and 2 balconies. Must admit I had breakfast on the balcony every day, one thing that Costa excels at is room service breakfast. Very well presented and freshly cooked. Had a thoroughly good time on Toscana and can't wait for my next Costa cruise!
  5. I tweeted PO Cruises and they checked for me and said that online check-in was not available as this was a Jet2 charter operated on their behalf. I have no issue with this, apart from being misled into thinking we could check-in, but more the fact that it also means I cannot pre-order any of Jet2 hot meals for either flight.
  6. I'm still unable to check in, not sure if it's relevant but I'm on a Gatwick Tenerife flight, fly 04th November.
  7. Thanks for link, still get same response, when is your flight with Jet2? Wonder if it will correct itself, I'm flying 04th November.
  8. I have a PO flycruise booked for Azura on the 04th November 2022. Today received an email from PO reminding us to do online check-in, have followed the link, but the Jet2 page it directs to errors after inputting details saying "login error". Has anyone else managed to get themselves checked in? It is also on that page that it appears you can book meals for the flights, something which I am keen to do, but currently unable. Any help would be much appreciated.
  9. I totally agree, Azamara are terrible, I contracted Covid the day before cruise, but despite feeling rough knew I should contact them to cancel, I held for 2 hours before getting cut off, then unable to even get to the holding stage. I have also used their web contact form, tweeted them, and my friends onboard have informed them, I have emailed the ship but not a single person has had the decency to respond. I am beyond appalled by their lack of customer service. Like a previous poster has stated their recorded information is out of date, talks about Royal Caribbean and the 3 Azamara ships, does not provide much confidence in their organisation. It's now day 4 of trying to contact them, the last thing I feel like doing with Covid, does anyone else have any advice how to contact them.
  10. I have to agree with the original poster, I was also in the same situation, downgraded from a 2 Bedroom Grand Suite to a JS, with full suite privileges. Every day I had drinks wrongly charged in the SL to my Diamond Drinks coupons, and then charged for drinks when out and about on the ship when I wanted to use the Diamond Drinks as was informed I didn't have any DD left!. It was annoying to have to go to the Concierge to get the drinks removed from my account. I also think Royal have made a big mess of the SL drinks, if you are in a suite and therefore in the Suite Neighbourhood, especially on Wonder, make it free drinks 1100-2300 including on the Suite Sun Deck for all drinks. As it stands you can have free "basic drinks, beer, wine, soft drinks" in SL 1100-2300, but during the Happy hour, 1700-2000 its any drink, but on the Suite Sun Deck chargeable at all times.
