  1. Combined with the other thread about "the key" sounds like some of what I call simple perks (things that don't cost the company any money) are going away so they can charge them.  As most people say it's not that big of a deal but it is disappointing.  I think though this was an easy change for RCI as they can blame the port folks and the port folks can blame the cruise line.  Now of course I'm a bit irked as the last two cruises the welcome aboard gifts were not correct requiring a visit to a concierge or LA.  Maybe it's been this way for years and years and it wasn't until places like this (CC) came along that we could all talk about it that we start to notice.  I do wonder though how many people don't get everything they are promised because they didn't get it and weren't aware they should of.

  2. Yes it's possible (but maybe not the first night.) The hours vary and are posted at the nursery on board but most of the time they open for night around 6pm (but I've seen earlier.) Normally on the first day you can sign up for a few hour blocks then as the cruise goes on you can sign up for more hours depending on the number of kids in the nursery age range they have on board. In our past experiences out of other ports / ships we never ran into a time when it was "full" and we couldn't drop a child off.

When you sign up they will let you know what to bring with the child. (they used to give you a bag you could bring back but not sure if they still give you that.) You would want to bring a few extra diapers, change of clothes, and any bottles that you want your child fed while you're gone. They will feed a child any bottles brought in but I'm not sure if they will "warm" them or not anymore. It's a great service and a real good way to enjoy dinner / night. There is a fee but so worth it for the child to enjoy their night (going to sleep early or normal time) and parents to enjoy their night (dinner without kids.)

Some ships also have toy bags that you can check out and bring to your cabin so you might want to ask once you get there.

  3. I thought the same thing on my last cruise. Would of been nice not to print it out but knowing their IT department it’s best to have paper just in case. For EN recently I didn’t seen anyone using the app at the terminal and if I had used only that I think I would of had to give my phone over to the check in agent as they took my paper document from me.

As Bob mentioned not sure they are fully ready for it yet.

  4. I'm laughing as I type this but there isn't a way to see your status online is there? I got an email a while ago saying I was choice then I got another one saying "oh sorry you're prime." I haven't sailed yet but did get a casino email for money off (nothing free) and when I called the number on the email the recording said something about Prime member. Not sure if I could tell by the number they had me call. Of course I was too focused on booking a cruise I didn't think to ask what my level was (oops.)

  5. When we were on MJ last year in Nov on the weekend cruise anyone could sit anywhere in VCL because there was not many there. They did take seapasses for EVERY drink but there were no limits. I think this allows an easy way to make sure only the people that are to get something for free are given and the rest are charged. Worked well for us as we had first time cruisers with us. :)

  6. I would use caution believing the call center. We booked our last cruise via CR and was told “sure if you got free drinks no service fee last cruise you will get it again”. Boarded the Brillance last week and was told “nope.” Since my last cruise was a 3 night and under the old rules I took the casino managers ruling and just saved money by not getting any more out than I brought.

Side note was pleased to see new slot machines installed on our cruise (some mighty cash and wonder tower)

  7. Haven’t read all Thebes pages but the corporate reply back is interesting as we just disembarked the Brilliance today and we had the same pricing as reported on the grandeur. We only were being shown a 1 time 40% off package online. Had to buy and then get the charges removed. Not a big deal and with that ship going to Spain at the end of the week not sure if that matters but what we saw is what others are reporting here.

  8. Score another one for their web department. Do they really have NO QA? How is how this is working acceptable to be live for this long? It's called roll back kids. How much outsourcing does this company do? It's sad that EVERYONE see's any announcements about an "upgrade" to their site and cringe. Too much history on how things just get worse. I do wonder how many more calls they have received today by messing this up so much.

  9. I'm sure this has been said before here but I would actually pay those prices on the Anthem. We are a family of 3 and I don't see us paying over $30 for a meal at JR anymore but if they had the pricing like the Anthem on other ships I could see us stopping in and paying for it (and if you price up what you normally get with the prices it would be more than the charges of years past.) But knowing I can get just a burger for $2.50 would tempt me to enter more than a $10 "cover charge"

  10. Just like any other WJ on boarding day keep on moving. :) So many people do go for the first line they see but there is more room forward. One thing to caution about the MJ's WJ is that they do have stuff in that first section they don't have forward (like a seafood station) so go ahead and grab a seat forward but take a quick glance at the other side. Also with the new pier the forward section of the WJ is not as hot as it used to be (when the MN was there.) :)

Also as others have said compass deli is open for a good make your own salad bar (though we did find the seating there on boarding day to be rather warm as it faces the sun.

  11. Add another one that has taken an infant on a cruise and was the best choice ever. The nursery was great and being able to go on excursions or eat “alone” was the best part. The nursery will feed bottles that are prepared. One thing we noticed back then was they wouldn’t warm bottles there so if the child isn’t used to room temp might want to start on that now (or feed prior to going.).

Another tip try to get a room on same side as nursery I still give my DW props for carrying out child from one end of the ship to the other while the kid was asleep. Those hallways can get real long sometimes.

  12. I agree with others get it before hand so all you have to do at the mlife desk is get the card. If you're higher in C&A you will get higher status that will get you a special line at check in (if nothing else) that's worth the price. :) Earlier this year Total Rewards had a match to MLife that I had matched with C&A.

If nothing else you get more express comps on your play as well. Every little bit helps. :)

  13. Thanks everyone for the feedback. We also have first time to RCI cruisers coming with us now so my time in the casino might even be shorter. In the end I'm sure things will work out. It's nice to get "free" drinks in the casino but when you look back at it buying a drink package is actually cheaper than the "free" drinks turn out to be. :) I think my plan for this cruise is on the first night with a couple of thousand and not worry about it. :D Sounds like a good idea in theory.

  14. Does anyone who's been on the Enchantment or Majesty recently know if the requirements for points are the same on the 3 night cruise as a 7 night cruise? The last two cruises have been 7 and 8 nights and because of the time we have qualified for casino offers and possibly drinks in the casino. We decided to book a weekend getaway though the casino and we were able to use the certificates from the last cruise (odd as they let us use both and it was WAAYYY after the 30 days we last cruised and earned them.)

My question is that since its a 3 night with a day at Nassau and a day at the island we won't have as much time in the casino as a 7 night (though the casino is open before we get to Nassau and during the day at the island) I'm ok with not getting enough points to get any certificate but will we loose out on drinks as well if we don't get the 1000 (or 1200 points) on this 3 night cruise?
