  1. We live in Wales which is in the EU and I have never heard of any law which requires me to carry official ID at all times. UK citizens don't have ID cards and not everyone has a passport or driving licence. We take a copy of our passports in case we are stranded anywhere but our passports stay safely in the cabin safe. I would be scared of losing them.

  2. Last time we cruised we hired a car and toured the area around Civitaveccia instead of visiting Rome. On our way back to the port we saw a large shopping complex. We didn't have long to shop but I remember it had a huge shoe shop. We would like to go there again but wondered if it is possible to get there by bus? Anyone have any advice please?

  3. We didn't go to any shows. We had My time dining and could never get a table before 9pm so usually missed the theatre. Can't say we saw anything advertised that would be worth missing dinner for. No named guest entertainers, or none I had heard of. We tendered at Kotor and Mykonos. You get numbered tickets from the theatre. Tours get off first. The tender is about a ten minute trip. We had been to several ports before so just wandered the town and had a drink while using free wifi. In Piraeus (Athens) we did the ship excursion to the Corinth canal and museum which was very interesting. In Kotor you can climb the old town walls which is really climbing a mountain! We did this last time and the view is spectacular but it's a long climb. In Argostoli there is a round the island tour which visits some caves, or you could take the ferry over the bay to Lassi. If you are looking for Greek souvenirs be aware that Mykonos was much dearer than Corfu or Argostoli for most things like olive oil soap or ouzo.

  4. Another vote here for Thenford Grey. An absolute gentleman. We visited St Kitts with friends and it was her 60th birthday. Mr Grey decorated his bus especially for her. We went to the fort, the batik factory, the cricket ground and all round the island. Stopped at the Marriott and we could have stayed at the beach and been collected later but we all voted to go back into town instead. Nothing was too much trouble for him. He made sure we all had a good time.

  5. Package prices for some European cruises are priced with the 18% gratuity included, so that's why the $35 per day package ended up at $42.

I did wonder if accounted for the different prices. Guessed it was either that or our VAT which is added on some cruises. We didn't sign for drinks so there was no slip to see the breakdown. How is the gratuity added to the package in the U.S.? Is it included in the package but shown separately on the bill?

  6. The package prices on Splendour last week were more expensive than in the PDF posted. We had the select package included in our booking but it is $42 per day, not $35. It didn't include cocktails which were $14 each with a Cocktail of the day being $9. We upgraded one package to Premium which cost an extra $15 per day ($57). The Ultimate package was $65 per day, I think. Also Select didn't include bottled water, according to some bartenders.

  7. The taxi transfer was booked by our travel agent. We spoke to our on board customer services who say there is storage at the port so we have emailed to try to postpone the taxi until 2pm. Storage cost is 4 euros per case.

  8. We are disembarking our ship in Venice and have an airport transfer booked at 11am but our flight isn't until 5pm. Is there anywhere we can store our luggage and spend some time in Venice?

  9. ASDA, in that case buy it on the ship. The prices are the same as supermarkets. Do not have the hassle of carrying the bottle for the same price.

You can't buy it onboard if you are cruising from Genoa to Venice as the duty free shop is closed. Don't know if you are allowed to buy a whole bottle from the bars. Best bet is when you get to Genoa go into town and find a supermarket.

  10. The train to Rome is approx £10 and that includes the Metro. We've caught trains to Rome, Pompeii, Florence and Sorrento with no problems. In our experience the trains leave and arrive exactly at the times on the timetable. I was nervous the first time but we allowed time to catch a later train if we missed the earlier one if you understand what I mean.
