  1. We stayed in 4573 on the Jewel twice - once on a very tight budget and once booked last minute. It was one of the quietest cabins I've ever had. We were down the hall from the medical office and backed to crew quarters. The only times we heard anything were port days when people were in the hallways while getting on or off the ship. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

  2. I can't answer all your questions, but yes the wifi is expensive and hit-or-miss. We always purchase it anyway as my DH owns a business and must have access. It depends if you just need to keep in touch or must be reachable. In ports you can go to a cafe, restaurant, etc. and use their wifi. If you just want to keep in touch, that might be a good option for you.

  3. We've sailed both lines and prefer NCL. One of the main reasons why is that we like dining in the specialty restaurants. On Carnival there is one - the steakhouse. On NCL there are several choices. We like having more options. But in general, they're more alike than different. We enjoyed our cruise on the Dawn, since we really like the smaller, more intimate ships. I haven't read too many negatives about the ship and didn't have any problems or complaints. It sounds like a great itinerary - you should go!

  4. Not so....they have designated smoking areas in the Atlantic City casinos. You can't smoke just anywhere while playing.

Theoretically yes, but it's as smokey in the non-smoking areas as it is in the designated smoking areas. And it only applies to slots and poker rooms. There might be a non-smoking table game, but it's sandwiched between two smoking tables and behind another. So for all intents and purposes, there are no smoke-free areas in AC casinos.

  5. Actually most land based casinos do NOT allow smoking at all. None in AC, or Maryland do I know that for a fact. Also on the cruise ship smoking is allowed for ACTIVE PLAYERS ONLY. It is not an open smoking area.

All Atlantic City Casinos allow smoking. There was a brief period where they tried to limit it to enclosed smoking areas, but they lost money and now are ALL smoking. I was just there last week and visit regularly.

  6. Most of the mainstream cruise ships allow smoking in the casinos, just like most US land-based casinos. There used to be other indoor smoking areas, but since they've restricted indoor smoking to the casinos, the casinos are pretty smokey. Many people come in just to smoke. You can visit the casino and gauge for yourself how much of a deterrent it is. There are many, many other things to do on cruises, so I wouldn't let it stop me from cruising.

  7. We booked a picture window but only thing that's bugging me it's our first 10 day cruise and not having a balcony😣 But we are trying to cut costs because daughter is getting married next summer☺

We did a 10-day in an inside once because we booked so late. It was fine - we just were out & about on the ship more than in our cabin. You'll have a great time anyway! :)

  8. Wow! That's unbelievable!!!! Was there a lot of upset people as a result?

Maybe I should have stuck with DCL that week.lol

Ugh, this is bad news. I planned an entire day at Disney World around that game last year. I have never missed it.

Our cruise is Thanksgiving week, but the following week we will be in WDW, so won't even be home til 12/3.. recording it wouldn't help at that point. No way I could go that long without knowing the outcome.

There were many, many people upset. The game was in Miami that year and we embarked in Miami. Most people assumed they'd show the game in the sports bar, but they didn't carry it. We learned that if there is something important to us, we need to check to see if it's available to watch on board or change our plans. You can always check scores on the internet, but not the same thing I know.

  9. We sailed during the Superbowl a few years ago. Not only did they not show it anywhere, it wasn't even available on their television channels. If you really, really care about watching something, either record it and watch it when you get home or change your cruise. Don't count on their showing the game. :(

  10. Considering booking an aft balcony on the Jade for a March 2019 cruise. There are only 3 left. It's a fairly port-intensive cruise (6 ports in 10 days). Is it worth the extra $400 over the cost of a regular balcony? Appreciate any opinions. Thanks!

  11. We are sailing on the Oasis, which docks at Crown Bay. Isn't that a 20 minute taxi ride to reach the tram stop for Paradise Point?

Paradise Point is right across the street from Havensight Mall at the cruise port. If you walk to the road, you'll see a ticket booth where you purchase tickets. You might be thinking of Mountain Top which is about 20 minutes away.
