Just got off the Vista this morning with our 19 month old, had to book a Carnival excursion to take her off the ship.
May I ask what port you’re referring to? It may differ by ports. Thanks!

Thanks for the info! Hope this changes by May!

I feel like it’s completely unnecessary too. Really, we just want to go to the beach in Grand Turk and the pool at Amber cove. My kids are young and I don’t think spending hundreds on tours they won’t care about is something we want to do. We could easily socially distance at the beach and keep to ourselves, more so than we could on a tour.
I read that Carnival is leaving it up to the individual ports, so I looked up ours ( Grand Turk, San Juan, and Amber Cove ) and they all say that kids under 12 are exempt.

Well since it seems to be that it’s up to the individual ports, I checked each one and they all say that unvaccinated travelers under 12 are exempt, so that means we can take the baby off the ship.
Thanks for your help everyone!

Haven’t sailed yet but just booked a cruise with our 20 month old and the emails that came along with our booking reminded us that we can only book Carnival excursions with unvaccinated guests, ie our daughter!
I’m hoping that will change by our cruise in May!

Hi everyone! I know these protocols change a lot according to Covid guidelines, but I’m having a hard time finding RECENT rules about taking infants ashore. I read that you have to be on a Carnival excursion, is this true? Has anyone been on the Eastern Caribbean itinerary ( San Juan, Amber Cove, Grand Turk) and been able to bring an infant ashore without an excursion? Thanks!

That sounds very tasty! As others have mentioned, it would be nice to have more late night options for snacks.
I heard somewhere that there is a “Grab and Go” section at the Java Blue Cafe where you can get packaged fruit plates and other snacks for free. Can you confirm that if you happen to go by there? Thanks! Have a great time!

Just got back from my Gem sailing, I prepaid the parking at the South Boston Waterfront Transportation lot, and paid $154 for the week!! I was pleasantly surprised. There is a shuttle bus to the ship, very easy.

Does anyone have photos of the cakes in the bakery? It’s my daughters birthday and I don’t want the cake they give you when you buy the cabin decorations, I’ve heard it’s not so good. I’ve had really good cakes from Carnival’s bakery, and I was hoping NCL had something similar.
thanks,

I see what you mean, Bob. It looks like if you take the path to the left it goes through the trails in the park over to the shore. That’s a cute little beach there, and there’s a blue hole with a platform to jump off. When we went, we came in through Tom Moore’s Tavern and took the trails past all the caves to the blue holes and that little beach, then came out by the gas station. Have fun!

Yes, you can definitely walk, it’s not far. There’s a gas station across the street from the entrance to the trail to the Blue Hole. Have fun!

I've never done more than 5-6 hour parking there so can't say for sure, but Groupon is usually reliable
Thanks!

I can also vouch for that garage, but keep it a secret, please! It's one of the few bargains we have to park in the city!
I’m a bit wary that the price is too good to be true. Are you sure they do long term (weekly) parking? I hope that price is really for a week.
-
I was checking Groupon and there is a place called Necco Street garage that is $76 for the week (!!) has anyone heard of it, or had any experience with this garage?
Its about a mile away, but I can drop off my luggage then park the car and walk back.
thanks,

Happy Anniversary! Hope you have a great time! We are also on the May 31st sailing, starting to pack now!

Those TripAdvisor reviews are probably going to be as recent as you can get right now since the 2018 cruise season begins this coming week and the 2018 beach season not for another month.
The X20 waterpark opened there late last year but I don’t recall anyone reviewing it here. Don’t know its status for this year.
Thanks!

I’m bumping this thread because we are going to Bermuda in June and would love to go to Daniel’s Head. However, I’ve read a lot about the condition of this beach, broken glass, etc and would like to hear from someone who has gone recently.
Thanks,

Don't try to save
multiple
seats in the theater.
I hate this too, and I see people holding whole rows sometimes, and no one ever challenges them on it when they try to sit there and get chased away! And the employees don't do anything either!

Hi, We are leaving in 5 days on the Anthem of the Seas, 1st cruise, our cabin is on Deck 6 towards the back of the ship. We booked late and that was the only room left with a balcony with an obstructed view. Is Deck 6 usually a quiet deck, was this a good choice? Thank you, we cannot wait for Saturday!
Hi! We have the exact 2 cabins as you on our May sailing. I was wondering how it went for you? How was the smoke? Hope you had a great time!
Thanks,
Christina

That is true about thin crust vs Chicago style, but the quality of the pizza chains and most cruise line pizza is comparable to frozen mass produced pizza.

As a native New Yorker I can attest that it is not real pizza, it’s what everyone outside of NY calls pizza. My daughter compares it to Chuck E Cheese pizza. If you haven’t grown up in NY, you’ll like it though. It’s not bad. I’m just partial to thin crust, which is why I think Carnival’s pizza is the best cruise pizza.
Your kids will like it though, I’m sure. Have a great trip!

P.S. my daughter read this and told me I sound like a rude New Yorker. I don’t mean to sound like a pizza snob, I’m sorry. ( But we really DO have the best pizza.)
