  1. We dined in the steakhouse on our 6/1/14 cruise. In 10 cruises, this was my first time and I will tell you....it is worth every penny (and then some). The lobster FAR exceeds what is served in the MDR,and in my opinion, the food in the MDR has really declined lately. I am happy to eat in the MDR, but the steakhouse will be a must do on every cruise now. We even booked a second meal on that cruise...it was that good, and I am a penny pincher:)

I had the surf/turf, FI had the NY strip. In my opinion the NY strip tasted better than my fillet, but the fillet wasn't bad at all! The wasabi mash was amazing, and the chocolate dessert was so so good. This was on the Freedom if that helps anyone to know.

  2. I am two weeks out. If everything goes well with debarkation, the ceremony will star at 1. Over by 1:20. And time to celebrate big starts at 1:30. 3:00 all the non sailing guest should leaving.

2 weeks? You must be SO excited!!! I hate that the reception is so short, but I know the wedding will be awesome. Are your bridesmaids coming in their dresses or changing with you? Are you going to try to stay seperate from your groom? Like not see him until the ceremony?

  3. After years of only cruising in balcony rooms, we sailed 6/1/14 in an interior. It was a special configuration though, you can look up room #6293 on the Freedom as I don't remember what category it was called. Anyways the layout is different then most interior cabins. There was zero noise above or below us. The casino was one deck down, elevators were close by to get to Lido.

I was nervous, but we LOVED it. The location was perfect and I would book an interior again in a heartbeat. We used the TV like others have suggested above. We both enjoy sleeping in the dark, but I brought glow sticks with us. The first night I placed one on the bathroom door handle, just so we wouldn't bump into anything....but we only used it the first night, thought it was too bright the rest of the nights.

My advice for getting an interior is 1.) Get midship 2.) Get one floor above promenade, but check what is below you if you worry about noise from below. 3.) Get a room close to elevator.

  4. So where are you all in the planning process?

So far we have sent out our save the dates and set up a facebook group that has been super super helpful. It has helped get people excited about the cruise and is just another place for people to get information about it other than our wedding website.

We currently have 25 people for sure going on the cruise and around 10 confirmed non-cruising. We are thinking it will be around 50 total once everyone confirms but we aren't getting married until January so there's a little bit of time still.

I SO wish we lived close enough to tour the boat and attend someone's wedding from afar like people have talked about but we live in Chicago so that isn't really possible :( I've loved reading other's reviews though!

We booked our cabin (Ocean Suite) and have ordered our Save The Dates. As soon as they come in, I will be sending them out. I have also started a website on the knot.

We chose a cruise wedding because it will be MUCH easier to plan. I can't imagine all the planning that goes into a traditional wedding as I feel that we have a lot of work to get done. Atleast we have time :)

dustinandstacy2015- You are SO lucky to have so many people cruising with you. I would love for all of my close people to come with us, but that is just not going to happen. We do have atleast 3 cabins going, but none of them are confirmed yet :( We too almost went with an aft wrap balcony, but decided the extra room for getting ready would be awesome....and we prefer being midship anyways.

  5. I've decided to do something really different for instead of a guest book, I'm painting the letters of our last name and the date each on a different page and have the wedding guests hold the letters. We will have our guests in groups or singles hold 1 letter each of S-N-E-L-L-I-N-G and A-u-g-u-s-t-3-2-0-1-4 and take pictures. I plan to have them developed as 8 x 10's and frame them to make a gallery wall. So rather than having a signature of everybody who attends our wedding we will have photos of them.

This is an ADORABLE idea:) I love it!

  6. My fiancé is a TOTAL star gazer. We have these ridiculous binoculars that we brought along on our Freedom cruise 6/1/15.

We went out on the "secret" deck on the 6th floor one night and could see hundreds of stars with the naked eye. When fiancé handed me the binoculars to look through, you could see MILLIONS :) When I put the binoculars down and turned to him, he was on his knee and proposed! It was so dark all I could see was his giant smile...couldn't even see the ring because it was so so dark:)

    Enjoy star gazing:)

  7. Love your card box. I hadn't even thought of that yet. I can't decide what I want to do about a guest book. I want something that we will use/enjoy and not a book to put away and never look at again.

I have seen some "guest books" that are actually prints that you frame afterwards. One is a tree and guests place their fingerprints where leaves would go. We are going to do something like this and I will have one of my BMS just take it off the ship for me to pick up later. Check it out on Etsy, you could do a search for "fingerprint guest book" or something to that effect.

We too are bringing our own silk flowers. I LOVE the idea of using the provided bouquet for fresh flowers in the cabin all week:)

  8. Hey everyone! We just booked our wedding today for 3/27/15 on the Carnival Liberty! DustinandStacy2015- that is just before your date. Have you guys gone on a tour. I would love for us to get down there and take a tour of the ship. Since we just booked today, I have not even been in contact with a wedding planner yet, hopefully she will contact me soon. I am currently looking for save the dates to send out:)

I look forward to chatting with you ladies over the next several months :)

  9. We were on the 6/1 sailing. It was GREAT. Norel in the casino bar is super awesome. And Iis in the Chic dining room is AMAZING if you have anytime dining, ask for her :)

We did the Behind The Fun tour and felt that it was totally worth it. We would not do it again, but we would recommend everyone do it once. They will not take you to the medical center, but if you just head to medical yourself one day, they will let you tour if they are not busy.

The Blue Iguana burrito place closes at 2pm or 2:30 daily so we never got to try it out.

The drinks at the Red Frog Rum Bar and The Blue Iguana are SUPER yummy. The Blue Iced Tea (blue iguana) is the most bang for your buck alcohol wise. And while we are on the drinking subject...you should try the Alchemy bar at least once. The Pineapple chipotle martini is surprisingly relish. Do a martini tasting and they pour it in a really fun way.

Personally we felt the food quality has declined, but that being said...we never went hungry. The steak house was AMAZING and I can't believe it has taken me so many cruises to try it...totally worth it.

Enjoy your cruise and if you have any specific questions please ask..I will be back on tomorrow night :)

  10. We sail on Sunday and I am so looking forward to seeing the improvements as I first sailed on the Freedom 4 years ago. I would love to see some updated pictures and hear some additional thoughts from recent cruisers.

  11. So I know this is not relevant to St Kitts.....but thought I would share anyways.

My first time in Roatan I booked an independent tour for me and 3 friends.....the day we docked my friends backed out....I had been looking forward to it for months. I went to the tour guide and explained the situation....we agreed on a good rate and I had a private tour all by my lonesome.....it was very interesting and I have booked with them each time I go to Roatan. Point is....go even if others do not;) I did not feel unsafe at all and I was probably only around 25 at the time.

  12. Just wanted to put my "two cents" about booking with Victor. I booked for 3 of us. At the last minute my two friends totally dipped out, one even staying on the ship:(

I was devastated, as I was REALLY looking forward to the tour. I went to Victor's kiosk, explained my situation and was able to negotiate a reasonable price for going solo. I never once felt unsafe with my driver/guide..though for the life of me, I can't remember his name. He drove me all around the Island, stopping at Victors house to see the animals...I didn't care to zipline.

Then he drove me to a beach/shopping area and let me explore for a couple of hours. I really wished I had worn my bathing suit:(

I was able to eat lunch, drink a few local beers, and meet him at the designated spot...oh and I did plenty of shopping too:)

I am going back to Roatan again in April, and will book with him again!
