Not to sound cheap......lol.....but isn't the elevator free for senior citizens in case we don't have change?
Ellen:)

Yes, you can use the obc for the gratuities. It will be deducted daily.

I am not beachchairs, but the way to find out about the availability is to go onto the Oceania boards and put in a "fake" booking. All the catagories come up, and you just go into each category and it will pull up available cabins. It only shows up to 7 at a time.

I see that you are in Canada. Friends of ours who we are traveling with and who also live in Canada, had to sign for them. They were not put into the regular mail like ours in the US. Make sure you don't have a paper by your front door saying they tried to deliver them.

We are on Marina Nov. 4, and received ours about 2 weeks ago.

Hi Margbem,
I just wanted to tell you that we changed our transfer to lisbontaxis with Pedro.
We wanted a later pick up after our arrival as we didn't want to get to the cruise terminal too early and Pedro was very accommodating.
Thanks for your recommendation.

We will be arriving at the Lisbon airport at 8:15 a.m. We are having a private driver pick us up. The sailing time on the Marina is set for 5:00. How early will the porters collect our luggage from us at the pier? Should we hang out at the airport until around 11:00? We would like to be able to walk into the downtown area before boarding the ship.
Thank you.

Hi Margbem,
Thank you for the information. We are 2 couples and just booked with Sun transfers at 32 euro's for an 8 passenger private van. A very good price. I agree that we would rather have someone waiting for us with a sign then having to go to arrivals upstairs, and then trying to get a taxi van for 4 that would also fit all our luggage. This comes out to about 10.25 US pp. Cheap enough and a larger vehicle.

Can anyone recommend a reasonable private car service from the Lisbon airport to the Santa Apolonia cruise terminal?
Thank you.

We are flying United out of Atlanta to Newark, and Newark to Lisbon. Home on Delta from Rio. We did do a deviation, and sail this November.

Hi Loraine,
Sorry I didn't answer you before but I guess I didn't get back to this thread.
Thanks for the information about the bargaining. We are pretty good at it, but good to know we shouldn't pay more than 1/3.
I don't know how brave I would be now to have my picture taken again with a cobra, but one never knows........lol....I'll let you know when I get back.

Hi Stan and Jim,
Thanks for my first laugh of the day........

Just a follow up. I actually called Oceania today and questioned them about the pre-order of the soda. Had a great representative Mikela, who took down my request, and said there was no charge.

Hi Jim and Stan,
Thank you so much for the explanation. Will be curious to hear back from our TA about the charges if any.

We are in an inside cabin for our transatlantic cruise in Nov. I sent an e-mail to our TA this morning requesting caffeine free diet coke, as my husband is diabetic, and she told me there is a charge to pre order if you are in an inside cabin.
Do you know if this is true? She was e-mailing Oceania to get me a price list.
Thank you.

Thank you all for your suggestions, and Loraine, thanks for the information about viber. My husband has a smart phone as well as our children, and we will certainly look into that app.

Just wondering if anyone has used an international phone while on board the Marina, how it worked, and if it was more economical than using the internet on the ship. We will be on the 16 day crossing in November. By the way, we have Verizon wireless service.
Thank you.

Hi Loraine,
When I just read your post, I laughed. We were in Tangiers about 18 years ago, and also paid to have a cobra put around my neck, and I have the picture to prove it. I think the cost was so that they would let my husband take a picture.
Yes, the vendors are very aggressive, but we will be with a private guide who hopefully will help keep them away from us. Looking forward to being there in November.

Are you sure it is only a 9-10 hr drive. We live in Peachtree City, and driving to Port Canaveral takes us anywhere from 8.5 hrs-10 hrs depending on the traffic and we only stop for pit stops. I believe FLL is about 3 hours further. I would think a 12 hr car ride after a cruise is pushing it. Can you stop overnight somewhere along the way home?

Hi MADflyer and Irina,
Thank you both for your information. I have used Sun transfers elsewhere, but if the taxi's are metered and can hold 4 passengers with luggage, then that is the way we will go. I really appreciate all your explanations MADflyer.
By the way, will be in Lugano, Lucern and Zurich next May ,MADflyer.

We will be 2 couples arriving at the Lisbon airport and will need to take a taxi to the cruise port. Can anyone tell me if their taxi's can hold 4 people with luggage, and what the approximate cost would be . If not, can you recommend a reliable car service.
Thank you.

We went to Doctor's Cave beach in Montego Bay.

We are also looking for something else to see as well, as we have been to all of the same places as you. I believe that Messina is only a port area, and there is really nothing to see there.
