OK, we now know more. The train drivers' union has announced a one-day strike on Saturday 30 July at eight train operating companies. These include Southeastern, which is the company that operates trains to/from Dover.

It's a common feature of these strikes that there will knock-on effects for the next day, particularly in the morning, because trains are out of position at the beginning of service due to the strike. If I were in your position, as you are heading straight to the airport from Dover on the Sunday morning, I would now be looking either for a ship's transfer or a car transfer service.

It would be a good idea to know what the cancellation options are for either alternative, because of course there remains a decent chance that the strike will get called off between now and then.

Thanks for this. We are going the opposite way -- London to Dover on 7/31. I just booked Carnival transfers from Victoria Station just in case. We can cancel them within 24 hours if the strike is called off.

I was able to get tickets for both the lecture and House by logging in about 15 minutes before midnight Amsterdam time for August. Hope you also got them. It was July 4th at 2:45 p.m. in Tucson, AZ US.

I did! We got 11:30. We have also booked a canal cruise at 10:00 and the Van Gogh Museum for 1:30. Going to be a busy day!

Sorry if this was already posted (I went through multiple pages and couldn’t find this info)….

We leave on the Infinity in 3 wks. Planning to order the tests through Celebrity. It says on BinaxNow website you can add a dependent to your account once you have created. Does anyone know how this would work with my 9 year old son? Can we be under the same account? Also, how do they administer the tests then, at same time or log back out and in when I’m done, etc? Thx in advance

You can create your account anytime at https://www.mynavica.abbott. After logging in, to the left, there is an option to add a managed profile. Click on this and add your son. When you are ready to test, you will be asked to logon and then select the profile to be tested. Once you're done one test, you can restart and select the other profile. My family has one account for all four of us.

  4. There are two separate accounts required.

    1. The eMed account is for ordering the tests and having the tests proctored. You need only one.

    2. The Navica account is used for the actual testing process and to view results. You can create one account for yourself, and add everyone else as a managed profile. Go to https://www.mynavica.abbott to create the account. Once it's created, sign in then click on Add Managed Profile to add the second person. Repeat for each person.

When it's time to test, log in with the eMed account, then the Navica account, then select the Profile.

I assume they would not test all of you at one time? Thought maybe with a computer you could see multiple test cards and they'd allow it. I have to do four next Saturday and was curious about that.

If you use multiple devices, you could test multiple people at the same time. Laptops are the easiest, because of the ability to reposition the camera and not have to hold it. I definitely needed both hands.

I appreciate the OP's effort in putting the instructions together. We've done a handful of tests in the past year and the process is pretty easy.

Another tip -- have a pair of scissors handy for opening the kit.

We've had one bad test, and eMed sent us a complete replacement for it. That is, they sent us a new order of six tests to replace the one bad test! I think that was a mistake, but I am not complaining.

I used my HSA debit card to pay.

There are four of us. I am going to take six monitored tests with us to London next month. I'll probably also take a few free regular tests with us for use as needed.

You need to be in quick if you want to do the 30 minute museum talk beforehand. On the morning tickets came out, I forgot all about it and when I came home after work tickets for all of July were all sold out. We still managed to get tickets for a visit to the house though.

They must have released more, because late July shows some availability now.

I have July 5th on my calendar to get tickets for our August visit.

Are you able to set up the eMed account ahead of the actual testing? So the info for all family members will be available and ready to go at testing time. Very much appreciated!

There are two logins. I created my eMed account when I ordered tests through them.

A Navica account is required for testing. You can set up a single Navica account and add everyone as Managed Profiles. I did this for me, my husband and two children.

This can all be done beforehand. https://www.mynavica.abbott You do not need the app for this.

Then, at test time, I went to http://emed.com and clicked Start Testing. You'll be prompted to login to your Navica account, then asked to select which of the managed profiles is testing.

  8. I just finished reading this. (I work for the publisher so I can get it early)

It's defined as "non-fiction narrative", and it does a good job conveying the thoughts and feelings of various passengers and crew. I found myself in tears quite a few times. I, like everyone else, followed the events closely at the time, but I learned more about the process/decision making that went on.

    Great read!

  9. So, I am back with another question -- wine. I understand if I buy wine in the ports, I can just bring it onboard. It is not confiscated until the end of the cruise like in the Caribbean.

Is there a corkage fee if I bring the wine to dinner?

And John Heald answered my time question. The Pride DOES change timezones, so we will be on local time throughout.

  10. We have cruised Carnival (2017), Celebrity (2019) and Royal Caribbean (2021) over Christmas. They all have secular holiday activities -- caroling, Santa visits, cookie decorating, as well as religious services. The holiday decorations and gingerbread villages are awesome! It's a great time to be onboard. My kids are older, late teens, but we've really enjoyed being onboard for the holiday.

Try your phone number with +1 (note the plus sign) in front of the area code and number.

Yup, tried that. Also tried 001 and 011.

If they didn’t use it for ticketing, I’d just use a fake number. I booked half a dozen things over the weekend, and this was the only one I had trouble with. Couldn’t submit their Contact form either. I sent them a message on Twitter.

  12. I feel so silly asking these questions, but I know there are patient people here that will try to help.

I am trying to book tickets online. I keep getting an error, I suspect because of my phone number. In the US, we format as xxx-xxx-xxxx, and for international sites, I just have to put a 1 in front of it. But this stupid form is not accepting anything I throw at it, with leading country codes, with dashes, without dashes. I think it just doesn't like a US phone number.

And my second question is about trains. We have Visitor Oyster cards for travel. How does that work with advance purchase of rail tickets? I know the route -- Charing Cross to Waterloo to Twickenham, but can I just use my Oyster card on the day of travel and it applies to the daily max, or do I need to purchase separately?

Thanks for any help. I'll try to contact the Museum itself tomorrow, but I was trying to get this wrapped up asap. I've spent WAY too much time on this already! 🙂

  13. This photo was from my Spring Break 2022 cruise, but they do sell Christmas sweaters onboard.

Also, I was on Carnival Pride for Christmas 2017. There were Christmas activities, but they were more secular than Christian. That is, Santa Claus, not Jesus.
