  1. Thanks everyone for your replies. He is high functioning. Just has lost some reasoning abilities.

Example: When it's time to get ready for dinner, chances are he'll simply walk out the door to the dining room without waiting for everyone to be ready. There will be two others along to help keep track...just checking for other ideas.

    thanks all!

  2. Does anyone have experience using this on a ship? Trying to figure out what may help my sister keep track of her husband (who has some dementia) on an upcoming cruise. Just in case he leaves the room before she knows it. He always carries his phone, but would have that service turned off.

I just don't know that it would be helpful with the multiple decks.

Any other ideas would be welcome.

  3. Thanks much.

I like insuremytrip.com because it lets you compare policies side by side and eliminate down to the few that work best. (Maybe the others do that too...I haven't used them yet)

Medical evacuation and costs along with weather delays will be the big concerns for them. They'll be cruising in January, coming from Minnesota. (yep, a day early)

    thanks!

  4. Thank you for such quick responses!!!

Taking a cruise is my on my brother-in-law's "Bucket List"...and I want to make sure they are covered if he needs medical help while they're gone.

My sister was nervous about cruising, til I pointed out Bahamas cruises that stick a little closer to the states...so I think I have her talked into it!!!

Just trying to think about anything else to help them. Cause you know the things you worry about never happen....it's always the surprise stuff!!!

    thanks!!

  5. Hello,

A relative is interested in cruising. They are on full disability/medicare now. Is there any conflict/issues between with potential medicare and trip insurance payouts? (We will make sure they get pre-existing conditions waived.)

I know most trip policies are second in line for paying. Just want to make sure there is not a problem working with medicare...or how that works.

    thanks much,

    Peg

  6. Sorry, but it's too way much for your daughter to miss. Remember: not only is she missing lectures, but potential quizzes and tests. Some professors don't allow you to make them up. Her grades could really suffer. And the studying she'd have to do to "catch up" when she got back could be really overwhelming.

My daughter had to miss one day so we could fly down a day before our cruise. We were very nervous about her assignments, and the possibility of a test that day. Luckily, when the class schedule came out, there were no tests...and she made arrangements to get copies of notes from others in the class.

If there was a test scheduled, I was planning to pay the change fee and have her fly in late that night, AFTER the test. She can't just get a "0" - to big of an impact on the gradepoint.

How about in January when she's still on winter break? Then she'll be between semesters...and no chance of homework!
