  1. We won't be arriving into Manhattan until about 2:00 PM on the Saturday (in March). Will that be too late to be able to get discount tickets using TKTS or do they usually sell out early in the day?

    Thanks!

  2. We had originally planned on staying in Secaucus but have since decided that we want to stay in Times Square for the two nights before the cruise.

We will park at Port Imperial - thanks for the idea - and stay at the DT Suites Times Square.

Question - does the shuttle bus for the ferry drop off anywhere near the DT Times Square -1568 Broadway or are we better to just grab a taxi from the ferry terminal?

    Thanks again!

  3. You just never know. I booked my son and his GF an inside GTY for our upcoming November cruise 2 months ago. Today that same cabin inside GTY is $500 more than his cost. Up up and away looks like prices are skyrocketing. Thankfully we booked when we did.

Our same cabin type for our cruise for 4 in March is now going for $2150 more than what we paid for it 6 weeks ago. I am very glad we booked when we did.

We got a great rate and we were able to pick the cabin we wanted.

  4. The OP made it clear, that at least WHEN he booked,it was the only option.

Why do people continue to go out of their way to blast the OP about GTY and you get what you asked for, etc!

And, the concern is real for this person. It might not be for everyone else, but some of the comments here are downright MEAN!

It was the only option for that specific cruise. There was the option to book a different cruise where a specific cabin type could be selected.

That being said, I am an extremely light sleeper and have found no difference with sleeping a connecting cabin on a ship vs a non-connecting cabin.

I find sleeping on a ship much easier than sleeping in a hotel anyway with the sea air, movement and from being plain exhausted from all of the activity

I hope the posts on this thread will put the OP's mind at rest.

  5. I have been reading this thread throughout it's long entirety and can see both sides.

I have reread the OP and the following line caught my eye:

There were not many kids in the audience and my son (usually quite shy) actually put his hand up. Mr. Romero asked him how old he was and he said 8 excitedly and attempted to go to the stage.

It does appear that your son may have misunderstood and attempted to go on stage when the magician asked him how old he was as the post does not state that he was actually invited to go on stage.

There does not appear to be any malice on the part of the magician, however, misunderstandings can inadvertently cause hurt.

As for the fun Forrest run, I had quote that line to my son in reference to him playing football. Simply put, Forrest ran fast. When I quoted it to my son, it was not meant in any terms related to the character's cognitive abilities. I just wanted him to run fast like Forrest.

Life is not black and white. How one person see's things may not be how another person sees it. Just because you're right doesn't automatically mean I'm wrong.

What is important is to be able to see things through other people's eyes.

  6. Hello,

We will be staying at the Hyatt Place Secaucus, NJ and will be looking to take a taxi or car service to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal.

Can anybody advise the current taxi fare (including tolls) or recommend a car service?

There will be four of us.

    Thanks in advance. :)

  7. I am very impressed with Celebrity's pricing. I was able to book a Caribbean cruise for next March for my family of four for hundreds less than Carnival and over a $1000 less than Holland America.

I can't wait to try Celebrity - I have heard such wonderful things! :)

  8. LOL - think the same thing. My last cruise, I had FTTF for free on a different line. Got to the port at 10:15, on the ship at 11:00 and my carry on was a backpack, so was no hassle to carry. Ate in the buffet at 11:20, and although I did not have my room until 1:00, did not care, since most days, I spend hours away from it anyway! Oh ye, the ship had over 6000 passengers. Can you name it?

Yes, but how more does it cost to sail on that ship than it costs to sail on Carnival? I don't think it's $49.95.

It all comes down to individual choice. Some feel it's worth a lot more for a week to cruise on another line just like some Carnival cruisers wouldn't purchase FTTF as they would rather put the money towards activities, drinks, casino....etc.

I have booked FTTF because of the benefits included, however, I can only make a decision on whether it is worth it for me once I have tried it.
